I am not understanding this situation, and the article needs to provide more information. Does the property belong to Jewish people? Have those who were evicted been renting for years? When I lived in New Orleans and was looking to buy a house in the old areas of town, I found that often the homes were occupied by people who had been renting the residence for more than fifty years, and in one case, for 62 years. The renters knew that they did not own the houses but they were pretty sad and worried about having to move if and when the house sold. Still, the house did not belong to them, and they accepted that fact. Is that the case here? In this situation in Jerusalem, I seriously doubt that they are being thrown out if they own the property! Be good if the reporter of this article would clarify this.

The housing complex in question is located in the Sheik Jarra neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem. The home was originally Jewish, but its Jewish occupants were chased out during countrywide anti-Jewish Arab riots in 1929. Why does ynet refer to the Jewish residents as settlers? Are all Jerusalemites settlers? Sheikh Jarrah is not a settlement. Therefore the Jewish residents can not be settlers? Why not refer to the Arabs as settlers as well?
