1. Israel has no sovereignty!
Jewish Refugee   (06.24.09)
I mean how come Iranian Ayatollahs are killing its own people because of the rigged elections. Let’s not underestimate it is elections one of the pillars of the RULE OF LAW. And Obama has said he does not want to interfere or meddle in Iran and left it to the Iranian people and government to decide. In other words, decided it internally. But when it comes to Israel, Obama’s administration is showing the full will to interfere and meddle in Israeli government and people’s choices. Israel has voted right, it means we are tired of land for illusion of peace. In other words, we are not going to capitulate; but Obama does not get it; so he is basically exerting unprecedented amount of pressure on the Israeli Prime Minister and his coalition. The question is why Israel a democratic country gets pressured when Iran and North Korea are getting appeased? Some would argue that Israel is very dependent on the U.S.A. My question is when the cost would overweigh the benefit of this relationship? In other words, when will this dependence relationship impede on Israel’s existence so that Israel will have to do without the U.S.? For more please visit: http://israelactnow.blogspot.com
2. No problem Mitchel.
Larry T ,   Kfar Sava   (06.24.09)
We did not ask you here. This is our land. Jordan is Palestine
3. Madness
Goliath   (06.24.09)
May Benjamin realize that his madness is not beneficial to Israelis nowadays.
4. actually this can be good cause from the
ghostq   (06.24.09)
press confrense I saw yesterday, Obama just gave partly answers but people r not dumb soon nobama and his coliges will have to resign. so Israel will get good publicity as the entity who tryed to promot forign afairs while nobama refused and cause bad political internetional situation.
5. The crucial threat to peace.
Dave Ronen ,   Haifa   (06.24.09)
Obama's pressure to freeze Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria diverts attention and resources from the crucial threat to peace: Arab rejection of the existence – and not just the size – of a Jewish State in the supposedly abode-of-Islam. Inadvertently, Obama is adding fuel, and not water, to the fire of Middle East turbulence and violence. But, Obama regards "settlements" as a critical obstacle to peace…. 6. unnatural growth
Michael ,   Haifa   (06.24.09)
There is no such thing as "natural growth" of the settlements. All expansion there is unnatural and the term "natural" is a lie covering the acts and intentions of the government..
7. No need for more proof
Syd ,   CyaLand   (06.24.09)
Obama does not care for Israel, it took some time... but now Israel knows this fact and is preparing to cut off all talks for at least 3 and half more years, untill the pro-terror president of the US is out of office
8. Settlements?
Wise Saba ,   Netivot   (06.24.09)
It's not the settlements that's the problem, it's the very existence of Israel that everyone is objecting to. The Palestinians have a homeland called Jordan, let them go home. Barak Husein Obama & his friends can go to hell! Presidents come & go, Israel is eternal. AM YISROEL CHAI V'KAYIAM!
9. Resist Roman Catholic attempt to ghettoise Jewish People!
Ken Quinn ,   Amsterdam   (06.24.09)
Israel should even push back in the face of this program to ghettoise the entire country and the RESTORED village life of Israelis. Why not plant a new village and call it "Little Roma" and have it specialize in serving pizza and producing tomato sauce.
10. israel is and has been receiving aid from the USA
Dee ,   haifa   (06.24.09)
which cannot survive without , and iran is not nor ever did .... hope this answers your question
11. for #1
usa ,   usa   (06.24.09)
you think people are stupid...Israel can build whatever they want, but inside the green line . the west bank is not israel. whem iraq took kuwait. the whole world fought saddam. he used to say the same as some jews "this is our land". No.Saddam thought kuait part of Iraq.this is the same ,the west bank is not part of israel. again go and build all what you want inside your border..The whole world is with Obama even 60% of the jews....A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
12. #10
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.24.09)
Actually, you are wrong. Iran was highly dependent on military American aid. After the Americans cut off the aid, the Iraqi forces with Saudi/American support succeeded in massacring 1 million Iranians. Now that the US has aligned itself with Wahabi Islam and its Jihad, Israel can't afford American aid. Israel can and should move to an alliance with Russia, India or China, powers under threat from the Jihad. Soon, Iran will also be free and would join such an alliance.
13. Testing us - this is only the beginning.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.24.09)
Don't think that compromise on this issue will resolve anything at all. More demands will follow, more one-sided concessions - this is just the beginning. A confrontation with the Obama administration cannot be avoided. Don't kid yourself - the Obama administration has accepted the Saudi initiative totally including the return of phoney refugees. They will also push us to cede the Golan to Syria. And, they have accepted the idea of a nuclear Iran - Appeasement of the Muslim world is Obama's only foreign policy & there are no ''red lines'' ......
14. Mitchell, You can stay home & lay eggs
Zohan ,   Tel Aviv   (06.24.09)
15. #10 so the iran contra thing was all made up
Danny   (06.24.09)
Israel and the US didn't sell weapons that allowed the Islamic republic to fight Saddam? Newsflash - american "aid" is less than a miniscule percentage of Israeli GDP. A mild recession would have bigger effect than the cutting of US aid - and maybe we also be able t buy weapons on the open market that actually work? and maybe even be allowed to use them and finish the fights we have?
16. Obama is training Hamas in J&S
Concerned Israeli   (06.24.09)
The US- trained "moderate" fatah are now teaching Hamas terrorists what they learned from the US army (for a high fee; money buys everything in the ME). Bibi should stand strong against Hussein O. and his Islamic armies.
