1. LOOK, NO ROCKETS
steve ,   tel aviv   (07.30.09)
A strong Israeli is one who does not need the approval of foreigners. The rest of the world will only stand up for Israel and her actions as long as we stand up for ourselves, and even then it won't amount to much.
2. Israel had right to stop rockets but not to punish Gaza
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, USA   (07.30.09)
Israel had the right ot stop the rocket attacks but based only on the general facts it looks like Israel when to far and was punishing Gaza. 1400 death many women and children and massive amount of damage, add to that the harsh bordor restrictions then it looks very bad to the world.

Eva ,   Jeroesjalaim   (07.30.09)
I did not see any comment of you about the 12000 rockets in Israel in the last 8 years!
4. Hamas didn't even have time to read the report
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (07.30.09)
knee jerk reaction of bloodthirsty terrorists killing their own with no second thought
5. IDF were heroic against the Hamas Hydra.

6. "bad" to the world...
Ron ,   L.A., U.S.A.   (07.30.09)
Talking about looking "bad" to the world. Only in this world, can 6.7 billion people be 'offended' at 10 million jews for merely existing. Only in this world, can Israel have a 'sovereign' nation and still have to take orders from everyone else because the 360 million arabs on this planet apparently need/want more land. Only in this misguided and decieved world, can terrorists hide behind little kids and innocent women while taking pot shots at jews, all the while, the world holds the jews responsible for this. Yeah, looks can be very deceiving.
7. Jews owe the world nothing and ask nothing from that world
(07.30.09)
Except to leave us alone in our God given land. The bad old days of herding defenseless Jews into gas chambers are over, may God damand His payment in full from the world for that.
8. @7
gregg ,   haifa IL   (07.31.09)
god given land? You wish....but stop living in fantasies. Those stories are good for children
9. Gaza damage
alan ,   Texas   (07.31.09)
No apologies. Damage was all caused entirely by the arabs, either directly or indirectly since they continuously shot rockets into Israel, provoking a military response to an untenable situation.
10. Total waste of time
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.31.09)
This is an attempt to confuse the world with facts. And the world has already made up their mind. The world routinely ignores facts when it comes to Israel.
11. #2 Blodyscot, after 9/11, What has the U.S. done to Irak
Jorge ,   Tegucigalpa   (07.31.09)
and to the Taleban, if not punish them in a scale much but much bigger than what happened in Gaza. What is good for the goose, is good for the gander, ...........right?
12. criminal racist hamas must be held to account.
ralph   (07.31.09)
13. #8 Hmm, whom to believe, Koran, Torah, and Bible...or U?
William ,   Israel   (07.31.09)
That's close to 6 Billion people who collectively believe in the words of these three holy books, which outline and support the gift of this land to the children of Israel, and predict a return of Jews to the land. So 6 Billion versus....1 foreign tart in Haifa....not good odds, my friend. Not good odds.
14. #10 - Facts never were important to the Leftists
William ,   Israel   (07.31.09)
Ask Robert Fisk who denies that he even has time to check facts before reporting his opinions. Look at how many people make comments like "against Intl law" when referring to the West Bank when infact the situation there is not against any International law....just public opinion. When public opinion, which is easily swayed by distorted facts and half-truths, becomes to driver for laws and action, then we have a fantasy world even Hollywood cannot match.
15. Bravo Israel and frankly the timing of it is perfect
GZLives   (07.31.09)
Shoot rockets at us, we will shoot back. Don't like it, then stop shooting the rockets. Can you understand that simple logic?
16. Gregg #8 ... We were here BEFORE they were here
GZLives   (07.31.09)
and there's no denying that. And if that doesn't work for you and them then consider might makes right because we have that as well and we'll use it if need be... no fantasy buddy, just a bit of reality. Pass it on to your buddies

Israel could not do one without the other, because Hamas likes to fire weapons from crowded population centers, cache weapons in schools and hospitals and hide behind civilian populations. Israel's paramount obligation is the protection of its citizens and the security of its borders. And they did put a stop to the missiles and the suicide bombings. They have picked up the pace with aggressive interdiction of arms en route to Gaza from Iran (the convoy in the Sudan; the two Iranian ships bearing arms that were torpedoed and sunk). But let me put it this way: the United States dropped one atomic bomb on Hiroshima. The Japanese did not surrender. The United States dropped another atomic bomb on Nagasaki. Then, finally, the Japanese surrendered. Hundreds of thousands of dead civilians -- many women, elderly and children. But it put an end to a war that, had the United States simply invaded, would have cost possibly as much as one million American lives. Do you fault America for its actions in putting an end to the war? Why would you fault Israel for putting an end to the daily missile barrages and the suicide bombings and border infiltration? Same thing, different era. Please keep that in mind. And I assure you that the Israeli operation in Gaza was done as carefully as possible. They could have simply razed Gaza to the ground, much like what the Allies did with the carpet bombing of Germany. And, some years hence, what Nato did in Kosovo. And what the U.S. and British troops are doing today with indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas in Afghanistan, to weed out the terrorists who hide among them. Why is what Israel did to protect ITS civilians worse than what NATO did far away from its home countries and what the British and U.S. troops have done, and continue to do, in countries thousands of miles away? I remind you that Gaza is right next door to Israel. Can you say the same about the geographical proximity of the U.S. to Kosovo? Or to Afghanistan? Or to Iraq? You cannot, can you .... so can the pious rhetoric. It just makes you look really foolish.
18. Israel should evict all the non Jewish people.
Mike R ,   Post Falls USA   (07.31.09)
from the country of Israel. All they are is problems, and yes, God given land. Whether you believe it or not, it is a fact.
19. IDF admits some mistakes and use of white phosphorus
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, USA   (07.31.09)
While Israel had the right to stop the rockets and did stop them, the question is did they go to far and use excessive force. Some here seem to believe they didn't go far enough and that Gaza needed to be punished far more also many believe the IDF must be supported no matter what.
20. Global anti semites
DT ,   TA Israel   (07.31.09)
We should not have to defend ourselves with any report. It;s a pity that the job was only half done and look at the problems it has caused
21. #19 Israel could have killed....
Scott ,   Australia   (07.31.09)
...a lot more if it wanted to...the who area would be erased by now, if say the Russians, Chinese, Burmese, Iranians, Syrians etc,etc were involved. ...a lot less if Hamas had not deliberately ensured as many civilians as possible were in harm's way.
22. #Bloodyscot, Dallas - yes we are proud of the IDF
rebecca ,   modiin   (07.31.09)
Proud that they do the job far better than any other army, while still doing far more than necessary to protect civilians. Thankful too that they protect their own people. Unlike how mrs Obama feels about the USA, we are proud of Isreal and her army.
23. They fly the kites because they dream to fly away to their
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (07.31.09)
native land in F. Arbia. There plenty of land there, sand dunes to play in and oil money tomake more kites
