1. Yaalon: 'law and order'
Yossi want peace ,   Israel   (06.10.09)
Yaalon, The firsy 'Law and Order' act is to remove the iligal settelments and stop stiling land, then you can lecture others about 'law and order'.
2. infrastructure ?
Dave ,   Washington   (06.10.09)
Do you know what infrastructure he is talking about? Building new settlement on stolen Palestinian land, take another five years and we will have very concrete Ayalon infrastructure peace!
3. Yaalon is Prime Minister material
Sam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.10.09)
Now here is a real voice of reason in this rush to a regional peace. If the president wants Israelis to take him seriously, and not consider him "Obamba" than he should also listen to knowledgeable leaders like General Yaalon on how to properly achieve a true peace which both peoples deserve. A simplistic rush to the finish line will not necessarily result in a lasting peace. Let's hope both sides are willing to gradually get used to the painstakingly difficult sacrifices and compramises required to arrive at Shalom/Saalam.
4. Yet more excuses to keep building settlements
David ,   Los Angeles   (06.10.09)
5. Minister Yaalon
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron-Israel   (06.10.09)
Finally we've got somebody with guts to say NO to meaningless words of peace and brotherhood totally separated from reality! He's got my vote and many others!
6. Peace isn't instant, nor prolonging.
Ypip ,   Canada   (06.10.09)
It's as instanteous and procrastinate as war. Verbalizing it all makes authors, gardeners, teachers, and physicists...
7. Peace in two years
Jerrold Cohen ,   Seal Beach, USA   (06.10.09)
If there are American soldiers, in large numbers, on Israeli soil, there can be peace in two years. Otherwise, Israel will do what it always does, kill a few Palestinians or blow up a few homes, provoking a reaction which Israel calls terrorism, so it can say we have no peace partner and bomb some more Palestinians, and destroy more homes, until it gets all of the West Bank and Occupied Jerusalem, and sooner or later, also Gaza, which is what Israel wants, i.e. theft of all Palestinian land that was not given to it. So we need American soldiers on Israeli soil, and then we can seriously work for peace.
8. Freezing Settlements is a Good Start
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (06.10.09)
If Yaalon is serious, he must also know that to build an infrastructure of peace; ending all settlement construction is part of the very foundation upon which any bottom up approach will be built, which is settling on a border. Improving Palestinian education, economy, politics, law and order, and security are all important steps en route to separation, but even more important in any ground up approach are the negotiations to determine the final border so that settlers who end up outside of Israel will have time to prepare to resettle within Israel, and the remaining settlements will know the extent of their urban growth boundary..
9. #3 Ya'alon Would Be Excellent P.M
Lawrence ,   Safed Israel   (06.10.09)
Unlike Bibi the BS merchant. What use is Bibi and what does he actually do?
10. Send Obama to Oslo
Hen   (06.10.09)
The Norwegians are so keen on political correctness, let's give them the Great Black Hope, what do you say America? Be generous with your Greatest Resource!
11. WB Arabs have only 2 options (a) Hamas rule (b) Jordan rule
G Marcus ,   Israel   (06.10.09)
Fatah option is State Dept fiction and doesn`t exist in reality. Only power keeping Fatah alive and preventing WB from becoming another Gaza under Hamas is Israeli army. Solutions: - Gaza: Under linkage to Egypt, turned into Dubai-like indl/comml hub on East Med. - WB: Partially federated with Jordan; safeguarding security & settlements for Israel, demographics for Arabs, holy sites for both. 2-State Plan doesn't make sense only if you think its aim is Peace. It makes a lot of sense if you realize its aim is further progress in the 1974 Phased Plan to destroy Israel.
12. Yaalon is right
Brod ,   USA   (06.10.09)
It is time the world listens to Israel pertaining to the Middle East conflict. Israel knows this conflict better than any other countries in the world. Yaalon is right to point out that peace cannot be rushed. There are other essential things to be accomplished before such a goal can be attained.
13. Israel is safe haven for many criminal
observer   (06.10.09)
Ya'alon, the butcher, of Qana massacre of Lebanon,1996, and 14 civilians, 2002 can travel only to the US because he cant risk being arrested in the rest of the world. But, be careful you maybe also wanted in the US; it happened before.
