1. Let's hear it for ynet/yenta
(07.10.09)
Encouraging hatred and mockery as usual/ always. This rabbi interests his followers ONLY. His followers dont follow him to ynet. Ynet also spells yenta.
2. they have no God
Takan ,   Elat   (07.10.09)
This is so wrong, so disrespectful of women and so sick. These guys treat women like a meat factory. Shame on anybody who agrees with these guys. If they think religion is about the number of babies, they are sick. Are they racing against the fanatic Muslims to see who's the most fanatic? The more children we have, the less love and attention we can give to each individually and love and affection is the best basis to educate a child, not religion. EVERY PARENT SHOULD INVEST ALL HIS LOVE UNTIL HIS CHILD REACHES THE AGE OF 6, at least. After that you can consider having another child. Don't forget to leave some space for nature and animals on this planet. Earth doesn't belong to us, we just live on it.
3. Takan #2 just as wrong as Rabbi
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (07.10.09)
The only rule is that there is no rule. It is wrong to prescribe 12 kids to everyone and it is wrong to mandate 6 years between children. Each person and each family has different considerations to factor and to some 1 child is perfect and to others 12 is perfect. I think the Rabbi simply wanted to convey to Jewish families to aspire to have as many children as each family feels is possible, which is a commendable approach.
4. What is this ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.10.09)
This "rabbi" : have 12 children , even some after 40 , don't believe the doctors , only me [ the Rabbi ] and so on . When i see mothers who are themselve still adolescents , carrying two babies , i always think that this "mother" could better be their oldest sister . Poor girls who have to listen to such discourses . Again something to have seculars to respect some religious people ? And then cry we are bashing this rabbi .
5. m e n
Lisa   (07.10.09)
of course the rabbis are men, they don't have children- they just have sex- do women have a choice- or are they just breeding stock?
6. And I have a solution for the "Rabbi"
Global Citizen ,   Israel & USA   (07.10.09)
Rip your guts out 12 times in a row, with the only rest period being filled with heartburn and nausea. Or - here's something even more painful for you and your ilk - be nicer to women so they don't stay single.
7. #3 Besalel
Takan ,   Eilat Israel   (07.10.09)
I didn't mean to mandate 6 years between each birth, I just think this is the period parents should wait in order to fully focus on the child and give all the love and affection he deserves. When you say "to some 1 child is perfect and to others 12 is perfect" you talk about the choice of the parents. I am not talking about freedom of choice for parents; I am talking about what is better for the children. I think the Rabbi simply wants to convey his religious beliefs as more important than the wellness of the children.
8. Enough if this religous balony!!!
Yosi ,   Israel   (07.10.09)
Were fed up already
9. i agree with the rabbi 1000%
rashid ,   palistinian   (07.10.09)
believe me they can all come to palistinianhusband.com and find a good plistinian husband to have 12 kids in four years like what we do believe me
10. Respectable Mating???
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (07.10.09)
What the heck is that and why would anyone even date, leave alone mate, without respect? Maybe I don't understand the concept, but "respectable mating" sounds like closing one's eyes or turning off the lights, so as not to embarrass farm animals doing their thing. I'm surprised this Rabbi doesn't suggest fertility treatments. That way women could produce litters instead of just one child at the time. If I were to have had 10 more of the same little hellions of which I had 2, I would have run away from home and left their father with all that fun. Maybe I'd either still sit in jail for one day just having lost it, or I'd be plucking imaginary bugs out of the air at some loony bin. I notice that the Rabbi didn't mention where and how one is to make enough money to feed, clothe and educate that many children. I could be wrong, but I have the feeling that we'd never made it to the caves of the Neander Valley, if men had figured out what caused morning sickness and all the other fun things inherent in pregnancy.
11. #1 the annon
Lisa   (07.10.09)
I know why you don't dare put a name to your TB- you are embarrassed! This TB has nothing to do with bashing.... it is about common sense.- which is missing from the rabbis speech. I read this article and I feel like vomiting. This rabbi is talking about women like they are livestock. Does he recommend an IQ test before marriage, so only the really smart people multiply? 12 Children and kids after 40? Having children is so easy for men, they feel horny- they have sex- that's it. One more kid 9 months later- so what? The dutiful wife will take care of it... I don't think any single woman in her right mind is this desperate to get married- having to look forward to this kind of life in the trenches.
12. Do not listen to doctors...
Ariel ,   São paulo - Brazil   (07.10.09)
Yes he is right. Every time we have a desease let´s look for a professional rabbi that have all the answers . Let´s close hospitals and so on... It will be a better world , for sure... And do not forget to look for a rabbi when it will be time to deliver the 12 babies...(and feed them)
13. To #9
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (07.10.09)
No wonder you can't get rid of those burqas. You won't let your women out of bed long enough to get dressed...
