3. A direct result of religious hatred
Avi ,   Tel aviv   (08.02.09)
Such an event was only a matter of time. Shas and other ultra religious partys have been inciting hatred and violence towards the gay comunity on a regular basis. It was only a matter of time before one fanatic took their words seriously. Eli Yishai and Ovadia Yosef need to be arrested now!
4. Waiting for the 1st hate comments...
Avi-former Sruggie ,   Israel   (08.01.09)
...I want to express my deepest condolences to the families of those poor ones who lost their lives and the whole israeli GLBT community. G-d loves you!
5. The folks in black eh !!!
Raptor   (08.01.09)
So now they decide arbitrarily who lives and who dies. Government, Parliament, when will you do something about this terrible social disease we have.
6. Where is the gay pride now?
Eli   (08.02.09)
A person in a coma could have been the prognosticator of this event! Flaunting immorality, simulated perverse parade sex and the in your face extremism of the GLBT had a large part in what happened. The shooter should be put to death for the crime but the crime of the GLBT is horrendous incitement. Live and let live but putting a bulls eye on your back is a major problem. Sex and sexual preferences should be an intimate, private matter. Having a perversion parade in what the world believes is the most religious city in the world seems inflammatory and basically a stupid idea. The fruit of "parade at any cost" ideology seems very apparent now.
7. Fanatics everywhere!!!
Ahmet ,   Germany   (08.02.09)
Its really horrible to read that such an icident happened in Tel-Aviv a great city which tries to become a hot-spot for gays all around the world. I hope that religious parties like Shas and others as well will be banned because they spread hate. God will punish them...

Wow, this is a pretty bad toursitic blow to LGBT Israel. Neighboring Lebanon doesnt even have that problem. Looks like its becoming Jewdy Arabia.

12. 2 killed in tel aviv shooting
debbie ,   israel   (08.02.09)
So so sorry to read about this. Poor young kids, poor parents and families. So tragic. I hope the murderer is caught before he hurts anyone else. I have complete faith in the Israeli Police that they will catch him within hours. May their families know no further sorrow. People should have the freedom of sexual orientation and live life as they wish. As long as people don't hurt anyone, they should live as they wish.
13. The World At Least RESPECTS ISRAEL For Its Treatment Of Gays
Arturo Neila ,   Rio de Janeiro, RJ   (08.02.09)
At least Israel treats it's gay people with respect. This is an awful tradgedy, one which takes place all over the world, unfortunately. My heart goes out to the families of those killed. Please know their deaths were not in vane; The world that is quick to judge Israel on other issues will know, at least, Israel treats it's gay people with respect and for the most part, lets them take an active part in society and an active part at building the wonderful DEMOCRACY known as ISRAEL! Not the gulag of arab/islamic nations where they are BEHEADED FOR BEING GAY! (especially in palestinian gaza)
14. #5, dressed in black does not mean hareidi
bmoskowitz ,   chashmonaim   (08.02.09)
if that is your meaning. If they were hareidi, yoou can be sure that they would haave said dressed like hareidi. Yoour hatred is as bad as those that did the shooting. Shame on you. Dressed in black means exactly that, black shirt and pants with as the story said a mask.
15. The shooter was probably a GLBT since they are very
Rivkah   (08.02.09)
dangerous when a same sex relationship breaks up. Dr. John Ankerberg found in his studies that resulted in a booklet on homosexuality that the average lifespan of male or female homosexuals is 42 years of age because they often kill each other when they break up.
16. My condolences to the families of this hate crime
Lioness ,   Israel   (08.02.09)
There is no room in Israel for this sort of crime. We are not Iran, Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia where gays are stoned to death. Religious Jews have just been fasting because the Temple was destroyed from baseless hatred. I really hope the police catch this crazy person before he can do this again
17. terrible just terrible

