1. Avishai Raviv is employed again
Moshe   (06.04.09)
Just like the Shabak blamed the right in the days of Rabin, while at the same time they were the ones stirring up the pot.
2. Settlers vs. Israel
Nour ,   Palestine   (06.04.09)
3. Jewish Terror Threatens Peace as always
Nour ,   Palestine   (06.04.09)
Rabin is turning in his grave.
4. Terrorists and insurrectionists
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (06.04.09)
I have always failed to understand why Israel has been incapable of dealing with bearded terrorists of fanatical, religious, and ultra-nationalist bent who wear kippot. Maybe now the government will do something about these radicals before they murder someone. This is intolerable political intimidation or in another word, terrorism.
5. Threats
Judy ,   Israel   (06.04.09)
If the notes and threats are anonymous- they could be from anyone. Arabs, Shalom Achshav- anything to malign the Jews. Especially those who are living in Israel on purpose, not just by accident of birth. Jews who live to protect others, the IDF, the "Settlers" the Producers and the Makers of this country are all living here on purpose. Leftwingers just want to live Chu'l. So- are you sure these letters aren't just left wingers or arabs posing to stir up conflict and fear? Report Responsibly! And think with a Rosh Gadol. I for one, don't believe this garbage is from "right wing extremists".
6. Israel Fears the Fanatic Settlers
David ,   tel aviv, IL   (06.04.09)
Israel has coddled to its fanatic, ultra-religious settler movement for far too long. Those people are no better then Al-Qaeda in their extremism. Israel must deal with them with a heavy fist and show them that their extremist ideaology and blind hatred has no place in a free, democratic society...before it is too late.
7. #1 How are you different to...
(06.04.09)
The Muslims who try to shirk their responsibility for 9/11 by blaiming it on Zionists? Yigal Amir - a right winger motivated by his extreme ideology - murdered Rabin, whether you like it or not.
8. #5: Judy
Abe ,   Los Angeles   (06.04.09)
Your talkback is interesting and you are a thinking person....however....I for one do believe that the settlers are capable of writing such a letter which may not be totally garbage either. I do identify with the settlers. After all they are Am Yisrael Chai. They have been wrecked by their own government in favor of anti semites. Isn't enough....ENOUGH?
9. colour thieves
peleg   (06.04.09)
orange belongs to the dutch!
10. How lovely!
Talula ,   Israel   (06.04.09)
Poison pen letters and death threats to an IDF Major-General. . The ‘’orange ones’’ ??? the SICK ONES more like, sick ones and cowards. And, according to the letter, they are clearly not very intelligent either. So tell me, how can they call themselves religious? They are not. They are simply a bunch of thugs who need to be slapped around and locked up……..preferably with the Arabs. These mental cases make me puke.
11. This particular general was a quite mean and nasty person
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.04.09)
when it came to acting against the settlers. It appeared that he carried a personal hatred of the settlers. It is not appropriate for a person with those leanings to be dealing with the settlers, you don't throw matches into a barrel of dynamite just to prove you are the boss and can do that if you like. The upcoming months and years will most likely have a good deal of stress and skirmishes between the settlers and the IDF/Border Police, etc. It would be really wise and very appropriate to give this general a promotion and a new job somewhere else and bring in a general with better "people" skills. If you are generally a quick tempered brutal person that detests criminals you shouldn't be hired as a prison guard. I'm not accusing the general of being a bad person, but when other people can be more effective in keeping the peace, there is no reason to have him where he is. Thank him, give him a small raise and send him to an assignment where he probably won't have to deal with the people he hates so much.
12. I sign on to that letter
Ephraim ,   NYC/Kfar Tapuach   (06.04.09)
From the beginning of his tenure, Mr. Shamni has done nothing but damage to the Zionist cause. He has chosen to fight the settlements instead of the Arabs, thus picking an easier fight for himself. By placing his alliance with the enemies of the Jews, the Arabs, instead of the Jews, he has become himself an enemy of the Jewish people. And a true Zionist is dedicated to fighting all enemies of the Jewish people -- internal and external. Thus, I sign on to the letter promising retribution against the Gadi Shamni. The Shin Bet can quote me on this.
13. There is no reason
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (06.04.09)
B"H There is no reason Israel should give Judea & Samaria to the Arabs. It should be given to the Jews living there. There is a legitimate biblical and historic Jewish claim on the G-d given Holy Land of the Jews, no different from that of Tel Aviv, Ashdod or Haifa. Pogroms are unacceptable here.
