Jimbo is already irrelevant and he will soon be gone.
4. This is important....but astonishing....
AJ ,   Washington, DC   (06.14.09)
that Carter has never talked to Jews in Judea or Samaria? It's great that he concedes the obvious - that 1948 "borders" are dead but a SHOCKING CONCESSION OF BIAS that the man has never met with pepole living there. How on earth can he claim to have heard both sides of the story? How can he claim to be objective in the first place? Unbelievable.
5. Amazing
(06.14.09)
So Jimmy Carter is more Right-wing than Kadima, Labor and Meretz. Who would have thought?
6. Goldstein all excited because Carter smiled
Tony M. ,   Halifax, Canada   (06.14.09)
This is exactly the problem with Israeli leaders: they believe goyim who tells them it's raining while actually they're being pissed on by the same goyim. In plain English, Goldstein's an idiot - a very nice man I'm sure, but still an idiot. Just like the 2000 reform rabbis in America who announced yesterday they're buying into Obama's unsettlement plan hook line and sinker.
7. Get the "blip" out of there
Matityahu ,   Slovenia   (06.14.09)
Mind your own business Carter and stick to seeds and UFOs.
8. I agree with the leaflet.
Steve   (06.14.09)
I've got a copy of Carter's anti-Israel screed, "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid." Jimmy Carter is an anti-Israel bigot. A leopard does not change its spots. I expect Carter to find a way to backtrack on these statements. Wait till he meets or speaks with President Hussein in Washington.
9. #2 big talk from under the dam
pioneer   (06.14.09)
that Israel could, at any time bomb and annihilate 20 million muslims. carter saved n nutts in his entire presidency. In fact carter cost the us a lot. carter is viewed as the worst president in history by an overwhelming majority of Americans who also hold a special contempt foe this incredibly arrogant man who sold out his legacy for the arab money supporting his "peace center". 34 senior staff resigned when he published his latest book because it held so many distortions as a means to condemn Israel unjustly. Jimmy Carter is on his knees in front of the arabs--that is his legacy.
10. Tony the armchair expert in Halifax
JPS ,   Efrat   (06.14.09)
Sorry, Tony, but it's obvious that you've never met Shaul Goldstein nor have you bothered learning anything about him. I've known him for many years and he's far from what you'd like to make him out to be. Au contraire (whoops, do you Easterners comprennez francais that far down east?) mon ami, Shaul is pretty savvy and got Carter on record as being in favor of some Jewish communities over the green line. That's very powerful ammo in our pockets to use in the battle for our homes, and you'd be surprised that even leftists in Israel like Yossi Beilin support us... well, at least he supports Goldstein, since Beilin draws his borderline down the highway that runs between my town and Shaul's - leaving me and my family in Beilin's future Pal state. And if you knew anything about Carter, he always smiles... it's the grimace of somebody with chronic hemorrhoids,
11. History/politics lesson for #5 amazing, et al
JPS ,   Efrat   (06.14.09)
There's nothing amazing for you vis-a-vis Israeli leftists - almost all of whom support the addition of Gush Etzion to Israel in any future two-state solution. Yes - Meretz too. Go ask Yossi Beilin, whose Geneva Plan has much of Gush Etzion included with Israel. The amazing thing is that Goldstein did indeed get Carter on record as saying Gush is part of Israel, and that's gonna piss the Pals off bigtime. The Pals need to be told off, since their idea of a two-state solution is to move 3 million Pal refugees into Israel proper, and another 2 million into the west bank and gaza. That, of course, means no two-state solution.
12. Egyptian dummy, Carter was NOT president in 1973
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (06.14.09)
13. TO NR 6 TONY M
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (06.14.09)
Living in the Gush Etzion, I can tell you that you are right on in your assessment of Goldstein. He is a well paid government employee, who will meet anyone, to give us the impression he is there for us. Israeli leaders are a bunch of pathetic push over’s, who would even receive the monkey from Teheran as a honored guest in order to kiss his tuches. Carter will never be an honest man who is impartial, it is mind boggling how naive many people are here, in the face of evil.
14. #2 Carter became president in 1977.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (06.14.09)
We received the aerial arms train from the US from Pres. Richard Nixon, who made the decision to support one of the only non-Soviet aligned states in the region. Or did you forget that your army was built, trained, and funded by the Soviet Union from the very creation of independent Egypt to the day Sadat signed the peace agreement with Israel?
15. #2 and adding to #14
Ben ,   Chutzlaaretz   (06.14.09)
Correct #14 and Nixon did not support us in 73 because of love. He supported Israel because Golda Meir who had more balls than, Nixon, Carter, both Bushes, Clinton and Obama combined told Nixon that if he didn't help, Israel would be obliged to use Non-conventional weopens. That means my dear Egyptian friend that Cairo was almost made into a glowing glass parking lot! So perhaps it is YOU that should be thankful that the US decided to help Israel in '73.
16. Why Let Carter IN?
Hinda ,   SF Bay Area - Calif   (06.15.09)
Why let this supporter and apologists for terrorism into Israel? Why is he allowed? He was a terrible president and a pal of the Ayatollah. He hated Democracy and the Shah -- it is not a secret that he even was a supporter of the American Bund society prior to joining the military during WWII. Say NO to Carter & his bigotted friends.
17. I will believe Carter only when he anulls the racist book...
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.15.09)
... he published.
18. Carter even sounds/acts like a Palestinian politician...
YC ,   New York, USA   (06.15.09)
This what Carter said to the PA, the day before President Barack Obama's call for an Israeli settlement freeze, Carter said that "in the future, I am sure, he will call for the dismantling of the settlements that exist."
19. Carter--What?
Jonathan ,   Los Angeles, USA   (06.15.09)
This whole thing is deeply confusing to me. The hateful, hillbilly former president of the US--a confirmed supporter of Hamas and Hizzbollah--comes to Gush Etzion and is suddenly an "endorser" of the place. All he has done is acknowledge that the town will never go away. The man is a crank. Why should we listen to him? My one fear is that he *does* represent the feelings of the Obama administration.
20. wow kinda late to here the other side, but
ghostq   (06.15.09)
carter in his age take things slow, I reckon.
21. to #16
danny knows better ,   telaviv city   (06.15.09)
"He hated Democracy and the Shah"? common doda hinda, the shah was a disgusting dictator that killed and terrorized his own people and stole their money. and guess which country was his best friend..,? yes, we were!
22. What does he imagine ?
Mike   (06.15.09)
Israel an Islamic republic that tolerates Jews in the minority?
