John ,   Jerusalem   (07.21.09)
2. Alice in wonderland! Wake up Alex, it is them who does not
Moshe   (07.21.09)
to talk to us on reasonable terms. We need to be at least two to make peace.
3. TIME FOR ACTION - YES !!!.
ORAO STRANKA. ,   TSARIGRAD U SRBIA.   (07.21.09)
Ministers, wake up Now that Israel is in position of power, we need to take action YES - !!!, PREPERE FOR WAR WITH IRAN,SYRIA,HIZBOLLAH AND HAMAS, SIMULTANIOUSLY !!!. SYRIA COULD BE THE FIRST TO STRIKE ISRAEL !!!. Orao.
4. Totally agree...
Akram ,   Paris / Beirut   (07.21.09)
... with this article. Finally the Israelis are starting to understand that taking initiatives towards peace, especially on the Northern front, would take out one of the most powerful cards from the hands of Hezbollah. Knowing Lebanon very well, this initiative will give a huge advantage to the camp of peace in Lebanon and it will be a huge blow to Hezbollah. Go ahead and withdraw from Shebaa farms and leave Hezbollah's arms to be dealt with internally.
5. Destroying gaza is not the solution
jason white ,   afula,israel   (07.21.09)
Destroying a good part of the civilian population is. Let the enemies learn that sending soldiers or terrorists will result in huge civilian losses. Maybe the soldiers and terrorist will refuse to harm Israel?
6. Jason in Afula
Wisam ,   Gaza city   (07.21.09)
Why is all this killing for? You want to wipe a portion of our population so that people like your self immigrate and settle on our land... Not gonna happen sorry...
7. Time to act
Rita ,   Yel Aviv   (07.21.09)
We should liberate Gaza and send Hamas back to Sudan. The peace must be restored to Gaza. Let them abbashamas go to Sudan.
8. #6 - Wisam - don't pay attention to Jason...
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (07.21.09)
He's a foaming-at-the-mouth, hateful moron. How else could he respond to this article with that kind of talkback that isn't even really on point? Of course whose land it it is open to negotiation. And of course, Jews will always immigrate and settle Jewish land. You can use expression like "our land" with your own people if you want to and have them accept it - but we know that the history of whose land it is, is the center of our disputes. The point of the article is that there are solutions to this dispute - and the time to pursue them is now. We can agree though that Jason White pretty much will advocate more killing in any given instance. Here he straight up advocates killing Gazan civilians. He is really a sick man.
9. thats the idiots guide to peace not the politicians guide
zionist forever   (07.21.09)
There is alot more to Lebanon that Shebba Farms which Syria hasn't even formerly waived claims to. The minute we offer Sheba to Lebanon on orders from Assad Hizbullah will step in and say no Golan to Syria no peace with Lebanon Sheba is not enough. 2) There is to much hatred between Israel & Lebanon right now so even if there was a will to make peace there may not be a way. 3) This is the backdoor to loosing the entire Golan especially with Obama in the White House. The United States has publicly sided with Israels enemies & we can't count on them for anything anymore. Obama will say well look Israel is willing to give up land with Lebanon then it should also give up land to Syria. Then it will be boost the preasure on Israel to give more land to the palestinians because Obama will say you gave away land & settlements so do it in the south. We should be trying to make peace with Lebanon and attempt to drive a wedge between Syria & Lebanon but not through grand gestures which lead to nobel prizes. It needs to be through secret talks with the people in charge. As for Gilad Shalit the reason he wasn't returned 3 years ago is for the simple reason that Hamas demands are to high. Hamas have not been willing to compromise on their demands over Shalit. Noam Shalit can say no price is to high but the government cannot run its policies on emotion & must say every man has a price.
10. Stupid to the extreme
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.21.09)
The Arabs are not willing to compromise on any issues, nor fulfill any of their obligations. Time to prepare and consolidate. The next attacks are merely a matter of time and opportunity.

ORAO STRANKA. ,   TSARIGRAD U SRBIA.   (07.21.09)
AGREE TO THIS EXEPT THE PRIZE FOR SHALIT - As for Gilad Shalit the reason he wasn't returned 3 years ago is for the simple reason that Hamas demands are to high. Hamas have not been willing to compromise on their demands over Shalit. Noam Shalit can say no price is to high but the government cannot run its policies on emotion & must say every man has a price. THE PRIZE FOR NOT FREEING SHALLIT MUST BE, TO STARVE THE GAZANS TO DEATH, THE CAPTURE OF THE WHOLE OF GAZA, AND THE EXTERMINATION OF HAMAS. Orao.
