33. My apologies for the harshness of some of my criticisms!

The issue defines the growing rift within extended Jewish community. I have heard members of the extended Mea Shearim community protest in anger, and in confusion at what is felt unjustified attacks from outside resulting from the case, and I admit I am among the strongest critics. I assume the reports accurate, have no reason to doubt that Hadassah Hospital is anything but honest and reputable. Indeed, why would the hospital be involved in what some in the haredi community describe as a series of experiments extending over a year and a half on this child? Still, that is the belief of the community, and perhaps a motivation for the street protests and riots by members of that community. Which would provide a less sinister motive for their actions.
My own writings are inspired more from the evidence that segments of the haredi community, that which I refer to as anti-Zionist, are themselves responsible for the energy driving the community*s critics, that these are determined first, the result of dependence by the mainstream parties in order to form a government, that the haredi community demands and receives what, by Israeli standards, amounts to extortion (child allowance favoring that community; military service exemption, etc.) and, second, the contempt apparent in such actions as Who is a Jew, the conversion scandal, efforts to eliminate the Grandparent Clause, and the treasonous activities of Neturei Karta in Iran [on Yom HaShoah, no less, and Gaza last wek]). the intention appears transparent, to undermine and bring to an end Jewish independence in israel. With the Diaspora barely sixty years from the latest effort by Christendom to solve its 2,000 year long Jewish Problem once and for all, this is no time to slam the door of the only possible refuge for our people available at the next such effort.
In short, I appologize if I have offended. I am a Zionist in the most basic sense of the word, see Israel as the last hope for our physical survival. Israel is home to all Jews, even those wh most vehemently oppose the state. But our internal arguements should never be aimed at our own self-destruct.