Don't be such an idiot; someone in black doesn't mean someone chareidi. You are so bogged down by your own prejudices that you don't even realise what you are spewing.
19. Re: folks in black eh !!!
Yossi ,   UK   (08.02.09)
Many of the people who rushed to the scene to help the injured and dying were black yarmulke wearing haredim. Some of the doctors and nurses treating the victims will also be haredim. Please try and not use this hate crime to justify your own hatred and prejudice. Have some respect.
20. to #3 and #5
Eyal ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.02.09)
first of all you don't know if this was a religiously motivated crime. and whether or not it was is irrelevant. such criminals do not represent the majority- they represent a minority of those not adhering to Hashems laws. it is forbidden to kill. period. dont jump to conclusions.
21. My condolences
Daniel Breslauer ,   Jerusalem   (08.02.09)
I offer my condolences for this horrible crime. Next, I feel that I must respond to these allegations here, assuming a Haredi Jew to have been the attacker. Yes, we are strongly opposed to this way of life. However, our protests, in all cases, are peaceful. At most, we will block roads, shout phrases, read Tehilim (Psalms) and try to block people from entering somewhere. This applies to all protests - including, for example, the Jerusalem shabbat parking lot issue. We are not violent. Judaism absolutely condemns all forms of violent punishment. Only a large court can institute physical punishments, and no such court has existed for almost 2000 years; and no such court will exist again until Moshiach (the Messiah) will come (so if you don't believe in that, you have nothing to fear). All rabbis, from all circles, forbid violence in any and all cases. This includes the most strongly anti-Zionist groups, namely, those groups united in the umbrella organization "Edah HaChareidis" ("Edah Haredit"), as well as the much smaller group known as "Neturei Karta".
22. let the chareidi bashing commence
Ash ,   London, UK   (08.02.09)
Can we please not use this tragedy as an excuse for chareidi-bashing. If you're open-minded enough to tolerate gay bars in the holy land, you should be liberal enough not to tar an entire community with one brush. Anyone sugegsting the any chareidi or their Rabbonim somehow advocated this, needs to examine their inner self-hating-Jew.
23. assuming religious involvment is
izzy d   (08.02.09)
behavior characteristic of prejudice, bias and ignorance. aren't they all the favorite scare words of the left, particularly the gay community? oh thats right; the religious are not covered by the humanity act.

26. Homophobia & Religious Extremism
Grant DanieMacDonald ,   Toronto   (08.02.09)
When one studies civilization and finds that the Irish people are 60,000 years old; 54,000 years older than the Jews/Palestinians; Egypt or Greece and that the myth of Catholicism or Christianity is a mere 2009 years old; one soon realises that there is little evidence to prove any of the cross related bogus elements of that cult. In the year 300 AD when Emperor Constantine, who to some was the first pope; went on to fabricate Christianity - a fantasy - which turned out to be one of the most hateful & evil concoctions ever perpetrated on the world. The Vatican supported Hitler and religion is responsible for more corruption and violence in the world. Pope Ratzinger was involved in the Nazi youth. The Pope & Vatican with its blatant witchcraft related to the bible and its hateful beliefs; tries to rule with extreme prejudices against a world … that may fall victim to religions' absolute evil. To think of Matthew Sheppard choking on his own blood after being savagely beaten; virtually sanctioned by the church ... is beyond comprehension … yet is the same as boys being bullied into suicide; most likely being supported by their parents’ religious beliefs.
27. # 4 Homophobic hate?

28. Blame game
Israeli grandmother   (08.02.09)
These tragic murders are another gift for the anti-religious/haredi talkbackers who jump on every opportunity to vent their prejudices in print. The only thing we know for certain is that an an obviously deranged individual attacked a group of like-minded people last night in TA. I am assuming it was a male.
29. Why always refer to hatred ??
Nickey ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.02.09)
Havent anyone for one second thought that this could be a the result of someone's heartbreak? This could even be the case of someone who had a partner and the partner left him or her for a same sex relationship with another man or woman. (The typical "coming out of the closet" phenomenon) Why always first make it about HATE? WHY always pint point to the religious people? Yeah everyone has the right to the their own opinions and believe me, the religious people arent the only one's who do not approve of gay/lesbian relationships. This could very well be a crime of passion !!!
30. I won't be surprise that the person who did it
ghostq   (08.02.09)
is gay himself, he probably hated himself so badly and the fact he couldn't deal with the fact that he is gay that he had to shoot the gay comunity. either that of the fact he was malested by a another man and wanted to go for revenge, either way killing innocents is wrong regardless of their life style especially teens, unfortunatly they got a glimps of the real crule world. may thos 2 teens Rip.
