He also now has the US on his side and he knows it. Obama might not like Assad or Syrian policies but he will gladly turn a blind eye to anything in the name of the peace process. Assad could have been the mastermiind of 9/11 but Obama would still be saying that asside now we have to talk peace and the prce of peace is the Golan. Thanks to the actions of the Olmert regime taking Assad from an international periah and turning him into a diplomat and inviting Turkey to act as a meditor the Golan is as good as Assads. The only thng keeping it in Israels hands is because he isn't willing to try any political gimiks like Sadat did coming to the Knesset.
