A female friend once told me that she once stayed in a hotel with a group of blind people. The rabbi must know that the blind, both male and female use their sense of touch to "see" their mates. Since the face is what is most desired to visualize, that is what is touched. Our fingertips are most sensitive and are capable of detecting many nuances in another's features. Then, our hearing is another tool in defining another person. The voice, it's tone, it's volume, can be a critical tool as well. Man has many senses, sight is merely one.
