Al   (08.02.09)
Yeah, its beat up religious Jews excuse # 100,000. Seems a day without pouring out their vile towards religious Jews is a day without sunshine. Go ahead and cry...poor little darlings. In short order your vile self loathing and your loathing for anything Jewish will rise with a rigze.
3. # 2--shut up
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (08.02.09)
I am a right wing Orthodox individual who feels the left wing is lacking in many areas. My credentials having been stated # 2 you are so so so far out of line. There is nothing in the article you are responding to that speaks of religious Jews. When the secular blame everything on the religious and enter them into a story where they don't belong they are wrong. AND you are just as wrong right now. An article on a funeral and you spew. Dai! Shut up!
4. The other side of the coin.
I. Isel ,   USA   (08.02.09)
Nobody suggests that G&L should stay in their closet. Yet G&L have to consider that Muslims, Jews and Christians have traditionally rejected homosexuality and view it as a sin. Moreover, no parent wants his child to be Gay or Lesbian. Many G&L themselves would have preferred to be "straight". G&L have to show more sensitivity and do whatever but keep a low profile. They will achieve more by being such. Lastly, this crime in Tel-Aviv may not be a hate crime as many rushed to declare. It may be a "love", passion, crime when a desperate gay person takes extreme action. Similar crimes of passsion are not uncommon in US. Those who see this terrible tragedy as an opportunity to bash Israel should be ashamed. Hundreds of gay people were hanged in Iran by the Iranian government. Same happens in Saudi. 5. Remember that there are discriminatory laws in Israel
Marcella   (08.02.09)
I'm against discrimination and hatred, and I'm truly sorry about this tragedy. But it's not enough for the government to issue impressive statements against discrimination and hatred when it has laws that discriminate against one particular religion in Israel: Judaism. Most media have not reported that two JEWS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED FOR KNEELING AND PRAYING AT TEMPLE MOUNT. Prime Minister Netanyahu said today: "We are a democratic country, we are a country of tolerance, a country of laws, and we must respect every person, whoever and wherever he is." And yet Yosef Ben-Avraham of Shilo and Yekutiel ben-Yaakov of Kfar Tapuach were arrested for kneeling on Temple Mount, while Christians and Muslims were free to move about (Israel National News). Does the world know that there is a law against JEWS ONLY praying and kneeling at Temple Mount? - Please do not censor this posting. There cannot be tolerance and justice for some but not for others in Israel.
6. #2 Article says nothing about religious Jews
Cynthia ,   USA   (08.02.09)
This is an opportunity to show respect for a young man who reached out to help others and made a contribution to his community.
7. I am so sorry .......

8. #3 your vemon belies your so called credentials
Al   (08.02.09)
Sell it to the Marines... You got yourelf listed for what you obviously are..a left wing nut job with an ax to grind. When Jewish kids were beaten up for opposing the expulsion of Jews in the Land of Israel where the hell were you? I'll tell you where, encouraging those to leave their homes and to lose their livlihoods with huggs and kisses. BS to you and your credentials. As fas as the homosexuals are concerned, we have an expression...get a friggin room.

nuri ,   tlv   (08.02.09)
where in the article does it say abything about the religious being responsible... SEEMS SOMEONE FELT A BIT TOUCHED.. without even being touched. come on, Mr AI, pay respect for a life, saying their "new Mr Rabin' in such a sarcastic only speaks of your poverty of spirit and mind. So disgusting that comment, nobody said this poor guy who died was a saint, quite the opposite, he was a son, a brother, a friend, a partner, a neighbor, an Israeli and whether you like it or not, another Jew who worked FOR the others. Tell me what do you do for the others??? are you an example of moral? of anything......??? pitiful, pls don't say you are an Israeli if you travel, I would be very embarrased of people thinking that we are ALL like you.
10. the center was helping troubled youth
Golan ,   Jerusalem   (08.03.09)
I am not an enemy and I am not a fried of the so called proud society (aka gays) but listening to Galatz I came to realize just how much this center helps those people who struggle with their sexual preference (something not in their control.) It let youths live with themselves, it gave them a sense of community at a time when they are struggling with their humanity in a way. There was nothing negative about the center. These people should not have been murdered. oh yes, and #2 is correct. The left has found a new Rabin to worship.
