31. Obama response
ben Ish   (07.23.09)
I expect Obama will blame Israel for this statement from Fatah, and demand that all construction be stopped, everything built in the last ten years torn down, and 20M NIS paid to the PA for "?mumbl!mumble?!" Then when we get 80 rockets a day in TA and Haifa, Obama and the UN can declare it proves Israel didn't move fast enough towards peace, and obviously don't want it.
32. Free Palestine first then peace would come to all

So what and who cares !? It would be a lie anyway.
34. Ignore nour and marco
Timothy   (07.23.09)
we are ignoring them as their comments are always the same no matter what. I actually do not understand why they spend somuch time on an Israeli news site-kind of a hang up I suppose. Anyway they are set in their ideas totally, say nasty racist things and are best igored-it is the best medicine as it infuriates them. They then revertto silly comments as they cannot continue their "argument"! quite fun to see.
35. it goes both ways, Israel won't recognize

palestinian rights, see how simple it is, btw Israel is declaired by law, meaning he declaired he will never obey international law, and as such criminal deserve to be in jail.

38. "We will maintain the resistance option in all its forms.."
Amihai ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.23.09)
Thus, we shall not recognize Israel's right to be, to exist, and certainly not as the nation-state of the Jewish people, despite the fact that Israel was proclaimed the nation-state of the Jewish people based on UN resolutions and was accepted as such as a member state in good standing into the UN and has been a member of this organization since 1949. And not only that, they will maintain the option of "resistance", i.e. terrorism, "in all its forms", despite all agreements between Israel and the leadership of the Muslim-Arab leadership of the Palestinians. Are we fooling ourselves when we deal with such people? Do we cover our eyes so as not to see reality for what it is, thus are able to live in one we have manufactured for ourselves in our own minds? Let us wake up to reality: Mahmoud Abbas and the people surrounding him are Fatah people. These people don't now and have never recognize Israel's right to be and would do all that they can to wipe it off the face of earth the moment they could. And these are the "moderators" among Israel's Muslim-Arab neighbors...!!!
39. So Don't Recognize...
Rafael ,   Yerushalayim, Israel   (07.23.09)
Our Arab enemies won't recognize us and Obama may be calling for a building freeze in Jerusalem, but the Jewish heart is burning to build the Holy Temple! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pHXZyNNes0

45. #34 Timothy
Marco ,   Spain   (07.23.09)
Thanx Timothy. Your rambling post is the best testimony that myself and Nour are on the right track!
46. Fatah is done
Farouk ,   Jerusalem   (07.23.09)
Palestinians do not care about Fatah and Hamas and PFLP and the other relics. In fact majority of Palestinians know that the outcome of the conference is expected to split Fatah further as they cannot invent themselves since everything about them has expired. Faisal Husseini made a statement before he died, he said "Fatah lost and the Fatah corrupt cronies have won” He was right, there is not Fatah as a political movement or what have you, it is like a family business with the aged first generation competing with younger generation on Fatah assets, money and power over their militias. These cronies like their counterparts in Hamas, use the Palestinian people as bargaining chips; a cheap commodity to trade their false nationalism. Enough. Fatah and Hamas should disappear and new parties should form, I wish as this is very unlikely since all such attempts were sabotaged by the so called fair Peace brokers. To ensure their influence on the events and get their way, the Israeli government, USA and moderate Arab states keep Fatah in a coma, while Iran, Syria and other Radical Arabs keep Hamas in the intensive care. Neither really dead, but both killing their people slowly and surely.
47. this is exactly what we say
El Puerco Marco ,   MadreImperio Español   (07.23.09)
no recognition of independent Catalonia, Basque country, Gibraltar, Ceuta, Melita we wouldn't recognize Latin America either if they didn't fight us and throw us illegal invaders out like Zionists did to illegal Arabs
48. More Important
Y ,   Somewhere USA   (07.23.09)
This seems like a more critical hinderance to peace negotiations than adding some apartments in East Jerusalem. However you won't see this story make the front pages of NYT or get a write up in Time magazine.
49. to # 21 sarah , keep dreaming
saher   (07.23.09)
hope you live too long to see how this land will back to us :)
50.  & Time magazine said talk to Hamas?
David ,   New England   (07.23.09)
The June 22, 2009 issue of Time magazine has an article by Peter Beinart saying that Obama should keep the heat on Israel and that "getting tough on settlements is a necessary first step for Middle East peace." On the very next page Joe Klein says "..and start talking to Hamas. A meeting in Damascus shows why the U.S. must be prepared to deal with all sides". And the Obama administration wants us to read Miranda rights to captured terrorists. The world has not gone insane?
