av ,   london.uk   (06.15.09)
the only think that the palestinians will accept if israel is called palestine
2. Bibi sold out Israel
Yehudi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.15.09)
Bibi's agreed to give the Arabs a State in the land of Israel. A foreign state on Jewish land. This amounts to a closing down sale. It looks like the State of Israel is on the road to destruction.
3. First very small step (endorsement of a state )

4. Europ is not USA, they r more stable
ghostq   (06.15.09)
and much more serious about politics than Obama clowens, but as I see it the right wingers r getting stronger in Europ, it's only a matter of time untill ani Islam policy with the jews stuck in the middle, to limit the arab world. I am afraid that soon we will see the results, the Eu change of stances in the ME issue is inevitable .

6. A clear message?!
withheld ,   Copenhagen, Denmark   (06.15.09)
What is needed is a clear message from world leaders on this matter... So where is logic driving EU foreign policy? Good thing Israel knows where it stands on issues, as the world clearly knows not what to think in this highly dynamic conflict.
7.  To Bibi
Mike Van Harris ,   Antwerp Belgium   (06.15.09)
We all know history very well, That land was never ever Israel, it was always known as Palestine. You came from another country. Give the Palestinians there rights and let be peace. Your speache is only craps, and if not , the other option for you is to go back to where you came from.
8. Abbas turned down Olmert on Jerusalem+refugees
Sam ,   Canada   (06.15.09)
Abbas and the Palestinians appear to want too much of Jerusalem and too many refugees into Israel to accommodate any electable Israeli leader and the Israeli population. It's a wonder just how many refugees the Palestinians realistically think Israel would take in. I doubt even the USA and EU would buy it.
9. Bibi
Tom ,   USA   (06.15.09)
The EU, and it component states, can bugger out. A state defines itself. Israel is a Jewish state . As Sweden is a state for Swedes. EU has not accepted Turkey into EU because of its Muslim population. The EU is hypocritical and Israel does not need full ties to it. Bibi was balanced and gave his parameters and spoke forthrightly without bowing under to Obama or the EU and rebutted the Arabs adroitly. France dominates Corsica.
10. the pal dont want peace
Anon ,   South Africa   (06.15.09)
because Israel will do even better in financial terms, during peace. the pal hate Israel success. Islam does not except peace only hard line terror of the people... just look at Iran this week
11. Bibi did the ONLY right thing!
Ram ,   London   (06.15.09)
Of all the choices he had the speech he delivered could not have been better. Bibi is no fool. Though he accepts a Palestinian state he knows very well that the conditions attached will NEVER be met by Israel's perpetual enemy. Time and again they have made it clear through all their actions that only the total destruction of the Jewish state will satisfy them. So this is my understanding: 1) The Palestinians will not accept. 2) He reached out to all the arab countries to extend an olive branch offering collaboration that will benefit the entire region. This is no small matter in today's economic climate. If he receives a positive reaction this will slowly alienate the Palestinians and their support will wane from their arab supporters. 3) He emphasised the Jewish claim to the land and the fact this was no reparation for the Holocaust. 4) He sent a clear message to the Obama administration that Jerusalem will not be divided and that natural growth of the existing communities in the "occupied territories" will not be curbed. The message is clear to the US, yes you can be our allies but we will not allow you to use us as a sacrificial lamb. As for the EU, their reaction is as expected. These are the "tuchas lickers" of the arab world and they will carry on imposing on Israel doomsday demands. I have no doubt the diplomacy of the Israeli government will handle this matter in the proper manner. Well done Bibi and well done Likud!

13. Analysys of the Netanyahu Speech
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (06.15.09)
B"H Even contemplating the idea of giving away G-d given biblical and historical Jewish Holy Land to the goyim is a major sin and utterly unacceptable. Attaching conditions to such a move, that makes it unlikely, is a good idea, but doesn't address the underlying issue expressed in the paragraph above. Israel's narrative should be Jewish. The fact that it is not is a major problem for the Jewish people. Israel should not play for time. We should be telling the world loud and clear who we are and what are we here for. We should be saying that the Land of Israel is G-d’s and He gave it to us for a purpose, to allow us to be separated from the nations and thus be holy. That’s why we'll fight for it if attacked. As we ARE under attack, we'll fight the Arab invader. The above is a Jewish narrative and that should be Israel’s narrative too! Leaving G-d out from his speech, Netanyahu committed a major tactical and strategic error that may cost us dear. Leaving Pollard out cheapened his speach even further, from a Jewish point of view. In conclusion therefore, he proved himself yet again an unworthy, "non-Jewish-minded" leader of a supposedly Jewish country, Israel.
14. halt to colonization?
nadav ,   tel aviv, israel   (06.15.09)
The maybe France and Spain should stop colonizing Basque land, or Corsica, and the Dutch should stop colonizing Friesland, and the British should stop colonizing Ireland and Scotland, and the Italians should stop colonizing Sardinia. You see where I am going with this? Who is colonizing who? Judea and Samaria is just as much a part of Israel as Tel Aviv and Beersheva! Period! can the europeans get that through their thick heads?
15. palestine state = israel in evry thing
sami ,   canada   (06.15.09)
a palestine state must be equal to israel , in evry thing thing , land , border, army , nuclear , sea border , and most important is refugee, must return to there stolen homes in palestine 1948 land.
16. #2 - No he didn't
Chaiya ,   Israel   (06.15.09)
He knows very well that the conditions he set down won't be accepted; so he had no problems with stating the magic words, 'two-state solution.'

chuck ,   US   (06.15.09)

19. #7 and #15 Sami
Ram ,   London   (06.15.09)
#7 I hope you have done yourself a favour and posted a false name as you have demonstrated yourself to be truly ignorant of the facts. #15 You should be with your brothers helping build a normal state instead of spitting ignorant venom from a distance. It is because Bibi knows your people that he accepts a 2 state solution. He knows this will never happen because you will never accept the conditions. I hope you like Canada (until they tire of you) and will make an effort to improve in the local language.
