1. Still Jewish?
Tuvia ,   Jerusalem   (08.04.09)
I wonder if the descendants of the founders and members of this synagogue are still Jewish. I doubt it. The story of American Jewry.

Arrogance such as yours is what turns the world against us (and American Jews against certain Israeli elements). There is an old saying - if you have nothing good to say, say nothing.

I heard that they had a tunnel under the pulpit that the Underground Railroad used to help slaves escape to Canada.

Let's remember who was in the USA since before the revolution and who helped the establishment of the United States of America! Mr. Obama - remember that before you feed us to our enemies!

It is a bad friend who would not attempt to steer one away from madness. Israel's long term security requires reaching a lasting peace with its neighbours. The long-term security of its neighbours also requires this.

the other side does not want peace with you guys. they will never settle for peace. they want you dead. that must be the madness you speak of. you can't make a mad dog your friend. President Obama doesn’t seem to understand this but he is slowly learning the ways of the world.

That's nonsense. The other side will not always be the same as they are now, and they are in fact several different sides with different interests. Someday we will have peace. Someday we must have peace. It's a matter of doing our part when we find the right opportunities and finding appropriate ways to create those opportunities with others. Giving away the farm based on a slim bet would be foolish. Holing up behind the IDF forever would be just as foolish. Progress has been made with Egypt. More should be done with them, along with other neighbours, whenever the winds are right. I sometimes think the people who say "peace will never come" are hoping to keep tensions up until some horrible (glorious?) war makes the question moot.
