2. "World shocked"?? Really, not so much. This lifestyle is att
acked all the time. ,   People don't like it   (08.02.09)
3. Another chance to bash Israel
BB ,   Karmeil   (08.02.09)
This is a heartbreaking tragedy. However, world media will exploit any negative event in Israel. Jewish "extremists" resort to this kind of horrific violence far less often then their middle eastern neighbors. Anyone ever wonder why there are no gays in Iran? The answer doesn't get headlines in Sweden or England, but it is considerably more evil then this sad incident. Gays are not being killed due to accepted policy in Israel. It continues to be safer to be gay here then anywhere else in the middle east, and most places in the word.
4. Absolutely tragic
Avi   (08.02.09)
and even more so when someone is attacked only because of the way that person chooses to express his/her love for another human being.
5. #3 - Yes, that is true, BB, BUT....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (08.02.09)
There are those lunatics, like Eli Yishai and Baruch Marzel, who incite against us all the time. The resulting violence is predictable when such hatred comes from the mouths of politicians, religious figures and other public figures. And make no mistake, they can hide behind the Torah if you want to, but it is hatred. Safer here? I would have said so before the blast of automatic rifle fire in which a 26 year old man and a 16 year old girl were gunned down.
6. TRAGIC sensless loss of life but
shadoil ,   Jerusalem   (08.02.09)
the Gay community should be careful not to exploit these peoples murders for their own agenda. Many people are killed for many different stupid reasons and hate certainly is EVIL but so is milking the situation for all its worth for political gain.
7. The world should be more shocked at the fact...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.02.09)
... that every other person that walks by you in the street is packing a gun or an M-16 and that these tragedies don't happen very often and that our nation is probably more shocked about this tragedy then your's. Anybody that lives here or visited Israel knows that Israelis are very responsible with their weapons. The world has believed that Israel has had "the bomb" for more than a few decades now. I ask how many times we've used it? Answer. Zero How many excuses have we had to use it? Answer. Probably countless. Don't forget that the expression, "going postal" comes from the USA not Israel. So be more shocked about something worth while like gloabl warming or Africa and stop putting us under a microscope.
8. Solidarity
GLYDSA ,   USA   (08.02.09)
The Gay and Lesbian Yeshiva Day School Alumni Association, based in NYC, sends its support and condolences to the LGBT community in Israel. Chazak v'Ematz.
9. To #1
James ,   Herzeliya   (08.02.09)
You are pathetic to suggest that the settlers had anything to do with this tragedy. Furthermore, I think it was either the British or the Swedes.
10. Anything bad for Israel is good for the World media
(08.02.09)
11. To: 3. Another chance to bash Israel
Mayim Goldfarb ,   London   (08.02.09)
This was a terrible event, I am very saddened. I am the mother of a gay son, he is in Israel at the moment at University. I am very proud of him. I will be joining in a support march around Soho in central London today in respect of the lives lost. Why are you picking on England at this opportunity? it's well known Irans views on homosexuality when issues within their borders happen, the media here make no secret of it. I think Israel is viewed as a modern country with western views and ideals, when these things happen in Iran, sadly we are not surprised. So its not news.
12. This would never have happened in Iran...
(08.02.09)
13. The killer is either mentally ill & or is a repressed gay
JMK ,   NYC   (08.02.09)
Mental illness is a human condition that crosses all boundaries. Repression of incessant and hated homosexual feeling is projected upon the group that rocks his boat, that which he naturally is and desires the most becomes the enemy. Maybe when he is angry and violent against the percieved enemy the killer no longer feels sexual which would be something he is after, the cessation of bad sexual feelings. Scary!
14. And someone said the Pride Parade is redundant? (#6 agenda?)
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.02.09)
The gay-lesbian community's agenda is very clear: not to be persecuted or discriminated against. #6, such an incident can be "milked" for all its worth. They gays aren't trying to take over Israel, but trying to secure their basic civil rights. Personally I am disgusted by homosexuality. I just don't find it appealing. Then again I don't like beans either, yet I would never support a ban on them. I understand the distaste people have for gays "flaunting" their sexuality, but despite appearances the Pride Parade is not a celebration, it is a protest, one which I fully support, in every city in Israel, and not just once a year. Furthermore, in a free society you can flaunt whatever you wish. People, especially conservatives, need to be a little less sensitive and a little more tolerant. Lastly, the only abominations here are: the person who will murder people simply for having a different lifestyle; and the ideology that supports him.
