dont say a word.
2. Seems like a successful test to me
Danny   (08.16.09)
Managed to hit and kill civilians only. Must be using the guidance system that Hizbollah and Hamas use.
3. #1 and we all know....

Problem with the nevigation sistem at the top of the government.
7. Syria is so stupid!
David ,   Hartford USA   (08.16.09)
Iran has manipulated the guidance systems so that all Syrian missiles will fall on Syrian soil. This way, Iran will come to Syria's 'defense' when it says Israel attacked it. Poor Assad, he's such an idiot. If he had any balls, (and he doesn't), he'd simply tell the world that he's decided to make peace with Israel and 'give' the the Golan as a token of friendship. But he never will because the other real powers in the region are squeezing his balls to the size of pine nuts. That must be why he always has such a pained look on his face.
8. oh please. now we are quouting a Japanese agency !!

I think they should conduct similar test every day for the next 2 years.
11. NONSENSE STORY! ISRAEL WOULD HAVE BEEN BLAMED!
stude ham   (08.16.09)
and the whole world would have condemned israel for firing missiles into open market places. that never took place... therefore, the story itself is pure fiction.
12. If they ever get this working, it could be bad for Israel
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, USA   (08.16.09)
If this navigation system ever works then Syrian missiles could hit within afew feet of target anywhere in Israel. They are using short range missiles for testing but this would easily work with long range missles. They are also working on ways to evade radar with new tech from US and Russia. I don't like the fact that Iran and N. Korea are working so closely, Iran could already have nukes from N.Korea and who would know.
13. glorious karma, they hurt themselves
ghostq   (08.16.09)
way worse. who care about the human right groups they r long ago serve only muslim propeganda.

15. Syria North Korea and Iran.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (08.16.09)
Iran & North Korea have assisted Syrian nuclear, biological and chemical military efforts. It has funded Syria military procurement from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, China and North Korea and has supplied Damascus with Iran-made missiles, tanks, armored personnel carriers and sophisticated intelligence and surveillance systems. Iran & North Korea have collaborated in the development of ballistic capabilities. They established, in Syria, plants, which manufacture medium-range missiles and missile launchers. They have sent thousands of military and technological advisors to enhance Syrian military performance. More about Iran, Syria and the Hezbollah at : http://xrl.us/oxbo6
16.  I"M SURPRISED THIS ISN"T IRAN # 2

