1. This is INSANE!
Zoe ,   Israel   (06.07.09)
Seriously, we all agree that the courageous citizens who killed the truck drivers during the terror attacks in Jerusalem were heroes. They put their lives in danger to kill a terrorist. Similarly, though I admit it is harder for me to identify with them, the people who risked their life to stop Zada tried to save civilian lives. I can't call them heroes, but they certainly can't be called murderers either.
2. Investigate
(06.07.09)
Why did two policemen disarm Zada, handcuff him, and then turn him over to the mob? Why did the state not indict anyone for murder?
3. Can somebody explain me the difference??
Frits ,   Rehovot/Amsterdam   (06.07.09)
When ( 3 times until now) an Arab with a bulldozer is attacking a bus in Jerusalem,he is shot dead in a few minuts by 5/6 citizins of Jerusalem. We call this fellows in our newspapers: 'heroes".When a Jewish terrorist kills 4 people on a bus in a Arab town,we put the people who killed him,on a trial. Quite strange, isn't???
4. Agree with #1 drop the charges for killing scum
David G   (06.07.09)
5. two wrongs do not make a right
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.07.09)
what zada did was wrong and what the shfaram residents did was wrong. killing zada is against the law and those who participated should be punished. again, two wrongs do not make a right.
6. #3 The explanation that you reequested
Patrick ,   Haifa   (06.07.09)
The difference between the two is that the terrorist Zada had been disarmed, had been arrested and was handcuffed when a baying mob beat him to death for the sake of vengeance. The terrorists in Jerusalem were all still in control of the bulldozers and trying to kill more people when they were shot. Good enough for you?
7. RE: #1, #3, #4
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (06.07.09)
B"H Eden Natan Zada was lynched by the Arab mob while he was neutralized and handcuffed by police. There is no "self-defence" argument that holds in light of the facts. The Arab Members of Knesset quoted, therefore, are lying.
8. #5
Frits ,   Rehovot/Amsterdam   (06.07.09)
Mike, They way you write it,the killing of those Arabs was also against the law..so why are those "heroes" in Jerusalem not on a trial. What's the difference between shooting an Arab terrorist 5 times in the head in Jerusalem,or killing an Jewish terrorist in a bus in Shfaram??
9. And why are the ones who killed the Bulldozers drivers heros
JayZ ,   Jerusalem   (06.07.09)
where is justice? I even heard the last dozer incident was a mere accident. Don't name them heros and shower them with state medals, but at least don't indict them. It seems that like in the notorious "animal farm", All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
10. the arabs dont want to obey the law
Frank ,   USA   (06.07.09)
highly problematic!
11. Let me be even clearer. Zada was handcuffed by the police
Getit?   (06.07.09)
at the time, and was in the process of being taken into custody when the mob separated him from the police and proceeded to beat him to death on the floor of the bus. It is not about self-defense. Had they shot him while he was firing at them, that would be called self-defense and they wouldn't have been put on trial. The mob interfered with the rule of law and took the law into their own hands. Had people not shot the JCB drivers they would have continued the murderous rampage. Zada was not in a condition to contiunue firing, and was no longer dangerous.
12. Dismiss Indictment
Rich ,   Miami, USA   (06.07.09)
This is an abuse of the legal system. It should not be employed to indict citizens who were acting either in self defense, to stop the violence or out of the emotion of the moment. As the perpetrator was a terrorist- innocent people should not be made to pay for his acts. Dismiss the indictment.
13. 8 - and what about the price of tea in china, too?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.07.09)
some guy ran a stop sign this morning, too. i'm talking about this case, you know, where two wrongs don't make a right. are you implying that the shfaram guys should not be charged because the guy that ran a stop sign this morning and wasn't also charged?
14.  Eden Natan Zada lynching
Bruria ,   Haifa   (06.07.09)
I am amazed that people do not see the difference between beating a handcuffed man to death and shooting someone in the process of committing murder! As for #9--take a look at the videos--some accident! What Zada did was totally wrong, but once he was subdued and cuffed he should have been jailed and tried for murder. Consider this--if Jews beat an arab to death in the same situation there would be an all out war.
15. great news, even arabs have to obey the law
Berchmans the Postie ,   UK   (06.07.09)
No to lynchings in Israel,it's about time that these palestinians learnt to obey the law.
16. Frits...
PW ,   Virginia USA   (06.07.09)
Frits, how dense can you be...one was handcuffed and detained the others were still in the act of terrorism...if you can't see the difference ...what!!!
17. MIKE
Frits ,   Rehovot/Amsterdam   (06.07.09)
Mike,I am not talking about somebody who went trough a red light..You know(I think)..it is about two situations (terrorists,Arabs & Jews) with a different attitude and reaction by a part of the Israeli poplation..one here is saying: the Jewish guy did something wrong..WRONG? He killed 4 people and wounded 22 in a bus..He calls this "wrong" but the moment an Arab terrorist tries to kill Jewish people ,he is talking about cruel murder.Look,of course I am AGAINST both groups(people) of terrorists!! But call them BOTH terrorists and thread the people who killed this terrorists the same!!
18. Zada was obviously insane to kill as he did. The mob on the
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.07.09)
other hand deliberately killed a man who was restrained and helpless. The mob didn't kill because they were insane, they killed because they were raised from birth as violent terrorists.
19. ShfarAm
A Jeruselamite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.07.09)
Talk about double dtandards! If this had been an Arab terrorist and Jews killed him they would be heroes! These men stopped a murderer in his tracks, while he was on a killing spree. They are not criminals. This was defense in every sense of the word. Shame on us for charging them with felonies!!!
