JAVIER ,   PARIS, FRANCE   (06.28.09)
I find it telling that you doctor the faces of jewish demonstrators in Jerusalem to protect their identities. You do not do so in the case of Palestinians when they riot. Anybody can come out with the obvious conclusion that points to racism and discrimination that is present at all levels in israeli society. And police would have quashed without qualms a palestinian protest of this kind.
2. to #1 you ignoring the violent ways
ghostq   (06.28.09)
of both minorities, if they wanted a real change they would have adressed the gov wittch they didn't, so... tough.
3. Why blank out their faces?
Talula ,   Israel   (06.28.09)
Everyone should know exactly who these thugs are. Why protect them? Why such passive, aggressive treatment of these dirty bastard savages? I hope the one in hospital is in pain - I really hope he is suffering. Maybe that was God's way of telling him to back off smashing up his holy city.
4. #3 How can you revel in his suffering, Talula?
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (06.28.09)
For all you know, he was peaceful protester, like most of the people there. But you dance in the blood, as the saying goes, because it seems you *want* them all to be evil and violent. It makes it easier for you to hate them. The protests have gone too far, and I hope the Eda Haredit can finally keep their own public in check - for far too long they've either ignored the extremists and thrill-seekers and pretended they didn't exist, or said that they don't belong to the Haredi public once they behave in this manner. Except that for anyone who doesn't live in Me'a She'arim, these people *do* belong to the community - time to put an end to it and push out those who turn protests into riots. The protest itself, regardless of how legitimate, defeats itself when violence and Shabbat-desecration occur on it. Perhaps it's time for the Jerusalem Eda Haredit to admit that they can't control those who don't listen to them, and let the police get involved more actively? It'll be better off for everyone involved.

7. Shas advice from liars and thiefs

Shas dishing out the advise once again , which is somewhat amusing from a bunch of rascist criminals. How is Mr Benizri doing these days any more advise on spiritual matters before he starts his jail time?
8. Jeremiah
eddie ,   london UK   (06.28.09)
We can only take guidance from our great prophets. Jeremiah said the the peace of Jerusalem and of Israel would only be guaranteed if people observed Shabbat. Now, we do not have prophets to give the message today. If the Haredim are really concerned about the sabbath observance of the seculars, then the way is not to fight or riot, but to invite them to their hosues, give them cakes and tea, and celebrate with them. This will get more seculars observant than by starting a riot.

I don't know if he was a peacefull protester . If he was'nt he deserves what happened to him . I have read also that a 6 years old boy was hurt .Who takes a little boy to a manifestation that can turn violent ? Regarding your second and third paragraphs , i can only completely agree . Sad to say , not everyone , on both sides , understand it .
10. shabbat
had enough   (06.28.09)
Jerusalem is a holy city for islam, christians and jews. Currently Jews are in charge of Jerusalem so why cant jews respect Shabbat? (both ultra othrodox and secular?) the charedim dont need to protest in any violent manor and people who are not relgious shouldnt demand for their parking lot to be open. If this would of happened in any country charedim wouldn't protest at all we only see charedim protest in israel its simply sad, it just goes to show how low the madinah has fallen it has no respect for its own religion. Its strange because christians 'sabbath is on sunday' and they even admit that they owe it to the jews.

I don't CARE! I hate them all. They shouldn't have been out on shabbat protesting about a parking lot. Or come to think of it, anytime. Who are those stinky animals to dictate to the state what should be open and what should be closed? They forget they are the minority - seculars want to visit Jerusalem on the weekend BECAUSE WE WORK DURING THE WEEK! I can't stand them, they are vile and I don't need an excuse to hate them, I just do.
12. Talula , please !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.28.09)
Don't be so hatefull . I too dislike SOME of them , but not all of them as you do . There are wonderfull people amongst them , people who contribute very much to the whole Israeli society . Your position will NEVER contribute to something positive .