17. The USA needs Israel not the other way around
Yoni   (06.24.09)
The muslim president of the USA (stupid americans) has already proven his allegiance to arab nations over the only Jewish country in the middle east. Barak needs to shut up and stay home.
18. President Obama
Walter ,   Portland, USA   (06.24.09)
As things stand, I would say that Israel, as we have known it, will probably be gone in 5-10 years. That is the trajectory of President Obama's plan.
19. for #17
uncle sam ,   usa   (06.24.09)
when you calling americans stupid you are talking about george bush and his staff....you could not be talking about obama.
20. For #11
Jewish Refugee   (06.24.09)
No I do not think that people are inherently stupid, they are just ignorant; but it does not mean that ignorance will shield you from responsibility. In other words, if there is a law that you don’t know about, it does not mean that you will not get punished if you break it. Let’s set the record straight, West Bank does not exist it is JUDEA and SAMARIA; it is just a propaganda war that is well known in the Muslim World for example is it Persian Gulf or the Arabian Gulf? Secondly, Israel was fighting a defensive war against Arab perpetrators. As far as I remember international precedents of defensive wars, whenever a defending country becomes victorious it keeps the lands that it has acquired as punitive measures against future attacks. As Russia has kept lands during is wars, the U.S.A. is still holding Colorado, Arizona, Californian, Texas, and Utah from the Mexican American War. PRECEDENTS ARE IMPORTANT but not only has the Jewish armies were victorious but they actually liberated the lands that belonged to the Jewish PEOPLE for thousands of years. Your irrelevant example of Saddam Hussein does not fit at all. Saddam was invader not defender, unlike Israel that was defender and not an invader. As far as your land and my land, do me a favor and google “British Mandate of Palestine” and look anything east of the Jordan River “hint” this is your land if you want to you can call “East Bank.” Furthermore, Obama, the world, and the Jews, they do not care about Palestinians or the Israelis they want steady stream of oil for their economic growths. Mark my words, once the oil is over world will forget about the Middle East as the toilet paper that they have once used. So if I were you I would begin advance in technology and other important infrastructure that will help you become sustainable in the future. Your best bet is friendship with Israel not conflict. No I don’t think you are inherently stupid, it is just you are ignorant as I was couple of years ago when I blamed Israel for the Middle Eastern Conflict.
21. to Uncle Sam
(06.24.09)
I think Yoni (#17) meant that the Americans will be paying for the mistake made in electing Obama. Even French president Sarkozy has more cojones than Obama. Sarkozy took a stand against wrapping women up in black clothes while Obama supports it.
22. #s 3 &10 - facts speak louder than uniformed opinions
Jane ,   London, UK   (06.24.09)
Israel is in no way reliant on money from the U.S. http://tinyurl.com/usaidtoisrael Hopefully you will have a better understanding after reading the above informative article. Jane
23. This is the same Mitchell that...
JG ,   Modiin   (06.24.09)
...produced a monumental report on "Steroids in Baseball" while he was a Director of the Boston Red Sox. Ironically, the report mainly discussed New York (Yankees) ballplayers taking Steroids. I see Obama picked just the right "independent" guy to stake out his positions.
24. Hey, how about starting a Kfar Obama
INCognito ,   Brooklyn, NY   (06.24.09)
in the territories :0) and maybe a Sde Clinton. and what the hell, why not also do a Beit Mitchell, while we're doing it?
25. Mitchell is not an honest broker!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.24.09)
With his Lebanese background how can he be! He is the fox guarding the chicken coop! If he wants a solution he must demand that the Palestinians STOP KILLING ISRAELIS which is what they have been doing for 61 years! This has nothing to do with settlements as there were no "West Bank" Settlements prior to June 1967 but there was Arab terrorism! The fact is that the Arabs want Israel from top to bottom so they can destroy it like they did in Gush Katif and go back to living in squalor while their leaders get rich!
26. Time is ripe for Israel, Burma, and North Korea to get
Ken ,   Burma   (06.24.09)
together, they have so much in common.
27. My advice to Israel
Ram ,   London   (06.24.09)
There is no doubt the US has acted as some sort of backbone to Israel throughout its growing period and every friend is precious. Israel should be grateful for that. There comes a time when a friend makes demands that are beyond inconvenient, and I guess this is what the US is making of Israel right now. The US can demand what it likes but Israel has to decide whether to oblige based on its personal interest. No friend has the right to blackmail another to take self damaging steps. What Israel should now do is TELL the US " we loved the old you but we do not like the new you". It istime for Israel to cut the umbilical cord with the US should the pressure continue. Israel can make it on its own and no doubt Jews and others worldwide would rally to support it. If the government of Israel shows signs of caving in to the US demands then the people of Israel must INSIST they do not if they wish to secure their continuity.
28. # 26 Ken,Stay In Burma And Mind
Lawrence ,   Safed Israel   (06.24.09)
Your own business. What has Israel got to do with you?
29. Pressured versus appeased
N ora ,   Tell Aviv   (06.24.09)
Obama is right. Israel is the "Good boy". You say to him "No" he understands. Israel is democratically obedient. You can pressure Israel. What about Iran and North Korea ? They are the "Bad boys". If you say to them "No" they might kick you back between the legs. You can only appease them, by permitting them to get the "Nuclear Sweets" they ask for.
30. Obama
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron-Israel   (06.24.09)
Why not to declare Mitchell and Clinton "persona non grata"? I believe they really are not wanted here!
