It is unfathomable that the British foreign secretary would be unaware of the still binding mandate text of 1923, approved by the League of Nations and inherited by the UN as a binding obligation on the international community. The mandate recognizes that ALL land to the west of the Jordan river, i.e. including all of Jerusalem, the Westbank and actually even Gaza, is where the Jewish national homeland shall be reestablished. Only aggrements to the contrary can change this. The partition proposal (resolution 181), which constituted a mammoth Jewish compromise to the above Jewish rights, was rejected by the Arabs, as was resolution 242. The Oslo accords have been betrayed by the Arabs, as has been the performance-based Roadmap for Peace. So in the absence of any agreement to alter the geographical scope of the recognized national rights of the Jewish people in the west-of-the-Jordan-river-area, any and all Jewish building and sovereignty there is entirely and unalienably LEGAL. Mr. Miliband is simply ignorant och negligent if he denies these binding obligations on the world community, especially since it was his own country that was trusted ith the execution of the Mandate text, and which utterly failed to do so under Arab pressure and parochial British interests, contrary to binding internatioal law, stipulated in the Mandate text.
