Cooperation? it's Egypt's inspection, Israel's submission The Egyptians would pay a lot to know how Hezbullah's C-802 missiles damaged the INS Hanit to a near sinking experience. They already knew how they made the INS Eilat senior pass through full blown sinking in 1967 near Alexandria by very little missile boats. Egyptians are not interested in Dolphin sub's nuke but are really interested in its system of surface navigation; that's why they allowed its to and fro journey.

for allowing Israeli warships through the Canal. A lot of commercial traffic coming from the Far East up from the Indian Ocean needs to transit through to Europe to discharge cargo. The shortest way is to enter the Gulf of Aden, and up the Red Sea into the Canal. The Somali pirates know this. For each ship on its way to the Suez Canal taken by the pirates, the Egyptians lose anywhere between $50,000 and $130,000 in Suez Canal transit fees. This show of gunboat diplomacy is more intended to thwart piracy than anything else, although a secondary underlying purpose is a welcome benefit to Israel if it threatens her foes.
