I was initially shocked to discover that Israelis are more spoiled than either Americans or Europeans. Try giving green toilet paper to someone that wanted pink, or 3% cottage to someone that asked for 5% or vice versa. I did, and both items were rejected. The average salary in TA is nis 8,000+ and I live on far less. I don't know anybody without at least one cell phone, a TV, a washing machine, and a fridge etc. And 40% of Israelis have broadband! As a teacher, I know for a fact that dozens of children come to my school hungry -- no breakfast, no sandwich to eat at 0930, and faculty members have observed a few stealing from the supermarkets.