SYRIA HAS BECOME A DYNASTIC DICTATORSHIP. (1) THE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN INFORMED THATTHIS WAS A GAS EXPLOSION (2) THE WATER SITUATION HAS NOT BEEN EFFECTIVELLY DEALT WITH.(3) THEIR ECONOMY IS IN A MESS (4)THEY HAVEN"T GOT BACK THE GOLAN HEIGHTS (5)IF THE ARMY RELIES ON SUCH WEAPONRY...POOR SOLDIERS.!..WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE "A SAD " REGIME,AND ...WHAT ARE THE PEOPLE WAITING FOR ?
17. The new missiles tested in North Korea this summer
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (08.16.09)
...have a range of 600 miles. They could hit any Israeli city with the right programming package. If a massive attack were performed at a specific time... with overwhelming amounts of rockets launched...Israel could suffer huge losses. North Korean ships as well as shipments from neighboring countries like Iran....should be destroyed. Plants producing such weapons should be destroyed. Or you could build thousands of missiles to shoot back. It's funny that everyone will turn a blind eye when thousands of missiles are shot into Israel. Maybe Israel needs to apply the same tactics to avoid the worlds critisim. Missiles seem to be accepted by everyone. Why fly a fighter plane to bomb the terrorists and hear the world's cries for fair play in war.....when you can mount a massive rocket assault of your own which is seen as fair play?
18. #12, doesn't matter
Danny   (08.16.09)
given they only fire missiles at cities they don't need to be at all accurate. It's only if you are trying to hit military targets you need to be precise.
19. go shopping in North Korea next time
zionizt forever   (08.16.09)
Nobody ever had much luck with the old Soviet Scuds. Assad needs to go shopping at the North Korean supermarket there they build decent missiles. The guidence on the Scud is cheap Soviet rubbish and the missile itself isn't very good. The Iranian Shihab 3 is based on the North Korean No Dong. They are the new missile dealers of choice to those countries that don't develop their own.
20. 10
zionist forever   (08.16.09)
I thought better they hold tests like these every hour for the next 10 years rather than every day 2 years. Syrian missile developers are almost as smart as Syrian fighter pilots who take off and they first sight of a plane on their radar they eject.
21. re:18 it matters, Dimona reactor, fuel tanks, ship docks
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, USA   (08.16.09)
They are only use scuds for test , why waste good missles. To hit Dimona reactor(and waste) they need this new guidance system for their long range missiles. Also fuel tanks, docks, airport and key business could be hit with only afew missiles. Scuds filled with powdered aluminum to fill air above radar systems could block them for serveral mins letting other missiles to get though. Syria would have to upgrade air defence system first or this would be short lived.
22. Syria: "what are those parts left over?"
William ,   Israel   (08.16.09)
NK: "They're just spares for the missile, extra screws, a detonator, these cool stickers that make it go faster....just like products from IKEA" Syria: "Very nice. We're very happy to have you on our side North Korea" NK: "Can I have a sandwich now? I'm starving. We have no food back home"
23. #7 - The food chain of Allah's greed
William ,   Israel   (08.16.09)
So as Iran manipulates Syria in order to "come to their aid" when attacked by Israel, so too is Syria manipulating Lebanon so they will be asked to return to Beirut when civil war re-ignites (thanks to Syria assassinations and Hizbullah). It's just another rung in the food chain in Allah's greedy little world.
24. #8 - Avi - Anything other than NYT is blasphemy??
William ,   Israel   (08.16.09)
Retard. The world doesn't revolve around NY though you wouldn't know it from the talking heads there. Western news agencies are a decrepit mess since they turned from honest news reporting, in the days of Cronkite, to spin-doctoring and NYT is the worst. The fact they ignored the Syrian test is proof of this while Japan, who has a vested interest in exposing North Korea's terrorist activities around the world, has reported it. The Western world picks and chooses what news to read, who to vilify, and what to ignore. That's why atrocities in Darfur, Tibet, Burma, Zimbabwe, and the Gulf go unnoticed, but the world slams Israel when they want to block a hate-fest march. Then, when the media stops covering the story, you can turn it into an off-broadway play and call it a "creative experiment".
25. #11- They couldn't rpove the connection to Israel
William ,   Israel   (08.16.09)
That's why most news agencies just ignored coverage of the story.
26. #21 - I think the point #18 made is the target civilians
William ,   Israel   (08.16.09)
While you and I would target infrastructure and places of commerce, like the IDF did in Lebanon and Gaza, the Arabs target civilian centers for maximum casualties. Saddam targeting Tel Aviv, Hizbullah targeting Haifa and Arab population centers, Hamas targeting Ashkelon and Sderot. What Danny (#18) is saying is that it doesn't matter about the other more sensitive targets which could cripple Israel....the Arabs always go after soft targets like civilians. Shamefully.
27. It's becoming crystal clear on Arab leaders
William ,   Israel   (08.16.09)
The Arab world isn't a land mass with a population, culture, and history.... it's a land mass of several despotic leaders who's competition for power has caused them to focus on weapons and violence while the millions of citizens are little more than mindless lemmings that can be killed for the sake of advancing the cause. - Palestinians kept in refugee camps and treated poorly - Iranians using kids to clear land minds for adult soldiers during the Iraq-Iran war - Iraq gassing thousands of Kurds because of racism and to test new weapons - Syria testing weapons that kills their own citizens - Hamas firing weapons which some times fall on Gaza killing civilians - Hizbullah using weapons on Lebanese to test them for a future war with Israel, and placing them among civilians. What's surprising is the silence of such Human Rights groups in the world. There's enough evidence here to keep the Hague tied up with Arab abuses for the next 200 years!
28. #21, yeah but they won't target those places
Danny   (08.17.09)
You seem to think these people want to fight an actual war as opposed to a propaganda one. I don't think that anyone seriously believes that Hamas, Hizbollah or Syria could actually, really defeat Israel. Rather the point is to say we sent lots of missiles and Israel didn't annihilate us.
