1. Fully agree
Oren ,   Or Yehuda   (08.02.09)
Same way as the Haredi attacks on Jerusalem are terror attacks
2. to # 1
Vladimir ,   Jerusalem   (08.02.09)
And the attacks of the secular hooligans against charedim are terror attacks as well.
3. So the PM asked the police to catch the murderer
Bruno ,   Haifa   (08.02.09)
And the implication is therefore that if he hadn't, the police wouldn't be trying to catch him? So - another empty statement from Netanyahu - giving the impression that he's actually saying or doing something, but there's nothing there. Populism as usual.
4. It would serve all the blowhards right if...
Debbie ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.02.09)
...it turned out to be a jilted lover's revenge. HA!
5. No Mr. Netanyahu! Israel is NOT a tolerantant country!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (08.02.09)
Never mind homophobia, the Ultra-Orthodox, both Sephardic and Ashkenazi are totally intolerant of anything that does not conform to their religious and fanatical norms. Homophobia, racism, particularly against the Ethiopian Community and other forms of hatred are the order of the day in Israel. Ministers even interfere with the judicial process because the accused is a “Yeshiva Bocha” and the victim was a young Ethiopian Woman! The crocodile tears of Minister Eli Yishai and MK Nissem Ze'ev, who have openly insulted and condemned the Gay Community and recommend sending gays to "rehabilitation camps" to be cured, make a mockery of your statement and your Government, which has sold its soul to these bigots who have the same attitude toward Homosexuals as the Nazis had against Jews, Homosexuals and Gypsies. The only difference is that do not advocate mass homophobic murder but they do incite others to insult, maim and perhaps even kill gays. Homophobia is certainly not limited to Israel and is probably as rampant world wide as anti-Semitism but Jews, the most persecuted people in the history of this planet should know better. No one has to agree with the lifestyle of another but no one has the right to tell another how to live and no one has the right to kill. The bottom line is that two more Jewish and Israeli lives have be lost to the forces of hatred, be they religious, neo-Nazi or homophobic. Today is a sad to for Israel. We condemn the intolerance in the Muslim world but we should ask ourselves, our Prime Minister and his Government if we are really any different?
6. Enough !
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (08.02.09)
Apparently it is acceptable to hate the Hareidim but not hate a gay? If one reads the talkbacks that is an obvious conclusion. When a horrific attack takes places talkbackers twist and turn their comments to their personal source of hatred. They disallow that an Orthodox MK could honestly condemn the action. The condemnation of a lifestyle is NOT equivelent with killing an adherent. Start looking in the mirror people. Are you any better than those you profess to be better than. Hatred is hatred. Let's practice some tolerance here towards anyone who is different than we are!
7. This requires special statements?
Eliyahu ,   Yrushalayim   (08.02.09)
8. #5 David you are so right
Avi ,   Israel   (08.02.09)
as a jew in Euorpe i am attacked for being jewish in Israel i am attacked for being gay. Nazis / Shas its all the same. They attacked us with words which has now become bullets as a member of the gay community i saw this coming.
9. just wanted to say: what taking the police so long.
ghostq   (08.02.09)
move it, damn, these TBs r nagging, you all sound like jewish women. sheesh Israel is a small place you don't have to be brain sergion to go or chase somebody.
10. To #6
Noah ,   New York, NY   (08.02.09)
Your analogy is stupid. No Jew in modern Israel has ever gone out and murdered Haredim because of their lifestyle. You cannot equate prejudice towards Haredim with the murder of gays. Especially when Haredim have called for violence towards gays. Nice try. Go back to shul.
11. More arrant nonsense
USSISHKIN ,   TEL AVIV   (08.02.09)
Of course we are not tolerant - of Palestinian Israeli citizens, of gays, of Reform Jews, of migrant workers. Where does this so-called Prime Minister think he is? Oh wait. I get it. We're a tolerant society because we put up with him as Prime Minister? That's not tolerance. Its sheer frustration with the entire political class. Its apathy not tolerance.
12. the terrorist
eli ,   us   (08.02.09)
is laughing his head off at the ruckus he caused!
13. Enlightened and civilized?
Martin ,   Sderot Israel   (08.02.09)
An "enlightened and civilized" country wouldn't use the awesome power of the State to dispossess Jews of their land and property. An "enlightened and civilized" country wouldn't allow blatant racism against Jews by preventing us from having free and unfettered access to ALL our historical Holy places, especially to Har HaBayit. An "enlightened and civilized" country wouldn't facilitate the activities of those whose religion was born with the slaughter of Jews and to this day demands the elimination of Jews from the planet, starting with Eretz HaKodesh. What is being called "enlightenment" and "civilization" is exactly the opposite of what those terms are supposed to mean. There is no enlightenment and civilization in Israel, only petty power mongering and brazen defiance of the Basic Laws regarding treason. Although I will not join them, I regretfully conclude that perhaps the NK Hareidim are correct in their fierce opposition to the State of Israel.
