No Scott, it is not an isolated incident. Ethiopians are very much racially humiliated in Israel...they just do not report it. I'm no Israeli hater and wish the good people speak out about this.

I was in the supermarket in Jerusalem and some crazy lady got into a fight with a teller of Ethiopian descent, and she told her to "go back where she came from, to Ethiopia!" I turned to the teller and told her just disregard this whack-job, she is clearly out of her mind, while another two customers began rebuking the racist lady. Is there a cure for stupid?! cause the driver and crazy lady could sure use it.

What kind of story is this? One person was insulted by another. It happens every day everywhere. if it was an official policy of Egged then I understand, but otherwice I don't think it is a valid story. Imagine every person who is insulted goes straight to newspaper.

As a parent of a biracial child and wife of a Sephardi, I can attest to the ridiculous amount of racism present in Israel amongst our OWN people. This bus driver should be shot. Kushie is indeed, a derogatory term, it's translation similar to the "N" word used in America. I have been to the principal of my son's school regarding children using this term, as well as to the police. The other day a child wouldn't let my son play at the playground, telling him to go back to Africa. Make no mistake, racism is alive and well in Israel and I do hope that this woman sues. They enjoyed Shabbat together. Where's the headlines for that? When my wife and I lived at the Merkaz ha-Qlitah here in Ra'anana back in the early 80s, there were a number of Ethiopians. We all got along well. Everyone of them I knew were honorable, courteous nice people. We helped a family in Holon who were having a tough time. They, too, were honorable, courteous nice people. In one stupid act, one bus driver (probably secular or atheist, rejecting the b'rit Torah that defines Jews and who, a priori, must depend, instead, on a racist definition) makes all Jews look like raving racists. Fire the a------! Then put him in jail for hate speech. I hope some of the other passengers took the driver's name and will follow up pressing charges against him. There's no excuse for such racism. When I saw the Falash last time, well, I had mixed feeling. Only a small number in bad shape otherwise most was striving to survive. I noted still racism is there. When I tried to see a Champions Legue game in a "Irish" bar, the waitress is reluctant to take order. I just sat and waited to run her hope. I once get lost and went to unknown neighborhood and some young boys tried to chase me but a bus came and I escaped. I noted that it takes some time to cleanse all the racism from the mostly uneducated people but it needs struggle. If the racism is not systematic, it will eliminate eventually. Hope my brothers there be competitive.
