3. why are we paying Bakarat & the police when they do nothing
zionist forever   (08.04.09)
DEMOCRACY IS NOT JUST A RIGHT TO VOTE ITS A SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNESS AND OPPOSITION TO INJUSTICE Who is to decide whats just or not. There arte 8000 jews who used to live in a little place named Gush Katiff & their homes were destroyed by the government and they felt that was unjust. Would these people come and help rebuild Gush Katiff and what would they say if a bunch of of volunteers got together and startyed rebuilding those homes? I imagine they would be out demonstrating stiop the rebuilding of Gush Katiff. The point of democracy is because if you don't have a central ellected government that makes the laws you have chaos and its for that government to decide what policy should be. If its demolishing arab homes in Jerusalem this lot have to say thats the law biut I dont like iike it. If its demolishing Gush Katiff then they have to say thats the law but I dont like it. Hamas were elected democraticly but their policy & Fatah policy were not the same and look at the situation we are in now. The law decided to demolish those homes in Jerusalem and I hope that Bakarat have the guts to make sure they stay down and do something now like call in the police to stop this rebuilding. If they are not willing to do somthing about this illegal act then why the hell are we spending billions every year paying Bakarat and the police if we will just let people like this do what they want in the name of social justice? Lets just put this lot in charge of the country and allow them to enforce their own laws. I also don't understand why a councilman from Meretz is involved they are just a bunch of anarchists anyway using the cover of a political party. Earn your money Bakrat & police & enforce the law or don't ask for a paycheck.
4. Why don't they rebuild houses in Sderot?
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (08.04.09)
Or build houses for the Jews who were expelled from Gush Katif? Why do these foreign Jew-haters only care about Arab squatters?
5. Think of it as a stimulus package
Danny   (08.04.09)
It keeps the bulldozer drivers working. Thank you Jeff for doing your bit for the Israeli economy!!
6. Margalit
Yitzchak ,   Elazar   (08.04.09)
Please explain what the difference between Meir Margalit and a "settler" who builds an outpost? They are both doing illegal construction. Either it is 1 law for all, or it is state sponsored anarchy.

reprehensible HYPOCRACY makes me want to vomit
8. If the houses demolished are illegal, how to build again?
William ,   Israel   (08.04.09)
I think the world is seeing the wrong message here. These activists who show up to re-build the houses insist Israel demolishes the homes as periodic punishment. Are these the homes of terrorists who deserve it? Are these the illegal homes built without permits which circumvents the current law that ALL citizens are subjected to? The Left LOVES to quote the law....so why do they rush to break it? If this group demands equality why do they insist "some groups are more equal than others"? Block them with a court order, and throw the activists out of the country.

g ,   jerusalem, israel   (08.04.09)
but still absolutely disgusting that absolutely no mention of the fact that these homes violated israeli law and exactly why they were destroyed is mentioned in this article.

Why were allowed into Israel??? These troublemakers must be treated like dirt. Do everything legal eg. The authorities must ask to see thier visas daily, they must reprort to the nearest police station.they must follow a curfew impoosed to crime planners, and a hundred other reasons. They would not be able to do these so called protests in Spain. They would be throwen into jail and the keys lost. Deport thm on some legal preteckest.
14. I must have missed the part
Arie ,   BaGolan   (08.04.09)
Where any of the anti-Staters ever showed up in Sderot to help repair the homes damaged by the over 7500 rockets fired from palidom at our civilians. But then, we know that Jews really don't matter in th scheme of things, right?

bernt   (08.04.09)
Do you guys have any sense of ethics or compassion at all? Wouldnt be surprised if israel doesnt teach any of that.. These are actual families houses people live there, and you go on calling the ones rebuilding them troublemakers and dirt....what the hell is wrong with you And still, israeli law does not apply to occupied territory, no point trying to debate that fact... go demolish your illegal settlements instead..
16. re: rebuild in Jerusalem
Mark ,   Hackensack USA   (08.05.09)
Only left wing nuts could call Jerusalem "occupied"....remind them who King David was. Thankfully the vast majority of Israelis agree on one thing, undividing Jerusalem. The Jews will have sovreignty over the whole city.
17. #15, why don't you see what happens
Danny   (08.05.09)
when you build without a permit in your country? It is just as illegal under Jordanian and British law.
18. Israel demolishes homes in Jerusalem in an effort to
Jack ,   Us   (08.05.09)
Force Palestinian residents of Jerusalem to give up their residence. It is as simple as that. There has never been any talk of providing the Palestinians with citizenship in Jerusalem. When you draw the final borders and keep Jerusalem you will have a bunch of Palestinians remaining whom you will have to make citizens resulting in thee Palestinian states: Palestine (the territories), Jordan and Israel. You either have to give up the unified Jerusalem, expel the Palestinians from Jerusalem, or become a very liberal Palestinian state.
19. David's era is long since over, #16 Mark
Francis   (08.05.09)
OK, assuming David ruled J'lem 3,000 years ago. So what? And he conquered what was then a village from the Jebusites anyhow. Or are you saying the place is "God-given"??
20. #18, hate to break the news to you
Danny   (08.05.09)
The Palestinians in East Jerusalem - along with the Druze on the Golan heights - were made full Israeli citizens when Israel annexed both places. But hey who cares about facts right?
21. 20,but the full Israeli citizens' make couldn't be completed
observer   (08.07.09)
Golan's Druze had already burnt their Israeli IDs. Those in east Jerusalem preferred to keep the second-class IDs to avoid kicking out.
22. Insane activists make nice with Israel's enemies
marlene ,   Philadelphia, USA   (10.27.09)
Israel's "Israeli" activists are insane. Bleeding heart, bleeding brain. There are just too many misguided Jews bringing Israel down. To many cowardly activists. Too many stupid anti-Israel Israelis. I hope these are the people G-d has in mind in Revelation, in the New Testament of His Book.

illegal settlements...or even just evicting a home from a palestinian owner comes as easy as 1-2-3 these days. just let them go steal a ready made home, all furnished and boom, they've got a home. As for theexpelled from the illegal settlement, they should have known it was coming sinmce it was illegal in the fiorst palce. and plus they can take the advice given in the previous short paragraph. truthfully (and im lying here) i have no idea.