14. who are the orange ones?
Dati Leumi ,   Over tje green line   (06.04.09)
the language sounds so crazy ("sons of satan"???) national religious jews don't use that kind of language (fanatic moslems do). I wonder if the orange ones aren't a bunch of lefty, peaceniks trying to marginalize the dati leumi community by making them look crazy!
15. abe, and all the rest
oferdesade ,   israel   (06.04.09)
you're perfectly right. enuf is enuf, and after we take care of the arabs and the leftists and the generals and the politicians, we're coming after the yordim and the living-room jews and anyone who doesn't wear a white skullcap embroidered in red and green using unadulterated lama hair... oh, and writers of sentimental poetry and non-jewish film producers and the tooth fairy (she really disappointed me when i was 9)
16. Talula's World Famous Bigotry
Nour ,   Palestine   (06.04.09)
"...So tell me, how can they call themselves religious? They are not. They are simply a bunch of thugs who need to be slapped around and locked up……..preferably with the Arabs...." Thanks for clarifying your biggoted and racist position. Thugs like Lieberman and you would make an excellent couple! Now I'll never make the mistake of reading any of your messages. Hateful people like you deserve to be sent to Siberia for eternal hibernation.
17. oh I guess they won't pass the loyalty oath test!
(06.04.09)
Anyone who threatens, incites against, insults or takes any negative action against a soldier or officer of the IDF doesn't deserve to be considered a citizen of the State of Israel! They don't even deserve to take the loyalty oath they so desperately want the minority citizens of the State to take. May I suggest that they be quickly sought out and have their citizenship removed!
18. #16 Palestine you say?
Talula ,   Israel   (06.04.09)
Well, I've looked on the map, and I can't see Palestine anywhere, can you please direct me? I managed to find Djibouti and Eritrea, hell I even found the teeny tiny Migingo Island. But look as hard as I could – I just couldn't find Palestine. Strange, dont'cha think?
19. More like "the yellow ones"
Noah ,   New York, NY   (06.04.09)
These cowards are traitors to the state and enemies of democracy.
20. Minority whackos, they are not "the settlers"
JPS ,   Efrat   (06.04.09)
Don't lump these criminals in with any mainstream of "the settlers", because they're not. However, they give free fodder to irresponsible jerks like the NYT's Thomas Friedman who will write more erroneous and misleading op-eds about "the radical settlers" and "the settlers" this and "the settlers" that. Listen up, folks, these idiots are a fringe minority, like the fringe whacko leftist minority who refuse to serve in the IDF and want to hand us all over to a one-state solution.
21. Snif. Snif. L'eau du Agent Provocateur
Gideon Reader   (06.04.09)
"The Orange Ones?" A group call themselves the "Orange Ones"? Oh, oh. My Bee Ess meter is whirling and the digital counter is going wild. The overheated and florid verbiage sounds very much like the heavy handed style of Agents Provocateurs of one of the "services" given towards debasment ,deroofing and denigration of the "EEEEEVIL SETTLERS". A teensy tiny bit over the top and definitely fraudlent in both style and effort. Show me a dab of evidence, please.
22. In resposne to JPS
Nathan ,   Maccabim   (06.04.09)
If the so called moderate settlers want to be credible they will need to take a far more active and responsible role in enforcing and respecting the law, they will need to akowleged that illegal outposts should be discmissed andthey should ernestly approach the need to consider evacuating some sttlemests in the heart of the West Bank. Until then, you will likely be lumped togther
23. Ephraim
Nathan ,   Maccabim   (06.04.09)
Wha dont you talk with JPS from Efrat... in her opinion your desire for retribution brands you as an "idiot" and a Whacko. Yor desire for retribution is a miserable reflection of the moral myopia that has overcome the settler movement and that will bring ists total collapse. It will not be missed.
24. #13 Ariel since when was God a real estate agent?
Avi ,   Rannana   (06.04.09)
Ligitamate biblical claim? First of all lets not forget religion is a belief , a faith a primative superstition at the most. lets deal with the facts not the fantasy. What would you feel if you were a palestinian child growing up under the Israeli occupation in the land where their family has lived for generations?
25. #13 I agree. You are 100% right #13 Ignorant Fool
Ruth ,   Netanya   (06.04.09)
Maybe you should go and live in Gaza since you hate anything remotely Jewish. We will not miss you.
26. #24 move out your house and give it to an arab
Israel   (06.04.09)
if you are so sorry for them
