1. Extradite them to Iran!
Sean ,   London, UK   (07.16.09)
I used to look at the Charedim as 'funny uncles' but events of the last few weeks have shown them to be entirely wicked people. They think that chilonim parking on a Saturday is more a desecration of the sabbath than hurling molotov cocktails at the police!?!? And now they demonstrate that they think child abuse is virtuous thing!?!? NK are always hugging the worst antisemites and regard A-Jad as their pal - maybe they should go and live with the 'poor man's Hitler' in Tehran...
2. solution
adi   (07.16.09)
all should be send to Iran..they are better there.. Judasim doesnt teach to hurt own fellowmen neither others,, and that to for a mother who is psycho and needs help herself and starved her son... WAKE UP and pray for good rather than protesting,, you guys are not working as you want to pray, so what happen now..
3. Disgrace
carol ,   eilat   (07.16.09)
SOMEONE HAS TO STOP THESE PEOPLE ARREST ALL OF THEM WILL BE GOOD FOR THEM TO SPEND SHABBAT IN PRISON
4. IEC won't service the haredi neighborhood
Ger ,   Raanana, Israel`   (07.16.09)
That's not going to be a problem. Their mentality is that of the 17th century anyway.
5. Why no rubber bullets?
dorothy friend ,   tel aviv   (07.16.09)
They are used on other rioters. Is this discrimination against the haredim? Don't they deserve the best the police has?
6. Something fishy is going on here..
Dana   (07.16.09)
There have been claims that the doctors are wrongfully accusing this woman of starving her son in order to avoid a malpractice lawsuit. Apparently, her son was going through chemotherapy since he was 1 as he was misdiagnosed with cancer by the same doctors who called the police on his mother. It seems really odd that the Haredi community would rally for no good reason in support of this woman. No Israeli newspaper has even given a reason for the protests.. Could it be possible that they are intentionally leaving out this vital piece of information?
7. the peacfull ways of the palis, no waite...
ghostq   (07.16.09)
that's the ultra-Orthodox rioters, no wait... pagans, finally yeah the pagans... well the ultra orthodox also have a prophet. (scratching my head, they want the massia to come after this, baaaaaaa hot headed bastards).
8. An arrest produces this kind of unrest?
Cameron ,   USA   (07.16.09)
Who exactly are the Haredi to pull this kind of game on the streets? I know little of this ultra-orthodox, introverted crew, but I have noticed the last couple of years that they seem obsessed with squeezing as much as they can from the state, and giving as little as possible in return. The city fathers do right by letting this lot stew in their own stink & garbage as a proper return for bad behavior. An appropriate payback.
9. Parasitic sects violence
Eli ,   Israel   (07.16.09)
Municipal services, Electric company made a right moves. What about Bituah Leumi, the only institution in Israel recognized by Haredi anti-Jewish sects? Why those parasites should have any support from the people they hate?
10. Maybe if this had been handled differently . . .
vered ,   israel   (07.16.09)
This can't be the only incident of child abuse in Israel. Why did this make it to the news? Maybe if it had been handled discreetly, just maybe there wouldn't have been riots. If not, maybe these people are totally irrational and an insult to Judaism, and to God, for that matter.
11. Still?
Talula ,   Israel   (07.16.09)
Why wasn't this nipped in the bud yesterday? Why are the police not using brut force on these repulsive scumbags?
12. STOP This madenss ..the heavens are crying
Al   (07.16.09)
The hold city of Jerusalem is being rocked by rioting by supposed religious Jews. Do you have any idea how the anti-semites around the world are laughing with glee? Can you spell the words Chillul Hashem? Shabbos is coming, go shopping for the shabbos and when it comes ask for forgivness for being stupid the past several days...
13. #6-Wouldn't it make sense to rather seek a lawyer though?
Ypip ,   Canada   (07.16.09)
I mean where's the media going to get you except with all sorts of dumbed-ass opinion?
14. #10 - Like How?
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (07.16.09)
"This can't be the only incident of child abuse in Israel. Why did this make it to the news? Maybe if it had been handled discreetly, just maybe there wouldn't have been riots. If not, maybe these people are totally irrational and an insult to Judaism, and to God, for that matter. " -------------------------- No, it isn't the only case and Ynet has covered the others as well. But it seems that other child abusers did not send out their buddies to riot in the street. And why in the world should something as evil as child abuse be "handled disgreetly"? If anything, cases of child abuse should be publicised more most crimes.
15. These strange folk
Sagi ,   Israel   (07.16.09)
caused the population of Eastern Europe to hate them and as a consequence all of us. Now they are causing all Israelis to hate them. Yes I use this word, hate. I hang my head low. I am ashamed. I have contempt for them and also for the authorities for their complete lack of action. The Mayor of the city should resign as should the Chief of Police. The actions of these scumbags reflect on all of us, due to media coverage in the world. Can anyone imagine a horde of religious fanatics in any Western country, of any denomination, acting in such an animalistic fashion.