13. expert
marcel   (07.21.09)
Who made fishman a military expert, that he graduated from some think tannk at hebrew university, the study place of israel's talansky and tours crook and liar olmert?Israel has talked enough and made enough concessions which are revoked. We are not going back to olmert's munich starting point as ishmael obama would like. We are reverting to jordan is palestine, most of the mandate. In the meantime, Fishman should be counselling mazuz who is trembling in his shoes as he is likely to lose all the olmert cases. If he does he will be recognized as the most hapless justice minister and will never be offered a job again in any important public or private capacity. The state must appoint experienced pracitioners not academics to run the legal system. Mazuz is a disgrace with his endless verification and stalling.
14. #4 - Akram, But history dictates the opposite...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (07.21.09)
... any territory Israel "disengages" from suffers from a power vacuum that is filled by Islamic extremists. Cases in point include S Lebanon and Gaza. Peace agreements with Egypt and Jordan were only possible because those countries feature strong central governments that have no qualms dealing mercilessly with the local branches of the Muslim Brotherhood that pose a threat to their grip on power. But both you and I know that this is not the case in Lebanon, a fledgling democracy still fighting with its last breath to free itself from Assad's iron fist. The fact of the matter is that Lebanon cannot deal with Hezbollah's arms internally- we saw that only a year ago when the Lebanese Army squared away with Hezbollah and was forced to grant the party veto power over any legislation in Lebanese parliament. The sooner Lebanon and the Lebanese people are able to come not only to this conclusion, but also to the conclusion that Hezbollah must be eradicated regardless of the human cost, the sooner the quality of life for all of us here will be greatly improved. Your suggestions sound great in theory, Akram, but history dictates how miserably they will fail for all inhabitants here if put into action...
15. Fishman draws all the wrong conclusions.
Steve   (07.21.09)
Alex Fishman wrote: "For the time being, Gaza is quiet. Operation Cast Lead paralyzed it. About 90% of Hamas’ military industries were destroyed. The scars of the destruction and defeat have been etched into the consciousness. As long as Hamas does not find an effective operational solution, the quiet will continue." There is one lesson that needs to be drawn from this exercise. Our enemies understand and respect force; and only force. Like the Hamas charter says, "Initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences, are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement." They are exaclty right. Beyond that, initiatives, negotiations and so-called peaceful solutions with Israel's enemies are in contradiction to the principles of Jewish law.
16. Andy ramat hasharon. 90% of Gazans polled in 2005 support
jae ,   yerushaliyim   (07.21.09)
murdering jewish babies toddlers infnats women old people and men aka CIVILIANS. yes they support homicide bombers and they have a homicide bomber hall of fame. lots of virgins up there for dismemebering babies. a lovely thought indeed (sarcasm). These civilians voted hamas in by 80%. civilians hide bombs and fighter and tunnels. In case you havent notice out there in lalla land, the insular bubble of ramat hasharon, 10,000 missiles have raineddown indiscriminately against the jewish populations of southern Israel (not that you would know, you dont live there), paralyzing Jewish life and wounding or murdering hundreds. So they support a civilian killing machine. If they killed you or me there'd be dancing in the streets, candies passed out to the children and oogling out the windows. But people like you look down on them, and apparently, ignore them. Im not saying to do a heroshima like our american friends did...but I am saying you need to confornt relaity- these are a murderous intolerant culture who are not peaceful and only listen to force. why is why israel is in the mess its in. Never failed to miss an opportunity to assert itself when it had the opportunity ('67 war for instance)
17. Jea - since you don't know WTF you are talking about....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (07.21.09)
and you don't know me, where I live, where I work, where I go, I spent a good bit of cast lead with cousins in Sderot. And they at my house. The only bubble is your bubble head. I am not advocating a kum zitz with murderers. Are you advocating Jason's plan to carpet bomb civilian centers in Gaza? And deliberately target civilians? Israel can and has "asserted" ourselves when we need to. We just aren't animals. We are Jews.
18. Ministers' make-up?
observer   (07.21.09)
is that for Israeli public, Americans, or Arabs?
19. Nobody thinks pre 67 Israel belongs to us
avrom ,   bet shemesh   (07.21.09)
so shall we give it back we have quiet because we smote our enemies the more we smite them the more peace we will have wheras making peace with them cuases war the history from the sinai withdrawal proves my point
20. Good point!
Avi ,   USA   (07.21.09)
21. it is not
suha ,   rammoon   (07.22.09)
shebba farms or golan or settelments it is not east jerusalem but the base of taking the land by force ....... yesterday a friend was listining to a teacher told the jewish students that israil won the war in 1948 and again in 67 but in 73 had the peace with egypt ..... lastly the friend said the students was listining as if the teacher lectured about england and argentina ........
22. Ever notice...
James Hovland ,   USA   (07.23.09)
Ever notice how someone advocating violence as the only answer will defend their views because the 'other side' only knows violence? Curious isn't it? When you take an IQ test and the results seem quite impressive, don't let it go to your head. You're not that smart, everyone else is just that stupid.
