with Israel, do the world a favor and don't even bother go to Israel, you r not welcome there go kiss up to the rest of the muslem world. and let Israel be. %#&$^&^
2. Thank G-d there was no "progress" under Bush
Avraham ,   NYC   (07.14.09)
"Progress" means Israeli concessions and further tightening of the noose around Israel's collective neck.
3. The bush admisitration got very far.
rebecca ,   modiin   (07.14.09)
If Abbas had wanted peace he would have got almost everything from Livni. But now both the us and Israel have new leadership. Abbas lost his chance, again.
4. Palestinian demands on Jerusalem, borders, refugees are fiixed
Sam ,   Canada   (07.14.09)
What's there for Obama to do? When did we ever hear of changes in Palestinian demands? Aside from some Palestinian attempts to play down their core demands, there is no change. Israel is not about to meet them.. To try and appease the Palestinians and Muslims in his grand new strategy, Obama made a big deal about settlements. But that's as far as it goes and the Israeli-Palestinian deadlock remains.
5. when we know it will be true
alan   (07.14.09)
When Obama gives the green light, we will know he supports Israel the failure of the last eight years was the illusion that talks would go anywhere. they went no where.
6. US Jews and Obama votes
DT ,   TA Israel   (07.14.09)
Most U.S Jews are Democrats so if they could not see the problems with Obama they are pretty stupid-the problem is that we have to suffer for their stupidity
7. The Problem
Ram ,   London   (07.14.09)
Whether Obama means well or not is totally irrelevant in this case. What Obama and the Jewish do not understand is the way the Palestinians interpret his stance towards Israel. If he truly wanted to resolve the Palestinian Israeli problem one of the best ways would have been to approach the Palestinians and ask them poit blank : "What is it that you demand so you stop incitement, terrorism and accept to live side by side in peace and recognise the State of Israel?" The answer would have told him everything.
8. Obama's strategy
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (07.14.09)
The Obama strategy is to contract Israeli and Jewish power and expand the power of the Palestinians and the Islamic world. Consider how there is constant pressure on Israel in regard to building in the land of Israel. Consider the building up of Palestinian military units. Consider the constant demand for further Israeli withdrawals so that Fatah can have control over larger territory. Obama does not want Israel destroyed but he wants it cut down significantly in power. He does not seem to be especially worried about whether it would survive such a cut.
9. Israel was literally on fire.
Kevin ,   Canada   (07.14.09)
When Bush took office in 2001, Israel was in a very serious security situation largely as a result of Bill Clinton’s policies (read “Shimon Perez and Ehud Barak had policy’s that also contributed, but their gross incompetence leaves them as President and Minister of Defense”). It was literally being set on fire by Palestinian terrorists (read “Fata”). With Bush’s support Sharon was able to restore security and thus defeat Arafat’s second intifada. If progress was interrupted under Bush (read “Israel defeating the terrorists”), it was because his support was so helpful in quashing the intifada Israeli leadership got overconfident (read “stupid”) and did things like the disengagement (read “the public helped by electing Olmert”). Obama is attempting to re-write history so that he can claim an Israeli defeat is actually unprecedented success. Of course, nobody from our “Jewish leadership” (read “Jewish people who are supportive of Obama and then were chosen by Obama’s people to meet with him as Jewish leadership so that it sounds like they speak for constituents or actually hold positions”) will actually speak truth to power. The emperor has no clothes and Obama’s strategy is no more sound than Clinton’s was (read “Tehran is laughing at him”).