20. Think Yoram Skolnick - not Bulldozers!
Joe   (06.07.09)
Zada was already subdued, caught, handcuffed and in police custody when the Arab mob attacked the bus, causing the policemen to flee, leaving Zada to be murdered by the mob. If you want to compare it to anyone, then compare it to Yoram Skolnick who was arrested and still sits in jail after he killed a handcuffed terrorists. So yes, the Arabs that lynched Zada must go to jail, otherwise Skolnick should also go free.
21. #16
Frits ,   Rehovot/Amsterdam   (06.07.09)
Hi,Mr.in Virginia..how do you know? You was there?? Look, what I am trying to say ,that for Jewish Terrorists they always try to find "excuses"..Like this arch-terrorist B.Goldstein, who killed 22 people and wounded. 120 in a Mosque in Hebron. They said after: he was a good doctor, father of his children, but he saw all this sorrow in Hebron..So..you go to a Mosque and kill people..By the way, this "guy" who killed in Shfaram was a follower of Meir Kahane...
22. The problem is not the Arabs who hate the Jews
Don ,   USA   (06.07.09)
the problem is the Jews who continuously cater to the Arab mood. Trying to placate the Arab street is not going to work. The Arabs will hate the Jews no matter what the Jews do or do not do. It is obvious that the Jewish man lost it. He lost it because it is not easy to live among the enemies who do not just threaten Israel from the outside but also who live inside the Jewish state. The Arab MKs challenge the Jews and demonstrate their hatred toward the Jews/Jewish Zionist state on a daily basis. Not everybody can take the stress. It is amazing that under such horrific conditions and stress so few Jews have lost it. The Arabs of Israel must also remember how the Jews were treated when they lived under the Arab regimes or that in this day and age a Jew who appears in Ramallah or Jenin gets lynched by their Palestinian Arab brothers.
23. when handcuffing you should protect.
observer   (06.07.09)
The guards were armed, and that's why they "cuffed" him. Then, the guards should have been made it obvious to the people that the terrorist was under their control; they did not even fire a single warning shot. The "mob" didn't see or were prevented from seeing the handcuffs. That's a major fatal professional failure on the side of the guards. In contrast, in other incidences soldiers joined rioting settlers and shot in air! Were there signs of living skin reaction to handcuffing on autopsy?
24. good terrorists force Arabs to leave their land; NOT murder
observer   (06.07.09)
the Israeli government and US State Department both consider groups based on Kahanism to be terrorist organizations, Kahanist advocates insist their ideology only advocates the forced removal of Arabs from the Land of Israel, not murder.
25. #21 Mr Fritz & Zada killing
Mickey ,   Sydney Australia   (06.07.09)
Mr Fritz, were you there? The people who killed B Goldstein were indeed defending themselves while he was actively shooting them, thats why they were never charged. Zada was in custody in handcuffs when he was killer. Yoram Skolnisk is in prison because he killled a Pal terrorist who was already in custody . Further, the fact that Zada may have been a follower of Kahana does not mean that the laws do not apply to him or his killers.
26. And speaking of excuses, Frits...
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (06.07.09)
Some people refuse to believe that he did what he did. That's denial of having such a man in our midst - a natural, if somewhat pathetic reaction. Most don't share it. Some people covertly support what he did, but don't say it outright. Those are people we'd do well without, but can only try and educate and change their views unless they actively do wrong. And the above two groups number few. Very few indeed. Israel's prime minister at the time, Ariel Sharon, called Zada a terrorist - and the vast majority in this country and abroad agree he was just that. Some may try and reason that his was the act of a madman, but that's irrelevant considering that he was never brought to trial. He was never analyzed by trained professionals, to see if he was fit to stand trial. No, Natan Zada didn't even see the inside of a cell. Baruch Goldstein was a clear and present danger to the people in the Cave of the Patriarchs compound, and no one right in his head faulted the actions of the survivors of his killing spree when they brought him down. In this case, the reaction is different because the situation was different - Zada was no longer a risk. This is not an attempt to minimize or (Lord forbid) justify his acts, just the reality. People cannot take the law into their hands and mete out justice as they see fit - if the state does not serve in the capacity of the arbiter and the defender of the people, then anarchy will rule. Do you want anarchy? Go visit Somalia and see how it's like.
27. Perhaps someone took his rifle and used it
jason white ,   afula,israel   (06.07.09)
then blamed Zada. The cowardly "police" should be tried and hung themselves.
28. Dear #21 One follower of a rabbi goes killing with a gun
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.07.09)
and that means all the people who follow this rabbi are violent Jewish terrorists. You have the logic of a banana. There would be peace now if the Knesset had followed Kahane's idea to create a JEWISH state and transfer the arabs to arab states. All the moaning, groaning and complaining would be long done and there would be no o-bum-a thinking he could beat the Israelis into submission. Peaceful transfer at whatever money cost it would have been would be less expensive than all the security costs and wars since his death. There are none so deaf as those who will not listen.
29. Zada handcuffed while he was still on the bus?
observer   (06.07.09)
Bus 300 affair refers to the 1984 hijacking of an Israeli bus by Palestinians; two of the hijackers were subsequently executed by General Security Service (Shin Bet) agents while being held captive.

if those guys who shot the terrorists in jerusalem broke the law, then they should be prosecuted. simple as that. the terrorists in jerusalem were killed in the act of committing the terror. zada was subdued. then killed. listen dude, someone related to me was killed by zada in shafaram that day (my wife is israeli arab from that area). zada was a terrorist. however, those men broke the law by killing him and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law if found guilty. your trying to equate the two is wrong. you speak of things you know nothing about.
