1. Like French President, Nicolas Sarkozy reads this garbage
Avi ,   Rannana   (07.05.09)
Well duh !
2. SNAP!!!
izzy d   (07.05.09)
point of consideration: If we were to replace Lieberman as the subject of sarkozys remarks, with ,for instance the entire hamas government.. They too were democratcly elected yet proudly endorse an anti democratic platform. .
3. Bibi
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron-Israel   (07.05.09)
Dear Hanoch, Who is really out of line is Bibi, since he didn't express clearly to the frog eater where he can stuff his ideas! Where is our national pride?
4. out of line
Lisa   (07.05.09)
I was surprised at Mr Sarkozys remark- it really is not his business to comment on another president staff- I was equally surprises at Mr. Liebermann's reaction and remarks during the Iranian presidents visit in Switzerland. Mr. Liebermann withdrew the Israeli Ambassador and the sparks were flying. The meeting was held in response to an American request to mediate for the release of the American reporter held in prison for 6 months in Teheran. A simple letter of dissproval from M.r . Liebermann would have been sufficient on an international level- instead it was turned into a major diplomatic circus. The insults thrown at a democratically elected politician, who was acting on behalf of a foreign government (that is still incapable of doing its own dirty work) were totally OUT OF LINE. We shall put it this way, Mr. Liebermann: The bad news is that Switzerland has no intention of getting on the bad side with the Americans over a undiplomatic foreign minister- and the good news is, most countries kept out of the fray- and just shook their heads over this frakas.
5. "L'aroseur arose" U'll treated the way you treat other's
Moise   (07.05.09)
You interfere in Palestinian affairs, some one will interfers with yours.
6. To #5: Cut the BS
Frank ,   Canada   (07.05.09)
Pals are meddling in Israeli affairs with their terror attacks. Moreover, even if Israel was doing what you falsely pretend she is doing, this won't give Sarkozy the right and the legitimacy to meddle in Israeli affairs.
7. Head start from birth.
Gideon Reader   (07.05.09)
No Hannoch, Sarkozy is NOT out of line. He is simply Freach. He is fulfilling his sworn duty to act like a schmuck in office. Fortunately he has plenty of experience, having been born a schmuck.
8. schmucks united?
Lisa   (07.05.09)
it takes a schmuck to know a schmuck? All schmucks get together and repeat after me: we are schmucks? Mr. Sarkozy should not care- it was probably a friendly suggestion and the anti everything league blew it out of proportion as always. In Ms Livni you had a classy diplomatic cool rep- she got the majority votes- but #2 got the job- democracy in action? Mr. Liebermann was #3- he would have been better off with a less visible portfolio- hope he makes the best of what he was given- the world hardly needs another Chruschtev who pounds on the table with his smelly shoe, when he disagrees with something....
9. Sarkozy suggestion
Harold ,   Liverpool, USA   (07.05.09)
The French cannot deal with Lieberman so Egypt and other countries due to his bad mouth and his past resume that he used to work as a night club bouncer.
10. sarkozi,,shut up
anika peszt   (07.06.09)
monsieur & madame sarkozi, our minister mr excellency,a,liebreman was voted by the majority,so,time for you to fill your mouths with frogs and shut up. mr le president, you are trying to sound like a real marcheal petain, you are after all a grandson of a small hungarian jew who got himself assimi, lated and you are the result,so,miklosz bachie, take care of carla, she is sqinting,to the left and take care of mahmud he will drive you out of france, back to buda and peszt.
11. Israeli opinions of Lieberman
Jack ,   Fort Collins, CO, US   (07.06.09)
From my reading of the Israeli press, I heard Lieberman regularly described as a fascist, a racist, and a thug, before he was elevated to his current post. Hardly the standard resume for a country"s leading diplomat. You reap what you sow. We had to live with eight years of George W. Bush, so I know how embarrassing such characters can be.
12. the author quotes...
Matt ,   US   (07.06.09)
..."because here in Israel, the people (including the less polite ones) do not tend to interfere in issues that do not pertain to their own state. " what a load of crap! how many keyboard warriors on these posts call for the impeachmeant and assaination of the american president Obama? Do you really think that Israeli politicans haven't said this type of thing about other countries diplomats? Jewish/Israeli polictical particapation/interference is very present in Europe and the US (namel AIPAC). To argue otherwise is ignorance at its peak! The author does not know his own people, or country, very well at all.
13. I think he has a right to ask to replace Liberman
Grigorius   (07.06.09)
And we have the right to ask him to replace his wife with a woman who doesn't pose naked to the camera. This will be equally stupid and worthless, but FUNNY! So why get mad?
14. The leak was deliberate
Patti ,   Israel   (07.06.09)
It's true Lieberman won many Knesset seats. So what? If Kahane hadn't been outlawed he would have too. Would that have made him an appropriate candidate for Foreign Minister, or the minister in charge of the police who are investigating him for serious crimes? He is an embarrassment to Israel, and someone in the room with Sarkozy was asked to leak his comment.
15. #9
Walter ,   Portland, USA   (07.06.09)
Your English is so poor that I can barely make out what you even wrote. Also, it is more than poor form on President Sarkozy's part to call for the resignation of another country's foreign minister. It is actually rank stupidity, if he wishes to influence Israeli policy at all.
16. #11
Walter ,   Portland, USA   (07.06.09)
I guess you believe everything you read uncritically.
17. #15 resignation?
Lisa   (07.06.09)
did anybody talk about resignation? A prime minister can move the ministers around , change their portfolio with giving a reason- he is not accountable to the plebes, nor TBs-- Sarkozy merely suggested (I don't necessarily approve, but this is not important) that Ms- Livni was, and still would be a better Foreign Minister. The usual keyboard warriors, politicians and diplomats are making this into a story that is totally out of proportion- there must be something that needs hiding - to distract the public.... As for influencing Israeli politicians and politics-- Israelis can't even do it themselves- so why would a foreign government try? What's in it for foreign governments. more head daches over the 'one state solution', no, let's make it 'two state solution today'? In the end Israeli will do what it has always done: listen to all and do what IT wants to do regardless of suggestions and diplomatic talks.....
