1. hahahah what identity up until 80's
ghostq   (07.12.09)
they lived in gangs formation, I do like bed time stories though.
2. palestinian art
tom ,   tel aviv   (07.12.09)
excuse moi! Why oh why, do we degrade ourselves in the name of leftist political culture and allow these "multicultural" events to take place on our soil! Palestinian Culture: you mean the same culture that gave us the "Exploding young men/women" and the cultural gem of "Honor Killings" ? This is their true culture: children unable to trust in the most fundamental (for us anyway) fact of life- unconditional love from ones parents. "C'mon, give me a well-deserved break!
3. "Arts" community gives platform for Palestinian propaganda
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (07.12.09)
It's been remarked that a liberal is one who, in any dispute, will take the other's side. Israel's arts community, like those elsewhere, is distinctly left wing. So of course they'll promote the narrative of the Palestinian, however slanted.
4. typical israeli responses
real observer ,   asia   (07.12.09)
you israelis are always saying that palestinians should embrace non violence and engage with normal relations with israel now here is a palestinian artist doing that, is this palestinian killing or bombing? is this guy undermining the security of the state? but look at your responses, and you people are the polite ones, god knows how the museum going israelis are insulting him, poor guy
5. I agree with: 4. typical israeli responses
Liav ,   Tel Aviv   (07.12.09)
I like your trail of thought with palis embracing non violence and the artist (2 first sentences) but not when you say that they are typically Israeli. One of the talkbacks is based in the US (Raymond), and the other doesnt have an Israeli name (Tom). So I assume he is Oleh, i.e nothing wrong with that at all, just saying... So do remember there are people like me, who is very happy to see this peaceful art display rather violence. Also, you assumed the people visiting the muesum will insult him. You dont know that . I actually doubt he will receive much insult, as those who visit muesums are usually arty, trendy open minded types... The muesum chose to show it.
6. To no. 4
Anna ,   Be'er Sheva, Israel   (07.12.09)
I kinda halfway agree with you. Yeah, this is a positive article, and, dare I say, even hopeful. It SHOULD get positive comments. But please don't say it's a typical behavior. I can't be sure, but I'm guessing your not from Israel... So you don't really know what's typical and what's not. The truth is, most Israelis would want nothing more that to see Palestinians put effort in art instead of war.
7. To #5 Let the people choose to boycott it!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (07.12.09)
I hope tax money is not going to support pali propaganda.
8. #4 - typical internet israeli responses
harry   (07.13.09)
im not a jew nor an israeli. however, i did spend the best part of a year in israel in west jerusalem.from reading the talkbacks on this site and others, you would imagine that the majority of israelis are all extreme rightwing nutjobs who want complete extermination of all non-jews and non jewish cultures in israel and the westbank. i had a very negative idea of what i would encounter before going to live there from paying attention to the gentle folk you find here. however, nothing could be further from the reality. sure, there are extremist nutjobs, but every country has them.most israelis are open minded and even if they dont agree with you are willing to listen to your point of view and discuss it(note:may not apply to the government, but thats a different story). what you get on the talkbacks are all the keyboard warriors and extremist viewpoints that, as #5 pointed out, are often from those that arent even israelis although as jews they feel like they can call for blood from afar. just take a look at some of the talkbacks on the other articles. anyway, i expect vitriolic responses for this post, particularly from ghostq, who i am very curious as to whether he/she does anything else throughout the day except repeat the same 5 or 6 comments on every single news story that appear on this website. in short; dont let the bile you read here (written by the same 10-20 people) distort the truth and paint all israelis as bitter, arrogant fools, because they are not.
9. yes!
Andrea ,   Austria   (07.13.09)
"...'Men in the Sun' – a group show featuring the works of 13 Palestinian and Israeli artists..." This seems to be a very important module, especially today: 1) Palestinian artists and Palestinian art is non-existent in mainstream media and therefore in peoples' minds around the globe. Palestinians are referred to either as terrorists or victims, which leaves us with feelings of fear or sorrow - but none of equality, no respect, nothing in between. 2) An exhibition with Palestinian and Israeli artists united sends out a strong and positive signal. To me it's this kind of signal that is so desperately needed for a just and peaceful solution of today's burning questions in the Middle East. Thank you, Raafat H.!
