1. Why?
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (08.15.09)
1) In order to gain the sympathies of their brotherhood in the USA whose charitable contributions have decreased considerably since the downturn in the economy; 2) In order to blackmail the city of Jerusalem to allow building in Mea Shearim to increase to six or seven stories from its present three or four -- then the protests will cease.

NYC Girl   (08.15.09)
It appears the only way to deal with these riots is to ratchet up the consequences for the people committing the mayhem...because, obviously, they aren't getting the message.
3. Shabbes desecraters?
Liv   (08.15.09)
Nazis- ? the new prayer? who needs TV or a movie?- watch the holy people protest
4. So, let's be clear here....
Yossi ,   Levittown, US   (08.15.09)
It's a "sin" to have a parking lot open on Shabbat, but it's not a "sin" to have a violent demonstration on Shabbat??? Ah. I see.
5. # 3 Holy people????
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (08.15.09)
The rioters are holy people? Since when is it holy to riot on Shabbas? They are no more holy than you or I.
6. #4 So let’s be honest here...
Shalom   (08.15.09)
As usual, the violence begins AFTER the malachei chabalah, known as the Yassam police, start beating up the Jews. But of course you can’t expect Efrat Weiss to mention that, could you? There's no reason to desecrate Shabbat and keep the parking lot open on Shabbat for the dozen or so cars (or even if there would have been more). They lived without it all these years. It’s only to provoke the chareidim.
7. self hating jews
dani ,   Israel   (08.15.09)
interesting that the top news storys about israeli arabs murdering a jewish reedent of Israel is dressed up as a few hooligans and no comments are posted yet on any story but a few fringe protestors as wrong as they are gets the attention of people whats that about ? scary awnser so lets rather Charadi bash its much more fun then admitting Israel is under siege from the inside as well from our arab friends
8. This is starting to get as boring as those damn gays. Both

9.  FOR THE SAKE OF HEAVEN???
al mann ,   JERUSALEM, iSRAEL   (08.16.09)
In recent times a new justification for certain behaviors has been found under the category of "Permissible for the sake of heaven". Many injustices and inexcusable activities have been performed to protect a certain identity under the guise of this justification, What is for the sake of heaven? Do we know what it is and how that best be observed/ Unfortunately, the intentional disunification of the children of Israel in its own land is a cause for much suffering. People are judged by externals and no time is set aside to learn a person's inner feelings and purposes. The split serves only those who say that we are a religion of which no mention is recorded in any of our sources. How many times do we read that we are a people, a nation. We are one. However there are groups who feel insecure and must show their strength by revolt even on the Sabbath. Can one desert the Sabbath for the sake of heaven?
10. These hasidim must stop desecrating shabbos.

may i remind you that Jerusalem is the democratic capital of Israel. The parking lot in question is no where near the charideem area , yet these lawless parasites seem to think they can deny others their freedom and democracy. Provoke the Charideem? What nonsense. So what should secualr people do who wish to visit their capital ? Come by skate board prehaps dressed in a sack? Would that please the "God Squad" who preach "i am hollier than thou" while living off our tax money.
12. to #6 buttee out who r you to tell any one what
ghostq   (08.16.09)
to do on their free time, it's far away from charedim neighbourhood and none of their damn bussiness, just because you live in middle ages terms god created viehcles to ride them on Shabat. nothing wrong with that. it's not in the bible book it's invention of really bored humans.
13. to #10 (giggly)the violance on shabos is enough
ghostq   (08.16.09)
desecration. ti hy. that alone will make god angy. and he will punish the haredim for rioting on his holy day.
14. #5 holier than thou.... Ben
Lisa   (08.16.09)
a logical conclusion? If the religious people KNOW what God wants- then I should assume rightly that they are better than me- because I don't have a direct line to God- which means I can expect them to DO what they BELIEVE- right? Judging from the past number of Shabbat riots- this however is NOT true- they don't DO what they preach-. Logic has no place in religion!
