Murders and atrocities take place on a daily basis in some African nations, yet Isreal ranks worse than they do? That's completely laughable. I mean take a look at day to day life in Israel... do they really think it compares to Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan? Give me a break!

Tel Aviv has a lower crime rate and murder rate than Wellington. Israel's overall crime rate is lower than New Zealand. Israeli youth could literally walk the streets of Jerusalem or Tel Aviv at any time at night, without any adult supervision, without fear of being harmed. Judging by your comment the report is based on Israel's treatment of the Palestinians ("shocking" human rights violations) which really doesnt measure how safe Israel really is. But the facts speak for themselves. How can you seriously trust a report that places Colombia and Venezuela, two countries with the highest murder rate per capita, higher than Israel.

I am an olleh from the UK moved to Israel nearly 10 years ago now and although Israelis at times can be some of the most annoying people in the world short of an accident or a terror attack, which doesn't happen as often as the left wing media make out then Israel is a safer place. Whenever I go back to visit relatives I can see it all around. The elderly are treated with respect, here and its safe for children to go out and play with their friends in the streets or parks. One of my good friends is also an olleh from the UK and they have a 12 year old boy who they used to drive to and from school here they let him walk home with his friends. The country its problems but I feel safer here than many western states where you would expect it to be safer.

This article is biased, off-base, and based completely on a false premise. It is written with the implication that Israel is dangerous because it is an "aggressor" or "trouble-making" nation! Israel has never sought to be an conqueror, or ruler of the region. All of Israel's acts have been in defensive measures, in order to protect itself from hostile nations that surround and threaten it constantly, with quotes of desiring nothing except to destroy Israel, wipe the Israelis and Jewish people off the Earth. Israel does not seek to makes itself dangerous. The source of danger is from those who would see Israel destroyed... those who actively and passively work to see Israel harassed, bombed, and terrorized into non-existence.

When I tell my family and friends back in the States that everyone here sends their littles out (mine are 6 yrs, 8 yrs) to school to walk by themselves, they just don't comprehend it. The rule in this town is that children under 9 wait at the crosswalks and any adult coming along will hold the child's hand to take them across. Many adults will even go out of their way if there aren't so many parents about to cross a late child especially. My children are wonderfully safe here, thank G-d. I feel safe here. I leave my front door open for fresh air and don't worry about leaving it open when I'm not in the room. It was definitely NOT like that in the US. What a nonsense report!