15. Homophobia and religious extremism
Grant D. MacDonald ,   Toronto   (08.02.09)
Interesting global occurrence … Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien told the Vatican that there was to be no cross erected over the Canadian Parliament buildings … figuratively speaking; when the Pope demanded the Prime Minister go against gay rights. An Alberta bishop had the audacity to say that The Canadian Prime Minister would go to hell for going against the church. Such outrageous evil threats. The Right Honourable Prime Minister … in return; basically told the Pope to go to Hell. The Honourable Irwin Cotler, Canadian Minister of Justice, stood for equal rights for the gay community. With reference to protecting the children. The Honourable Hedy Fry, member of the Canadian Liberal Parliament, who happens to be a doctor spoke eloquently to defend the rights of babies being born and stated that she was in fact defending their rights by speaking on behalf of equal rights for the children and youth of the future; defending their integrity and dignity. A great story … pertains to a boy at a catholic school in Oshawa, Ontario … who wanted to take his boyfriend to his school prom. The nasty catholic school forbid this. The boy’s father is an employee with General Motors Canada and the courageous union leader … Buzz Hargrove stood up for the boys’ rights. The boy took his case through the courts and because the school was benefiting from government funding which demands equal rights void of discrimination; the judge ordered the school to allow the boys to attend together. Their limo arrived at their prom with adoring onlookers … there wasn’t a dry eye to be found. Many theologians state quite correctly that the birth; crucifixion; resurrection and other elements of christianity actually didn’t even happen! The pope is running a bigger fraud than Madoff’s $50 billion ripoff. Such a fraud. Today’s evangelical extremists are like the nazis who cast others into ovens & are actually supremacists - who practice their bogus hocus pocus - and are trying to suppress and deprive others of their happiness and their legal rights in an open and proud society. I am the son of a catholic father who never went to church and a protestant mother who took us to church and Sunday school. Although we as young children would sneak out the side door and play by the cannon from World War One where my grand-father fought for freedom as a Sgt Mgr at Vimy and father who fought at Normandy on D-Day for freedom. Onward christian soldiers ... I think not. Such drivel. To be manipulated by a santa claus; an easter bunny and worst of all a bogus cross. One should appreciate each day of life and not expect another ... and if there is it will be given by a God of Love. My Jewish Professor friend spoke of the extremist radicals in Israel. Einstein stated in a letter recently auctioned that the bible was a collection of primitive legends. He said believing in God was childish and he as a Jew is no different than another person … not chosen by God. Do you want to be lambs at the slaughter or be wise and reject religious cultist manipulation? Mean & nasty; run by evil and bogus religious cults from Rome or wherever. Is this the world you want? The pope talks about ending prejudice and hate; what a hypocrite! My condolenses go out to the family and loved ones. They did not die in vain. I have great respect for their dignity.
16. They MUST be attacked, BUT not physically!
Robert Blum ,   New Albany, USA   (08.02.09)
Homosexuality has, toward the goal of social mainstream acceptability colored itself in a long-time campaign by labeling itself 'gay', a wored that means happy and using a rainbow and other innocuous ploys, while dressing itself up as apseudo-political movement demanding 'rights'. They have an illness, usually beginning their sordid lives of having some 500 same-sex victims in its span, due to having been traumatized in adolescence by as preyed upon victims of homo-sexual perverts. It is NOT a biological but rather psychological set of reactions. That said, the cure for this social plague which demands minimizing family values, traditional marriage, etc is not murder. Every society must inhibit the liberals from allowing homosexuals from becoming accepted as normal, as if a deprived political group ro as if a disenfranchised people claiming rights to same sex marriage and perversion of children through allowing them to be raised by queer behaving men and women, The heterosexual norm must be maintained and homosexuality must be driven to the periphery of society , until it is understood by even the homosexuals as a mental illness, a self-serving virus that infects for the sake of its own survival, heterosexual society, and cured, before it corrupts our youth and destroys us from within.
17. Its time to look inward
Michael Ben Raphael ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (08.02.09)
We hate safardi or eshkanasi, we hate black or white, we hate left or right, we hate homosexual or homosapian, we hate rich or poor. JEWISH PEOPLE WAKE UP! An event worst than the Holocaust will beset us unless we change. We dont have much time left. Start loving your neighbor, start changing, start looking inward, give up politics, it is all bull****. Start LOVING your people, NOW!!!
18. #12 in Iran homosexuality is illegal and punishable by death
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.02.09)
In Israel homosexuality is legal and such acts against them are widely condemned.
19. #14
shadoil ,   Jerusalem   (08.02.09)
I understand where your criticism of my post comes from and thats ok but to say that conservatives need more tolerence, thats just plain bias. I know many liberals who cannot hear any conservative argument for anything. Their lack of tolerence is "nothing to ashamed of" either. If they would practice what they preach at the level of what they preach they would find a middle road to many issues which bother them with conservatives.
