les ,   canada   (08.13.09)
G-d bless the young man, dead or alive, and do hope he'll be freed soon! but to have israel's future endangered by releasing hundreds of vicious, rabid murderers..... NO WAY!!! so many brave kids gave their lives for israel, shalit is no better or worst than they were. DO NOT GIVE IN.... IT WILL ONLY ENCOURAGE MORE KIDNAPINGS. SO SORRY FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY......
3. Naive to believe this
Ari   (08.13.09)
this is hamas propaganda. They have been doing this for years.... "a deal is close we just need a little more time". Can't you see this is Hamas' way of playing mind games? It's psychological warfare. Every time there is a perception that something is close to an agreement hamas yanks it back and blames israel for the failure. How many times does somebody need to fall for the same trick before they realize they are being duped, like 1000 times? Come on!

6. Palestinian papers
DT ,   TA Israel   (08.13.09)
If it is the Palestinian papers reporting it is another pathetic lie playing on the of the Shalit family
7. Gilad
zznhl   (08.13.09)
A Media desperate for a scoop fueled by cynical politicians desperately trying to refocus public gulability away from daily corruption by elected representitives and the slide back to the army of Lebonon 2 and low grade generals (who will loose us the next war as well) and the widening religious devide. They make a big deal out of the Flu virus, Gilad Shalit, and the Iran/Hizballa alliance to show that they can act and the media helps them perpetuate these myths and infuses the public with hope and pride instead of encouraging them to ask questions or demand the results that their elected representitivespromised to get to that position.
8. Terrorists murderers should be sentenced to death.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (08.13.09)
Terrorists murderers should be sentenced to death. The State Attorney’s Office seems not to have been bothered by the fact that terrorists with blood on their hands continue to constitute a grave danger to the civil population. Quite simply, the rarified intellectual and moral universe that Menahem Mazuz and his fellow prosecutors inhabit is not the intellectual and moral universe that most Israelis live in. The prosecutors live in a world in which morality is an abstract issue, best adjudicated by professors, judges and themselves in the name of enlightened humanism. More at : http://xrl.us/kj6sj

Cynthia ,   USA   (08.13.09)
Send the Red Cross to meet with Gilad and report back regarding his condition. Prove Gilad is alive and well. The Palestinians were required to do this at the onset of his kidnapping.
10. release Gilad
Lauren ,   Israel   (08.13.09)
Gilad's captivity is unbearable to his family and to the country. Bring him home.
11. Dream on
Jerrold Cohen ,   Seal Beach, USA   (08.13.09)
The last Palestinian article I read on the subject says there is no progress. That was today.
12. Four years seems like a long time until you consider
Rivkah   (08.13.09)
how many it took 8 years to be repatriated or over 20 years for Ron Arad if he is still alive. Gilad Shalit's parents are soooo different from mine who has passed away. If Hamas had abducted me, Hamas would have to trade hundreds of prisoners and pay a big settlement to get my parents to take me back. They certainly would not be out globe-trotting for my release.
13. Probably more false hope, more treachery from ham-ass.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.13.09)
Trading terrorists for Shalit is inviting ham-ass to kidnap more soldiers. Better would have been to seal the border to all goods, tell the world it is collective punishment that will not stop until his release and Israel doesn't care what the world thinks. Shallit would have been back in less than a month for no killers let loose and the world would understand Israel has policies they carry out. But, Kadima was in office.
14. What Deal Best For All Israelis?
Christy ,   Boston, US   (08.13.09)
My heart and prayers go out to Shalit's family and friends. I'm sure they are hurting and desperately want Shalit back. If I were one of them, I'd probably want the same. However, governments must do what is best for ALL their citizens. Is any kind of deal that releases multiple accused murderers best for all Israelis? How about the people killed by those who would be exchanged for Shalit? How do their families feel? What do they want? The wisdom of Solomon is needed.

Such a devious mind !! I do believe that we will see Gilad back home soon if - big "if" - we release those notorious palestinians.

Ray ,   Ramat Gan   (08.14.09)
For God's sake, could you please mind your own business, who are you to tell the Israeli people what to do? Enjoy Canada and just shut up. We want here in Israel a Gilad free and in good health.

Ray ,   Ramat Gan   (08.14.09)