14. To the cry babies 5 & 8
Ariel ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.02.09)
As a conservative jew I condemn this violence againgst gays. I think its discusting. In my opinion the killer should be hung. But 5 and 8, you are both wingers and cry babies. To 8, Israel is protecting your Jewish rights, not your gay rights. You want to make out with men do it in a private place. Lots of people dont want to see that! To number 5 why don't you try living in Iran or Saudi Arabia. Israel isnt a perfect country, but in terms of liberalism it is far better then most nations.
15. Ariel tel aviv you should be ashamed
Avi ,   Israel   (08.02.09)
Ive just come back from the hospital to visit my friends son who has two bullets in him so yes i am a cry baby today if thats ok with you . thanks for the advise and your pathetic attempts to stereo type gay people but i have a partner of 10 years now . Two fine young people were gunned down in cold blood think of their famalies before you spew your venom.
16. @5David for prime Minister !!!! ;)
(08.02.09)
Well said!!!
17. to #15 such a shame you don't invest this
ghostq   (08.02.09)
amount of effort for gay soldiers, or soldiers in general, you care only for your comunity and not the general comunity, mmm what about the child with morter shell in his brain(the child still has it) I don't see you care much to the other people in Israel, the gay comunity is not a close comunity unless you want to be, by that you isolate yourself from the general one, this type of atitude is unaccepable in my eyes. so stop isolate yourself.
18. #8
(08.02.09)
And if you were a haredi or a mitnahel you would be condemned and humiliated even worse by the self-styled inteligentsia. As a member of the Gay community, the police are afraid to touch you, but if you were a haredi or mitnahel, you would be in for a beating.
19. your son -my sodom
Tolerant?   (08.02.09)
Hey Bibi, I am strongly against homosexualiity,. and you know what ? you can break my arms and break my legs but you will never convince me that sodomy is the only way to GO. but I am even more against those who take a life because another ther human being has not conformed to the acceptable public norm of human sexual relations. You may be glad to be gay but you will also have to be glad to pay the price**********
20. #15 Avi
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (08.02.09)
You are a very prolific writer in YNet but one thing you have never managed to do is defend the rights of others. You believe Gays can demonstrate wherever they want, but refuse to support the right of Jews to do the same in Arab towns or on the Temple Mount. You are shocked when someone (a terrorist? A Gay? A skinhead?) shoots Gays, but never condemn an Arab who murders a Jew. You may believe that Gays have more rights than others, but don't be surprised when your prejudice and racism comes backs to haunt you.
21. Tolerance
Simon ,   Malcha   (08.02.09)
Never mind being a country that tolerates people from all backgrounds, what about a country that respects its people enough to grant all rights such as 'a male to male' or female to female' marriage not simply a man to a woman. That would be toleration and respect, Our Prime Minister should prove his love of our country by granting full equal rights to all citizens, whether straight or gay, Jew or Arab, orthodox or reform. we are all one people, if we are Israeli or Jewish -- and that includes Israeli Christian and Arabs. Let us unite and let us create a Palestinian nation that will look to us as a beacon not an enemy! As for our army, i am disgusted that they behave so disgracefully as seen on television. May some dignity be restored.
22. Tolerant?! The country maybe, but G-d is not
Josh   (08.02.09)
I think we need to acknowlege G-d a bit more as we don't get to stay here if we are "chose death" "terror attack'" - talk about politicizing an issue. We don't know if it is based on gay hate. Whether it was a jeoulous lover. A drug dealer using misdirection for a revenge plot. A randon psychotic act. A terrorist. A Jewish dati extremist. A Muslim extremist. An insane drug adict. A neigbor sick of the noise. A father whos son was converted to be gay. WE JUST DONT KNOW. They may never catch the culprit but I know who I won't be voting for.
23. T.A. is to Israel, what Bangkok is to the rest of the world.
A cess pool of sex ,   ual deviances.   (08.02.09)
24. #21 What about our Army has disgusted you? Shouldn't you be
TOLERANT of them?? ,   RB Midgal, Israel   (08.02.09)
25. vladimir , where and when ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.02.09)
26. vladimir [ ? ] where , when and why
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.02.09)
27. #22 tolerant?
Lisa   (08.02.09)
Josh, you know what? I believe God is more tolerant than you are-. reading the Tb's on this murder , the Gay parades etc... I have my doubts about tolerance in Israel. Many people- maybe; all?- definitely not.
