It is obvious that there are some people that will not be freed, but there are thousands that Israel could live with freeing, so get as many on your current list as possible, and in addition get maybe 4000 or 5000 that Israel would release, all the women, and children, go for quantity rather than quality, you will make many more people happy this way and increase your popularity much more than sticking to your guns and getting no where.

The original demand was for the release of women and children. Israel broke that agreement. Then Hamas would guarantee a cease fire if Israel would stop the siege, Israel broke that agreement as well. Because of its dishonesty, Israel has found itself between a rock and a hard place and there is no longer a guarantee of unconditional support from the US.

Lyida - the original agreement INCLUDED women and children (teenagers who also took part violent activities or smuggled weapons - an illegal act in EVERY country) - but the majority were murderers with lots of blood on their hands. Top bomb makers, rocket makers, terrorist trainers - terrorists that both NEED to be in jail and that deserve to be under the most basic armed conflict rules. If it were JUST women and children, the deal would have been made a long time ago. But then again - even women and children have shown themselves to be violent and illegal....so...

1) Hamas never offered anything but a 6 month hudna and we got 6 months nothing more. During that hudna things were more quiet but there was still rocket attacks etc. Israel also never actually agreed on anything, Hamas made demands we said their price was to high. Israel never fully lifted the seige but it did relax it and allowed essentials, fuel and other goods. 2) Women & children was never THE demand for Gilads release they were PART of the package which included killers and other high profile terrorists. 3) I agree with you Israel can no longer count on the US if anything they have become an enemy with the prophet Obama declaring himself the defender of islam. Visiting arab state after arab state, the saudis twice in two months and although he is not going to be a welcome geust to date he hasn't vsited Israel even once. If the US wanst to side with the enemey then maybe its time for Israel to part company with the US be a little more independent start looking for new allies ... China, Russia if we distanced ourselves from the US just a little bit would be happy to forge alliances with Israel. Its a new world and Israel needs to find new allies instead of assuming that it is only allowed to have one ally in the world.
