1. They dwell on that, while we regard Naphtali Herz Imber
Ypip ,   Canada   (07.23.09)
2. you live in a country so respect his national
ghostq   (07.23.09)
costums like every other country, you use that stat education system and get funds from it so get her curiculum you don't want to create a private education system with your own funding. other wise shuuuuuuuuut up.
3. Require it at all state funded schols - including religious
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (07.23.09)
If the state is paying any part of the fees then they should require this part of the education (even where they do not require math or science) as it is our 3500 year old link to this country and our yearning g to return even befor Mohammad was born.
4. Wavishing...Hehehehehehehe!
Roy ,   USA   (07.23.09)
Fine. If you think you are "getting raped" in Israel, wait until you see what happens to your Arab hineys when Israel revokes your citizenship for "Treason Against the State," and "trades you off" to the "Palestinian Territories," where your foolish Arab butts so obviously belong, in exchange for Jewish settlements that WILL teach the Israeli National Anthem!
5. Just change the lyrics in Arabic.
Yisrael ,   Jerusalem, ISRAEL   (07.23.09)
This was done in Canada, as the anthem has different lyrics in English and French. Even though I am a fierce Zionist, I can hardly expect non-Jews to share our 2000 year old dream. As for the Arab protests, as I am fond of saying, half of what Arabs say is lies, the other half is horse manure.
6. I agree with the Arabs
T.I ,   Israel   (07.23.09)
The incumbent goverrnment has a facist leaning and it must be stopped before domestic Intifada will break out. In this regard, the anthem is totally unilateral towards Jewish legacy, thus it's outrageous how hermetic mindsets of ultra-nationalist keep being the dominant force within the Jewish sector. Personally, I am ashamed of being "rebellious" Israeli.
7. Part of the Arab Palestinian people?
george ,   Toronto, Canada   (07.23.09)
Citizens of Israel are Israelis; Arab citizens are Arab Israelis; Arab Palestinians cannot also be Arab Israelis and citizens of Israel. No matter how many times the words are twisted and repeated it won't change the reality that these people cannot be both. They have to choose and if they don't want to be Arab Israelis, give up their Israeli citizenship.
8. Wow, even I agree
5th generation ,   Israel   (07.23.09)
Songs and jargons are just empty words on an absolute level, and if they represent an experience that is not shared - the Jewish diaspora hoping for Jerusalem - it is alienating, not motivating. Empty words are what drive radical Islam, don't forget. You want to instill traditional Israeli values? Teach them about tzedkah, tie it into their own Christian and Muslim equivalents, and for Allah's sake convince them that hard work and not revenge is the key to success. Maybe some of the newer Israeli slacker generations will pick up a thing or two and return to our roots.
9. Forcing Religion is a Rape!
Jewish Refugee ,   East Bank, Jordan   (07.23.09)
Forcing Kids to hate the world and become suicide bombers is a crime against humanity a child abuse. Forcing your woman to be slaves not wives thats a rape. Live with that truth arab educators. For more about the Middle Eastern Charade please visit: http://israelactnow.blogspot.com/
10. Anthem like rape?
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (07.23.09)
This is pure B-S. I come from the States, all education in States during the 50-60's. All American schools in those days said the American anthem and at various events sang religious and holiday songs. I sang them as everyone else, thought they were nice songs (you know, even with name Jesus). All that, and my brain was never brainwashed (maybe it's too thick !). In fact, I turned out a better Jew than rest of family - even parents that were raised Orthodox (and they ate, not me, non-Jewish items).
11. National Anthem. Palestinian People?
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv   (07.23.09)
1. It's a national anthem. Or do you not identify with Israel as your nation? Israel was founded as the Jewish homeland. This is fundamental to the identity of the country, and while it does not hurt your civil liberties you are required to respect that. 2. There are no Palestinian People. This is a misnomer and anyone who knows anything and still uses the term is disingenuous and twisting history for political gain. Palestinians are Arabs, nothing more nothing less. Even mundane Arabs that make up the vast majority of the Middle East deserve to be treated as equals. I have no problem with that. I do have a problem with propaganda.