14. Lisa, Taken and all other hypocrites
Yaron ,   Sacto   (07.10.09)
You talk about comparing the woman to livestock, and then say that the man "only" has sex. So what you are saying is that men are only the sperm banks of the family? Whatever......You give enlightened societies a bad name.
15. kabbalist rabbi speaks in codes
tom ,   toronto, canada   (07.10.09)
it's difficult to comprehend how "birth control stops the abundance". somehow, the rabbi's mystic arithmetic doesn't add up, because fewer children usually means more money for food and clothing and education. the torah doesn't forbid polygamy (the rabbis do), or put a limit in how many wives he can have (unlike islam), but does require that a man be able to support each wife properly. it's only logical to apply the same criterion to children: don't breed 'em if ya can't feed 'em! it's quite unreasonable to expect someone else to foot the bill for your little "mitzvah".
16. #11 Calm down. You're SO excited.
(07.10.09)
These words ain't meant for yu, yu ain't jewish so don't worry honey. #1 is SO right. Mind your own business.

18. 12 Children and the Rabbi
Philip ,   Afula,Israel   (07.10.09)
To Lisa,T>B no 11,Must not mention I>Q tests lest somebody request that this crazy Rav undergo one himself. Guess the results would come as no surprise to anybody.
19. feeling sorry
Lisa   (07.10.09)
I feel sorry for the single women. To be single is not a sickness- are women supposed to marry without Love just to have 12 kids and to please the 'renowned rabbi'? The rabbi does not have the children- he is not 9 months pregnant, he does not change dirty diapers etc.... There is something perverse to pressure women into marrying for the sake of the survival of religion. -
20. What is this? Oh Rabbinical verbal sewage!
(07.10.09)
21. response to #7
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (07.10.09)
When I say to some 1 is perfect and to some 12 is perfect I am talking about families: children and parents. A child benefits tremendously from growing up with siblings the same age. Granted, there needs to be a balance and many factors come into play but to come out and outright state that every child benefits from a 6 year gap is ludacris. every family is different.
22. Lisa is right (19)
Acher ,   Toronto, Canada   (07.10.09)
You are absolutely right Lisa. These rabbinic "leaders" are anything but. They are an embaressment to Jews and Judaism. Shame on them.
23. Copycat
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (07.10.09)
Now the rabbi is attempting to outpope the pope. Just 12 children, don't stop because you are 40, no birth control, keeps the household income up(paid for by the government from taxes from those who work and actually pay taxes). Not only does this rabbi lack respect for women; he lacks respect for anyone with a brain. This man is supposed to be a teacher. With teachers of that ilk, it's no wonder fundamentalist Judaism is self destructing.
24. have 12 kids and the secular tax payer will pay for it
Avi ,   Israel   (07.10.09)
How irresponsible bringing 12 kids in to the world to fullfill some primative religious superstition , no wonder there are so many cases of child abuse in the Ultra orthadox community,
25. #14 Yaron the enlightened
Lisa   (07.10.09)
Yaron, enlightened society- pressuring women into having 12 children? The man contributes very little- let's be truthful here: a few minutes of fun- the woman has weeks of morning sickness, discomfort- 9 months of pregnancy- then a painful birth- you think this is about equal contribution? Let's not even talk about a passel of small children underfooth... IF a woman happily has 12 children fine- good for her, I am all for it - but to have 12 kids only because the rabbi says so? What do you find enlightened about a society like this? It is about choices and free will- not blackmail and pressure. If you do not know the difference, well what can I say.
26. #16 anonymous?
Lisa   (07.10.09)
my business? This has little to do with being Jewish or not. It has everything to do with keeping women in the kitchen- and you know it. it makes the men feel superior. I hope when you pray on Shabbat you think of something other than yourself for a change, LOL
27. Each child is a blessing not a burden
Ana ,   NYC   (07.10.09)
I admired rabbis that say like it is and not what people want to listen with them depressed mentality of the diaspora.
28. #15 - Rabbi's view on income
William ,   Israel   (07.10.09)
I think the rabbi referred to the State stipends families of religious and Arabs receive with large families. Ergo, the more children you have, the bigger your stipend. Have less children and you damage your income.
29. #26 Notice how unpopular you are on these t/backs?You're NOT
jewish,&you NEVER ,   say anything good.   (07.10.09)
30. #11 Believe me, I would DEFINATELY recommend an IQ test for