16. Time for "Tough Love" solution...
(07.16.09)
Set up a perameter and lock them into their neighborhood! They want to riot, they want to throw stones, they want to burn garbage...well let them... no services, no police protection or engagment, no fire department services, and absolutely no ambulances in or out! Do that for 24 hours and watch them cool down really fast!
17. Extradite ?
# 1 Sean, London   (07.16.09)
In order to extradite someone the other side must file an official request. I sincerely doubt that Iran would request to have such a motley crew on their soil, in spite of all the hugs and kisses in the past. They have enough to contend with without our surplus exports.
18. 20 Years In Jail...
Yehudah, Torah Jew ,   Yerushalayim   (07.16.09)
Interesting how these disgusting gutter slime can't take time away from their Torah studies [sic] to defend the country or even get a job, but to savage the Holy City and desecrate the Holy Sabbath--that's OK! Throw these bums in jail, or better yet, deport them back to Boro Park and Stamford Hill. Chilul Hashem in the extreme!
19. Moshiach
Nathaniel Jhirad ,   Mumbai, India   (07.16.09)
How will this bring the Moshiach??? Hypocrite of Ahavat Yisrael
20. anti haredi bias
yonatan ,   manchester uk   (07.16.09)
Maybe some of you people who are quick to believe any article putting down haredim can at least consider that there usually are two sides to every story and read this article http://www.vosizneias.com/35046/2009/07/15/jerusalem-father-of-meah-shearim-mother-accused-of-abusing-child-imprisoned-speaks-others-continue-protest/
21. #14 Because of #20
vered ,   israel   (07.16.09)
Also, in most countries someone is ruled innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, even when there is filmed evidence. In Israel that no longer seems the case, and the news often deletes sections of a story allowing the reader to come to the conclusion they want the reader to come to.
22. to #20 lol weird it's not only on this media
ghostq   (07.16.09)
riots r riots, violence is violence, there r other more decent ways to show protest and ultra orthodox chose violence much like the palis. you can't argue with that, it only showes that orthodoxes have no respect for the Israely legal system and they bend thos when it's convinient.
23. to #21 duhhhhhhhh...
ghostq   (07.16.09)
what do you thing the James Bond movie tomorow never dies is all about, the one who controll media controll the people, not just in Israel every where, it's not a new thing BUT finally Israel also caught that virus, and in this case it's more alarming to see abusive mother that can't be responsible for her own actions cause she suffer from mentall disease and how people around knew about her mental condition and didn't do adamn thing to stop her, her own son weight like children in Sumaly in a country that have food. she could have killed her own child and the orthodox environment it is more than posible cause they don't care about the children well being.
24. #21 - with you on that.....
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (07.16.09)
....but the way you were going on about objects used to collect evidence being man made and therefore liable to fail, I thought at first you wanted something like Trial By Ordeal, where it's all left in some supreme being's hands. Hey, I am pretty sure there are people like that here.
25. Riots
Mark ,   Israel   (07.16.09)
It's obvious that we need to get this into perspective. There are between 600 and 700 000 haredim in Israel. How many of them are behaving like hooligans?
26. Police did nothing in Bet Shemesh
Bet Shemesh resident ,   Bet Shemesh, Israel   (07.16.09)
"The protest also spread outside Jerusalem, with some 100 haredim protesting and hurling stones in the city of Beit Shemesh. They were dispersed by a police force. " I was there. The police did nothing. They sent in undercover guys to take pictures and they just stood around.
27. Just throw them in jail
Liz   (07.16.09)
When will be be able to make these people understand that they CANNOT behave this way and get away with it... They just think they are above the law! They are NOT!!!!!
28. causing the destruction of the 3rd Temple
Truth Hertz ,   UK   (07.16.09)
and its not even built yet! This is a complete Chillul Hashem. What do they think is worse, an am haaretz parking his car on Shabbat or Torah scholars rioting and trying to kill their fellow Jews?
29. Riots are wrong
Michael ,   Israel   (07.16.09)
1) Under no circumstance is inciting to riot correct. 2) The haredim in Jerusalem receive far more support in exchange for far less contribution than most groups in Jerusalem. They are currently upset that in-fighting cost them to lose "their guy" in the mayor's office. 3) These riots are not about the woman and her son. They are about a quest for and exercise of power. It's just a convenient rallying cause....they were acting like this last week about parking. Next week it's likely to be about something else. Let them do non-violent protest if they need to express themselves. 4) the tragedy is that the kids growing up in this neighborhood will think that violence against the state is the wisest action.
30. Time for a non-haredi riot in their neighbourhoods ...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem Israel   (07.16.09)
Are the police on vacation??? I'm sick of the smell of burning rubber, plastic and garbage. But I'm willing to deal with it one more time. I think the rest of the city should dump all of their garbage in the neighbourhoods of the perpetrators and set fire to it. Maybe just before Shabbat and give these guys a taste of their own medicine. Eye for an Eye ;P