18. #11 And you're a bigot, so what else is new?
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (06.28.09)
Ultra-Orthodox Jews work during the week and want to maintain the sanctity of their religious holidays in their neighborhood, their city, and the central-most site of Judaism. And in Jerusalem they're not merely a "minority", but a third of the populace. Your hatred brings nothing good, just more spite, more entrenchment, more mutual accusations...

first of all try to know that tb's are also reactions to other tb's . I'll have to repeat this more than once because of your dead sea level . The only subjects where you can beat everyone is in your VULGARITY , HYPOCRISY and HATE . You also beats everyone in ignorance , but for this , your favella origin can also be an excuse .
20. #9 The problem is that no one really expects violence.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (06.28.09)
At least not on the side of the Eda Ha'Haredit community in Jerusalem. They have a very strict policy of peaceful protesting, and as they expect everyone attending to heed that policy then that's that. They don't see, or prefer not to see, the people who *don't* heed the orders. The more insular Eda Ha'Haredit of Jerusalem doesn't quite see or admit to itself that there are such elements in its midst. This isn't on the level of the Rabbis (who *do* see it, and talk about it often - many protests were canceled precisely because of it), but on the level of the Askanim - the mid-range community politicians. The thing is, the police isn't helping, it has so far made it worse. The people who suffered the brunt of the riot police were mostly the peaceful protesters or even bystanders who wore the wrong (IE, Haredi-looking) clothes. And there was that time when a riot force passed through Me'a She'arim with anti-riot firehoses, which were turned to the apartment windows in some cases... it didn't end well in terms of property damage to the people living there, and those were the people who didn't even leave the house at all, rather than the protesters outside. If the Eda Ha'Haredit of Jerusalem is insular and blind to the behavior of its outcasts, then the lower rungs of our police force is incredibly ignorant and prone to using maximum force. And that just pours more fuel on the flames.

The police has arrested people for throwing stones and other delicts was written in the papers and said on tv . Not peacefull protestors or bystanders as you wrote . Where did you found it ?
22. #21 I'm not talking about this specific protest.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (06.28.09)
For this one, I simply don't know - we'll see and hear more depending on how many of those arrested now will actually face charges. I'm talking about previous protests, including the one two weeks ago, when an ultra-Orthodox tourist visiting from the US was chased over an entire street by a riot policeman cursing him all the way. His crime? He stopped by on the way from the Western Wall to see what the fuss was all about, and was wearing the wrong clothes - IE, the same "uniform" the protesters wore. He was interviewed at for the Mishpacha weekly news magazine, and didn't quite appreciate the experience: http://www.peopleil.org/details.aspx?itemID=7472&nosearch=true&searchMode=1 I don't have a link to the article, merely to an explanation as to what the paper is. It also had a detailed article about the following event: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3733872,00.html And others in the same vein. These are not empty complaints - too many of our policemen have "zero tolerance".
23. #22 And to correct any misunderstanding on Mizrahi's case...
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (06.29.09)
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=35781 That's the closest I could find to the detailed article on Mishpacha, though the reporter who wrote this one made a mistake: "In his 25-page ruling, Justice Milinoff found Hirschkopf guilty of section 380 of the penal code. He was also found guilty of interfering in a criminal investigation in accordance with section 244 of the penal code. Sentencing will follow at a later date." That should say *Mizrachi*, not Hirschkopf. Whoever wrote this amateur internet article didn't proofread.
24. I agree with #1
Nati ,   Rehovot   (06.29.09)
If this were a Pal protest, there would be a military presence. And, I find the term "thugs and animals" harsh, but is it far from the truth. I remember not long ago in Rehovot a street fight over some messianic jews handing out literature. It appears that there is only one view acceptable to our orthodox brothers and sisters. I say treat them as we would treat any other violent protester who is protesting over something as STUPID as a parking lot. The rest of us peace loving Israelis can then get on with our lives and not be annoyed by these miscreants.
25. Roman , we are talking about this week end
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.29.09)
everyone will tell that he was only a bystander . Would like to hear the police version . Protestors always claim that police's presence is as a red carpet in front of a bull [ not only here ! ] Generally spoken police will not attack innocent bypassers , it can happen , but you have to know what happened before .
26. Roman , about innocent passerby
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.29.09)
When i see something that happens , or hear something that i disapprove , i have'nt to do or to say anything . My face tell's enough , it's an open book . People immediately know my ideas then . It can be the same with an "innocent passerby" . When i lived abroad i was controlled two times by police . They politely asked my papers , and there were no problems , everything was OK . But sometimes , police told me , people answer on a less nice way . "what , do you think i'm a gangster ? " "do you think i have time to loose ? " And then police , who are also Humans , can become angry . Here they receive "nice" names as nazi , gestapo or so . Try to stay calm with this after some time .
