1. finally good news, keep it up ynet
ghostq   (06.02.09)
there is nothing wrong with contributing to society, only than they can claim for rights and jewish support.
2. Don't do us any freakin' favors
Frankie Abulafia ,   Jerusalem   (06.02.09)
Do it or don't - we really could care less. I think the most important thing, is figuring out a way to get you back to Jordan. Or just, to Jordan. Whatever.
3. Keep up the good work!
(06.02.09)
and ask your friends to do the same All citizens of the state should perform a national service.
4. as an israeli arab
Dee ,   haifa   (06.02.09)
iam willing to volunteer and contribute , just as long as its not for the settlers .....
5. 2 - does your hate keep you warm?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.02.09)
so you'd rather have hamas sympathizers instead of peaceful arabs helping and contributing. nice. actually, there is little difference between the islamic hate preachers and yourself. i guess there are bigots everywhere.
6. BS, nobody wants that
Omar ,   israel   (06.02.09)
7. Nothing wrong with that....
Nour ,   Palestine   (06.02.09)
So long as they're serving a pluralist, democratic state that is the homeland for both Jews and native Palestinians.
8. The situation for Arabs in Israel
Jewish Israeli ,   Israel   (06.02.09)
The situation for Arabs in Israel is very complex. On the 1 hand they enjoy more freedoms than in any Arab country. On the other hand they are discriminated against by the Jewish minority. However, many of them identify themselves as Palestinians and Israel is more or less at war with the Palestinians. In addition a vast majority would prefer to live under Israeli rule even if a Palestinian state would be established. I don't envy them.
9. Deep rooted incongruity.
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (06.02.09)
As long as they keep wearing those muslim garments in the Jewish Israel or ,in the case of christians, keep preaching jc in our land, they can do whatever national service they want : it will not work !because their deep rooted disagreemet with Jews will be kept in their inconscients or semi consciousness. The root of the problem must be solved ,which is :Israel must strengthen its own roots and let it very clear that Israel WAS,IS and WILL always be our land. As long as the original disagreement is not properly worked out,the problem will persist and we will not achieve peace. We must, once and for all, stop covering our eyes with a sieve.
10. whats the problem?
Allan ,   Rosh Haayin. Israel   (06.02.09)
I can understand if arabs dont want to to national service in the army or police, but there are other ways to contribute, schools, hospitals, local education or green projects are helping the country too. I also hope that the programs grow and that jewish people do national service in arab towns and vice versa, i would be more than happy to volunteer in an arab town if asked to or if i thought my being there would maybe in a very small way make some understanding possible.
11. to #7 hahahaha you said
ghostq   (06.02.09)
democratic and palestinian in the same sentense. hahaha since when arabs know what democracy is.
12. ghostq: Were you in a coma or something?
Noor ,   Palestine   (06.02.09)
The Palestinian election of 2006 was the very first democratic election that the Arab world has ever seen! The whole world knows that, even the Israeli government. Yet, I would let you know that the arab leaders of today are controlled by the western governments and as long as they give them money and a lost of support, they will continue to undermine democracy, with the help of America.
13. 8: you got it wrong.
Gil ,   Tel Aviv   (06.02.09)
How are Jews the minority in Israel?? We are the majority - Arabs are the minority!!
14. These Arabs can care less for Israel, trust me.
Noor ,   Palestine   (06.02.09)
After hearing of plans by several demanding Knesset members that Israeli Arabs are to pledge allegiance to Israel as a Jewish, Israeli state, they felt threatened. The only way they can live in "Israel" is by lying to themselves and faking such support. They just dont want to get kicked out. Obvious, really.
15. 14 - you show your ignorance
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.02.09)
i know plenty of israeli arabs, my wife for one, who are living proof you have no clue what you are talking about. but i guess there in "palestine" you need fantasies like that. i know i would if i lived there. care to share any more of your wacky palestinian propaganda with us?
16. Mike, your wife doesnt represent all Israeli arabs.
Noor ,   Palestine   (06.02.09)
17. Start by paying taxes
Jake   (06.02.09)
18. Noor #16 While I'm not an Israeli, Jewish
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (06.02.09)
or for that matter ever even been to the Middle East. One can safely make the point that you don't represent all Israeli Arabs
19. Joe, too bad Im not one!
Noor ,   Palestine   (06.02.09)
20. this turn about is inspirational
(06.03.09)
if israeli arabs wish to be considered residents and citizens on equall footing with the jewish majority, they must indeed benefit from some kind of national service. this girl nada, who volunteers at the rambam hospital, has more brains in her head than zahalka, ahmed tibi or bishara. kol hakavod to you, nada. indeed, people like you are examples of peace and the next israeli generation that feels for the state and for itself. no difference between jews and arab citizens. tell your israeli arab leaders that you want to be part of the state and you should be part of the state, no matter how many obstacles these useless negative leaders put in your way.

dee, as an israeli, i say fair enough. you may choose to contribute to israel, your country. the settlers have nothing to do with your personal contribution. they are only 300,000 people, not the entirety of israel and mostly do not represent mainstream israeli society of which you are an integral part by right and citizenship. enjoy your service. you are contributing to bettering jerwish arab relations and to your country and people. thank you, dee.

noor, you are suffering from what psychologists call PROJECTION. are you even imntelligent enough to know the meaning of projection??? when you yourself hate someone or something so much that you think all of the peope feel as you do, this is projection. i am an arab israeli and i feel no hate to jews and israelis. i have great home, food and live with jews in haifa that respect me and love me. i feel bad for you because you are full of hate. you must kno that most of us here do not hate like you and we do get along fine with jews here. we are proud of the national service and the life style we can have in this free country. i dont think life would have been the same for us israeli arabs in any arab country. here we can breath without fear. you are wrong and so, please, speak only for yourself. nadia mansour haifa, israel

i have news for you, NEITHER DO YOU! israeli arab living in haifa
24. #12 - Noor - Democracy doesn't end at ballot box
William ,   Israel   (06.03.09)
Who cares if the 2006 elections where Hamas won were open? True democracy means that despite a majority vote, the fate of the elected govt is still in the hands of the people. Hamas became illegitimate the minute they took over Gaza in a bloody coup. Polls of Pals cited many who voted for Hamas did so because they promised to clean up Fatah corruption, build schools and infrastructure, and build up the economy. Instead, the used ALL of their funds to build weapons and make war, and use their own civilians as human shields. If that isn't a good cause for impeachment, I'm not sure what is... Hamas made it clear they will KILL anyone who opposes them, even to the point of firing much needed doctors from Shifa hospital because they were affiliated with Fatah. True - it's "democracy" in your eyes, but it's "Arab democracy" in ours. Nothing to celebrate.
25. 16 - you refuse to open your eyes
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.03.09)
because you can neither understand nor READ - i said my wife is one of PLENTY, meaning there are many more than her. if i were you, i'd be embarrassed that i was showing everyone how stubbornly ignorant i have become. it gives a bad impression of all palestinians (but maybe you are representative of such mass unashamed ignorance).
