1. "Breaking the Silence" report against IDF
Spencer ,   Israel   (07.15.09)
These "brave" anonymous soldiers who gave "evidence" to this anti Israel political body are probably all left wing activists. This is another typical example of bias against Israelby a body relying on left-wing activists' unsupported testimony to slander Israel. It's a pity we don't know who tehse 'witnesses " were because if we did I am sure an investigation of them would show just how ubrelieble they are.
2. I believe DM Mr. Barak on this point...
(07.15.09)
No I am not naive and I am not even a leftist but over the years through observation of DM Mr. Barak's actions as Chief of Staff and as DM I have learned that when he makes a statement of this kind he means it! Mr. Barak has exhibited a high level of personal commitment (and true positive action) to the bereaved families of soldiers as well as to the ethical code of the army. Therefore when he says that soldiers should bring these complaints directly to him I do believe that in this matter he is not acting as a politian he is acting as a person with a high level of commitment in making sure that not only is the IDF "the best little army in the whole wide world" but he is also committed to making sure that the IDF is "the best and most honorable little army in the whole wide world!" (Now if he would only show the same kind of commitment in other areas of his political life I think we would all be much appreciative of his worth as a politician!)
3. "Breaking the Silence"...Bravo !!
Tip ,   Dubai   (07.15.09)
Hahaha The irony here is funny, the name of this brave organization & how Barak wants to silence the truth by telling IDF soldiers "comes to us" rather than to the press. IDF have nothing to hide if they didn't do all the monstrous things, which of course they did knowing their past actions. Hope the whole worlds sees this because its the truth & it needs to come out.
4. Barak and Livni
(07.15.09)

6. I got one critism...
ghostq   (07.15.09)
you r an idiot. much like the idea to connect gaza with the WB by bridge, your militery background is long gone behind you you r polititian not militery man anymore and the standarts that were in the 90's r no longer valid. BTW thanks for the 67 offer in the 90's the fools think that offer is still valid y did you get their hopes up you knew they wouldn't take it, and you need to watch what you r saying cause who knows what the futur holds, the IDF won't adress you but will point the finger at you. no so smart move I reckon.

BEN ,   SINGAPORE   (07.15.09)
ARE A THREAT TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY OF ISRAEL. THEY MADE ATTEMPTS SUCH AS THESE BEFORE IN OTHER NATION DEFAMING THE LAWFULL MILTARY OF SOVERIGN NATION. tHEY ARE NOW ATTEMPTING TO DO THE SAME TO THE IDF. THE WHOLE REPORT IS DEFAMATORY AND A TREASON ! BEN SINGAPORE
9. TO THE DM BARAK
BEN ,   SINGAPORE   (07.15.09)
YOU SHOULD ARREST THIS ACTIVIST THE WITHOUT TRIAL - YOU NEED THE INTERNAL SECURITY ACT !
10. Ehud Barak has done the honourable thing here
Steve   (07.15.09)
As Defense Minister, Ehud Barak is right to address this issue in the way that he has. When there is an issue regarding IDF ethics, the buck stops with the Defense Minister. As for these 'activists', if there honestly were violations of IDF regulations, then they should report the violations to the Military Police so that there can be a proper investigation.

(07.15.09)
so nobody will know about it !!!! LOL WHAT A CRAP !!!
19. now I know why Barak said: the most moral army
observer   (07.15.09)
One Gazan recalled civilians in Gaza shouting at Hamas and Islamic Jihad men, "Go away, go away from here! Do you want the Israelis to kill us all? Do you want our children to die under their bombs? Take your guns and missiles with you. You bastard, do you believe in his saying; "the most moral army"?
20. #18, Barak is right, what you wrote is crap
Jake   (07.15.09)
Get it into your head, the media is not their to investigate allegations, it is there to make a scoop, and send it on the public. It's a BUSINESS, didn't you learn that by now? In order for the IDF to investigate these allegations and punish those allegedly responsible, accurate details need to be supplied to those in charge. In this case there were no details, no names, no specifics, nothing, zip, nada. All that happened was an organization with an axe to grind, funded by EU, went and "spilled the beans" to the foreign media. Anyone who falls for that is simply pathetic and myopic.
21. #19, you just vindicated Israel's case. Thank you.
Jake   (07.15.09)
"One Gazan recalled civilians in Gaza shouting at Hamas and Islamic Jihad men, "Go away, go away from here! Do you want the Israelis to kill us all? Do you want our children to die under their bombs?" Well said, well said. In other words, Hamas and the Jihadis occupy civilian areas and attack Israel from within civilian quarters, and Israel -far from targetting civilians - is merely responding to attacks against it from those terrorist groups.
22. Look what BBC says about "Breaking the Silence"
Jake   (07.15.09)
"The group is funded by the British, Dutch and Spanish governments, as well as the EU. " It should be required to register as a foreign organization.
23. #21 speaking of human shields, the only kind in testimonies;
observer   (07.16.09)
Most people did leave, but some civilians stayed to watch over the houses. Perhaps they had nowhere else to go. Later we saw people there who could not walk, some simply stayed to keep watch. To every house we close in on, we send the neighbor in, 'the Johnnie'. The commanders tell what they saw and make sure we know how things work on the inside. They also talked about things that bothered them. They said that civilians were used to a greater extent than just sending them into houses. For example, some of them were made to smash walls with 5 kilo hammers. There was a wall around a yard where the force didn't want to use the gate, it needed an alternative opening for fear of booby-traps or any other device. So the "Johnnies" themselves were required to bang open another hole with a hammer. This procedure of using civilians exists, he knows about this. 'Neighbor procedure' is an official army procedure; it's just not called that any longer. The brigade commander was on the ground the whole time. He even came to visit us one day. An official army procedure means army instructions.
24. #22 Israel is funded by US, still not registered as foreign