12. Arab students' minds ALREADY raped by their teachers
Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (07.23.09)
Arab teachers, by teaching ISRAELI Arab students to despise the country in which they live, indoctrinating them full of Arabist and Islamist propaganda and lies and racism, feeding them a constant diet of a fabricated Arab narrative of the history of an imaginary "Palestine" and the so-called "Palestinian ethos" which suddenly magically appeared in the 1960's - this is indeed the rape of innocent minds. I am not a WASP, but growing up in America, I learned the story of the Pilgrims, Calvinism, Puritanism, Manifest Destiny, the Founding Fathers and the National Anthem. Living in Italy, I have learned the Italian language, culture, all about the predominant Catholic religion and culture, and of course the Italian national anthem, for which I stand up at all public events when it is played. Not instructing Israeli Arabs in the culture of the country in which they live is indeed raping their minds - by closing them. This is why the reign of Yuli Tamir, the ex-Minister of Education, was a disaster to both Jews and Arabs alike. Her agenda was to rape the entire Israeli educational system, disemboweling it of any Jewish or Israeli-Zionist values or material. The reason that the pendulum is now swinging to the right in Israeli education is to recover from the horrific disaster of Tamir's deep damage to the system. It is also vital to counteract years and years of Arabist lies and dis-information fed non-stop to Arab and Jewish students alike. If not now, when?
13. Isn't rape legal by them?
potash katiftof ,   tel aviv   (07.23.09)
Pretty chutzpadik for them to be yapping how to treat society, especially when they rape their own people and give them no rights so that they can beg a bit better to a world that is no longer fooled so easily.
14. Forcing me...
(07.23.09)
to pay taxes, and give them away to people like you, is a rape too. Go sing the Palestinian anthem, in your country, Jordan.
15. SO LEAVE!!!!
mAmA ,   iSRAEL   (07.23.09)
What's the problem???
16. There a groups of people here, both
jason white ,   afula,israel   (07.23.09)
Jewish and non Jewish that contribute nothing to the state or the defense of the state. Time to get rid of them and let them go to a place that wants them. We do not!
17. #6, Yes, I agree. You should be ashamed!
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.23.09)
18. If they don't like it...
Jacob Erickson ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.23.09)
I hear there are some nice apartments and schools in Nablus
19. forcing nakba in children is a form of child abuse
zionist forever   (07.23.09)
Until arabs living in Israel start to consider themseves Israelis they will never fit in. The grandchidren and great grandchildren of the people who suffered as a result of Israels independence need to stop looking at themselves as victims and enemies of an evil entity. Jews suffered much more at the hands of the Germans but Israelis are not brought up to hate Germans and although the holocaust has never been forgiven its not held against this generation of Germans. Adults have a duty to help children integrate into society and teaching them to feel bitter towards Israel today achieves nothing except breeding hatred. Time to stop being victims and be Israelis.
20. The anthem, like other state symbols, is just that, a state
Amihai ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.23.09)
symbol. And if one wishes to be a participant in civil society of Israel - a nation-state of the Jewish people, proclaimed as such based on UN resolution, and accepted as such into the UN as a member state in good standing - must accept the state's symbols along with state laws, institutions, servants of the state and other components of that which make for civil participation. Israel of course in not an exception. most countries worldwide are nation-states and in all countries there are minorities. What Israel's education ministry demands is very much in line with reality worldwide as it applies to minorities, and that includes all Arab states!!!
21. "Arab educators" taking money and services from this
m   (07.23.09)
government is like rape. How about putting it this way!
22. To #6, rebellious? You would like the image but you are not
m   (07.23.09)
You are just brain washed from your university post modernist deconstructionism. Please don't see yourself as another "rebel", you have to be intelligent to understand the politics of Israel, words are empty and misleading.
23. It's a free country: Leave
Michael ,   Jefferson, Ga. USA   (07.23.09)
Jordan is 75% "Palestinian" Arab. They don't say the Israeli national anthem. They pray to Allah and they speak Arabic. Stop complaining and leave. Israel will never be and Arab country.
24. You are free to find a country whose anthem you like
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.23.09)
I will even drive you to the border of your choice.
25. #19 what about the1million jews kicked out of arab countries