11. Gay teens murder
KW ,   Mexico, Mexico City   (08.03.09)
Terribly sad to read about these two young teens in Tel Aviv murdered by hatred. As a visitor to Israel I was surprised at the multiculturality and tolerance that I witnessed when travelling through this land. As a citizen to one of the most homophobic countries in the world I am sound aware of the risks of discrimination and misundertanding related to sexual orientaiton. I believe it is now the time for Israel and its society, and even the world, to pay homage to these two young victims first by arresting the murderer, but above all to keep on developing the society that has made you the great nation you are. Diversity in nature is a matter of strength
12. #AL 2 : you offend me as a human being
leah ,   Ramat Hasharon   (08.03.09)
Two young people were murdered in cold blood and you exploit this situation to divide people even more. To fan the flames of hatred, i dont know how you live with yourself so consumed with hatred. These two fine young people died because of hatred, shame on you.
13. to # 8
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (08.03.09)
Think what you want--what I wrote about myself is true. Go back and read talkbacks over the years--you will look like a fool. Sometimes even a right wing Orthodox person can feel sorrow at a murder---unfortunately you can't. AND as to where I was when kids were being beaten up during 2005 for opposing the expulsion--proudly wearing Orange both here and in NY and donating HUGE sums of money to organizations helping to prevent its' occurance.Oh yes, I also bailed some of those kids out of jail--but I guess you'll consider me a liar in the case too. BTW--how many commemerations of the anniversary did you attend last week--or were you at the demo in Jerusalem last Wed? night--I was!
14. may their memory be a blessing
avramele   (08.03.09)
and an inspiration for all who would live there lives with dignity and openness. We have a long way to go as a people but must never give up hope. may those who mourn be comforted and the rest of us give pause.
15. Are the authorities any closer to catching the killer?
AK   (08.03.09)
Is there any new information regarding the investigation?
16. maybe, this is not a time for hatred
eddie ,   london   (08.03.09)
Jews should not fight each other, but unite againts all forms of hatred and violence
17. #16 Eddie well done for showing courage
Avi ,   Israel   (08.03.09)
thankyou
18. to #2 in a way you right but not about the lefty part
ghostq   (08.03.09)
it's got nothing to do with right wing left wing, this mourning phenomena is known, they will cry all but learn nothing from it all together much like Rabin Murder, he never had legacy or something to aducate the mases and this is another fine example, of that, I am afraid this stupid mourning will end and people will forget after ward. bunch of toads.
19. Al , 2 . If there is something sane people loath
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.03.09)
it are your ideas ." Loathing anything Jewish " ? as you wrote . No poor guy , only those who try to impose their lifestyle on others . And this only some fanatic religious do
20. Someone mentioned dignity
(08.03.09)
These two young people (may their souls rest in peace) seem to have had this quality aplenty. More gays should take it on themselves to behave with dignity (sadly, so many don't, with their flamboyant off putting vulgarity ). That would be a fitting memorial to these two refined good people. Gays owe it to themselves if they wish to be respected. Huggy kissy in the street?Dignified and cultured people do not(need to). Don't be so babyish, and maybe you'll earn some respect. These two fine people did earn our respect, so you can all try to be the same, in their memory. You owe society in exactly the same measure that society owes you.
21. Too painful to read this
Talula ,   Israel   (08.03.09)
I simply cannot imagine the immeasurable pain these families are going through. To lose two wonderful, gentle and caring children because they were gay is simply beyond comprehension. This must never ever happen again – NOT EVER. We mustn’t protect gays, they should not be protected, because that, in itself, is showing they are different – they are not. The pigs and bigots that see otherwise are the problem, they need to understand that gay folk have a place in OUR society and should be free to walk with their heads held high holding the hand of their partner, without fear of being beaten or shot dead. It’s called tolerance.
22. Tolerance is passive and can border
lo chashoov   (08.03.09)
on indifference. Often an easy, non- committal and slightly lazy way out. Respect however has to actively be earned. That is what all communities should strive for, and not expect it 'cos I'm different'. You're not so different, ok? Work a little harder at earning respect. Don't deliberately use the 'Im different' clause and then claim that people label and disrespect you. You know full well what I mean. THEN, you may receive the respect we ALL need to earn. Gays are no different in that, sorry but that's the truth. 'I'M/WE'RE different so YOU HAVE to be tolerant' is a cop out used by people with no backbone.