20. #16 is this part of a dishonest mediocre book your wrote?
Vincent ,   Brooklyn, NY, Usa   (08.02.09)
And you left copying and pasting parts of it accross the internet because you can't bear your arguments being ridiculed and dimissed by everyone you have tried to convert to your views so far? Self-righteous conspiracy theory fantasies are not reality.
21. Normal?
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (08.02.09)
What's normal? To kill and maim? Sexuality is an inborn trait, not one which can be changed by desire or religious demands. Yes, all 3 monotheistic religions call homosexuality a sickness. However, religions have an axe to grind and individuals are lower on that scale. Yet there are those who demand that all people are vanilla and must follow the principles of heterosexuality. They have yet to understand that one mold does not fit all. Homosexuality is not an illness. It's not a virus. It does not infect others. Just live your own life and let them live theirs. # 16, they aren't sick. Unfortunately you are the one that's sick.
22. The rush to conclusion
I. Barr ,   Detroit   (08.02.09)
The smoke of the gun fire is still in the air and this killings are already defined as "hate crimes". Other possibilities such as a crime of passion not uncommon in gay communities, revenge against club owners and alike were never considered. Moreover, calls from all over the world already conclude that Israel is a discriminatory, racist homophobic country. While Iran, Saudi and Turkish governments punish G&L and even hang them it is attempted to put Israel in the same cathegory, another reason to bash Israel. The gay community has to understand that no parent wants son or daughter to be homosexual. Some G&L themselves sometimes wish that they were heterosexual. Major religions Islam, Judaism and Christianity see homosexuality as a sin. G&L activily in California and immitating Israel seem to try to convince that homosexuality is the preferref way of life. The G&L community will achieve more by keeping a low profile while protecting their rights through quiet diplomacy. Since this G&L community in California preferred to force their opinion they lost the option of "marriage" that they could have achieved through quiet diplomacy. Israel G&L should learn the lesson. Moreover, embracing the violence in Tel-Aviv as a "hate crime" without evidence may back fire. This event is not a political asset but a terrible tragedy. Nothing more.
23. The world wasn't outraged when Jewish children were murdered
AK   (08.03.09)
The world is outraged when two homosexuals are murdered. To the 'world' Jewish victims don't matter unless they are gay. The 'world' and its selective outrage can go to hell.
24. You forgot the fluorine in the water, Robert Blum,
Nemesis   (08.03.09)
they're also putting fluorine in the water to sap our precious bodily fluids!
25. Gays teens attacked
El gato ,   Anywhere, USA   (08.03.09)
The world is not shocked by the attacks! It is shocked that in God's holy land the queers are out of the closet and acting as if they are normal. God told us that it's an abomination and they have no place in the Kingdom, so I pity the fools. The ones who were killed are now in Hell suffering and wishing they had been pure. Normal people need to fight back against queers and prevent them from bringing God's wrath on all of us!
26. #19 - shadoil
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.03.09)
hi I don't think I am being biased. I wasn't defending the behaviour of liberals in general. In fact my statement was applicable to everyone, otherwise I would simply have said conservatives should be more tolerant. Liberals are on the whole more tolerant, you can't deny that. They have their own problems. They can be insensitive or detached from reality, but that simply is not relevant here. It's pretty clear that whoever committed this crime is a conservative, and it is also clear that not all conservatives condemn this attack outright.
27. #23 - the world will abuse this for anti-Israeli rhetoric
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.03.09)
is what you should have said. Your wording is a bit ambiguous, but you're absolutely right. I expect I will hear all about Israeli intolerance on the forums.
28. No evidence that "religious Jews" did this
J.M. ,   USA   (08.03.09)
According to what has been reported, the shooter had to have been familiar with the layout of the club, and planned the attack very carefully in order to make a successful escape. He also had to be familiar with the security in order to smuggle a weapon inside. Everyone who is shouting "lynch the Orthodox!" fails to consider these simple facts.
29. #6 Shadoil 2 young people were murdered
Avi ,   Israel   (08.03.09)
I think it would be a good idea if you could remember that 2 fine young people were murdered in cold blood, please show some respect and dignity to the dead this is not about politics or political gain i can tell you as a member of the gay community this is the last thing on our minds. What i can tell you is that we have been the target of a malicious hate campaing from the Shas party, can you imagine if in the US they said such terrible things and spread false accusations about jews? im sure you would be screaming anti semitism from the roof tops yet here in Israel its social acceptable to call Gay people every vile name under the sun, They attacked us with words and now bullets. Hate my friend kills, lets never forget that ok. Two young jews are lying in their graves because of hatered.
30. I am shocked that the world shocked.
