1.  Mousavi is no friend of Israel.

2. Iranian people: Liquidate the regime
Richard ,   Washington, USA   (06.12.09)
There are strong indications that a majority of the Iranian people would support covert initiatives by international actors to liquidate the regime. One of the initiatives that would be supported would be for international actors to send commandoes to put a bullet in the head of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the "Supreme Leader" Khatami and in Mousavi's head (who supports the continued Islamic dictatorship). The question now is how this initiative should be carried out, and by whom. Plans for liquidating the genocidal islamic regime in Teheran should not be dicussed in the UN, since it is dominated by Islamic regimes, but instead be pondered and outlined in close discussions among the US, the EU, Israel, japan and India. This could follow as the next step ahead of military action against the regime's nuclear arms build-up.
3. Iran does not need permission from the Zionist regime..
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (06.12.09)
to elect whom they choose. The racist Nethanyahu regime can shut its dirty gob and wait - hopefully for not to long - to witness the first test explosion of an Iranian bomb. I have a large bottle of the very best French champagne in the fridge nice and ready to celebrate Israel's nuclear comeuppance.

5. I prefer Ahmadinejad
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (06.12.09)
I actually prefer Mad Ahmadenijad over Mousavi. In a debate recently, Mousavi criticized Ahmadenejad for NOT executing the British sailors that were cuaght in Iranian waters. Mousavi is not a reformer, he is crazier than Ahmadenijad and his election will make things worse for the entire world. For the crazed anti-Semities like Chanalu, I speak not as an American or a Jew but as an Iranian ex-pat.
6. This is patently absurd.
Simon Glickman ,   United States   (06.12.09)
The Iranian people deserve a less unhinged and repressive leadership. The Israeli right needs to grow up and start thinking much more pragmatically about how to coexist peacefully with Iran; a liberalized government there is a vital first step. This article is A Bush/Cheney-level screed that's insulting to everyone who believes in democracy. As a hopeful Jew I hope readers will consign its ossified ideas to the rubbish bin of history.
7. He wouldn't bring the bomb any closer
redbourn ,   tel aviv   (06.12.09)
As things stand, Iran is supposedly going flat out to get a bomb as soon as possible, and all reports state that it could have one within a year. So how could Mousavi make it happen more quickly? Answer: He couldn't. Iran has the right to nuclear power. Obama's aim is to allow Iran to have closely inspected nuclear power based on the Japanese model. If either Mousavi or Ahmadinejad refuse to cooperate then Tehran will most likely suffer a military attack. If America performs the attack, then Obama will correctly say, "I gave them every opportunity, but they refused". Mike

10. You are strange people
(06.13.09)
you want to make the world a la carte .... who is good for Israel in this world .... no one almost ... you have no friends anymore .... you didn't leave a chance for someone to stay beside you .
11. Not good for Israel
Sam ,   Rochester   (06.13.09)
Can you tell me who is and who will be good for Israel. I have read the old Bible which shows even God was not good for Moses. Moses did not trust God three times and that is the reason God punished him not to be and see the promissed land.
12. Iranian bomb will start unbridled arms race
(06.13.09)
Iran's quest for the bomb will bring an arms race to the ME. At some stage someone, most likely a religious nut - of which there are plenty - will think its a good idea to try a nuke on someone. That "someone" is most likely to be Israel. The catastrophe of this event will unfold from from there. There will be no winners - no of us will gain anything - millions will die - the earth poisoned. Iran getting the bomb means much more than Israels' "nuclear comeuppance". It means war and destruction.

I think you mean The Supreme Leader Ali Khamaeni not Mohammed Khatami the Ex-president of Iran .. They are different you know?
14. The Author is absolutely right.
Ali ,   KSA   (06.13.09)
With a relatively liberal good looking president such as Mousavi or whatever, Iran will buy a lot of time to do whatever it cannot do right now. Anyway I Just heard the news, Ahmadi won. Congratulations right wing nuts. Myself included. Many less-informed readers think that the President of Iran has power in his hand ... That's a common mistake ... In Iran the Supreme Leader is boss not the President, The President (In this case Ahmadi) implements the vision and guidelines of the Supreme Leader and his Ayatollahs buddies.
15. I've rarely heard such laughable nonsense
P ,   Philadelphia   (06.13.09)
Iran is complex, it is relevant, and it is not going away. It also cannot be isolated and surpressed forever. If you want safety from another people, you cannot treat them in contempt and hatred forever. Friendly relations won't be easy and they're a ways of, but they are also the only long-term solution. If you really think that Israel or the world is safest with a destabilising, polarising figure like Ahmadinejad who would falsely deny Shoah (he privately admitted it to be a ploy to rally the conservative base in Iran and anger the "Zionists") for political gain and talk about the need for the eradication of Israel, you're either feeding your own sin of ethnic chauvenism or you're somehow profiting from this ugly unstable situation. Soli, grow up and make the world a safer place for Jews and everyone.
16. #3 Iranian nuclear bomb?
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (06.13.09)
But I thought Iran always stated that their nuclear plan is for 'peaceful' purposes only, and they don't plan on building any bombs. Are you saying they were lying to the world?...
17. #10 thanks for your concern
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (06.13.09)
But a friend who does not accept our right for self-defense is no friend at all. We are certainly better off without such 'friends'. Anyway thanks for your concern, we'll do just fine with the few good friends we do have in this world.
18. I said it often before
Maximus ,   Rome   (06.13.09)
I stressed a similar view for weeks ! Th best pick to have to get rid of Theran nuclear wepons program i dto have Ahmadare jendeh as "president" of the iranian entity. A more "moderate" i.e; aless vocal ennemy, will pursue its works softly, with a eyes closed of the obama administrtaion of some Europeans tarts. Only a fanatical goon like Ahmad will clos ethe door to apeasment, and finaly he will imself get the rope that will hnag that wicked regime
19. Good news
Yisraeli   (06.13.09)
Cynically speaking Achmadinijad's win is good news. With the other so called reforminist would only cloud the regime with a nice new look and the world would be deceived again. This way everyone can openly see what the regime is and in the end will coax many in Iran to possibly overthrow their oppression thru another revolution.
