1. Safe travel to Morocco
Joseph Attias ,   Casablanca , Maroc   (08.19.09)
As a moroccan jew living in Morocco,I can assure you that there is no danger for any israeli visiting Morocco , to the contrary Israelis are warmly welcomed everywhere with a smile and hospitality. Moroccan people are a great people full of tradition and history and surely not segragating between Ashkenaze and Sepharad people. Morocco is a beautiful country with beautiful and nice people.
2. Security Alert
Andrew M ,   Leeds, UK   (08.19.09)
I think some of those interviewed miss the point here. No-one is suggesting that Israelis are not generally well treated in Morocco. This is a specific alert about a specific threat - probably from intelligence reports on Al Queda or HIzbullah plans and intentions to target Israelis overseas. This should be seen as a useful short-term alert to both Israelis and Moroccan security services; not a cause for any long-term change in generally warm relations with Morocco.
3. Scaremongering tactics...
Cynic #2   (08.19.09)
Just when Moroccan Jews show love and affinity to their original homeland, someone high up does not like good relations between these Jews and there kinsmen in Morocco, maybe they are scared that these Jews decide that life is better in Morocco, who knows???
4. #3, Yeah, whatever, you know everything.
Jake   (08.19.09)
The number of Jews still living in Morocco has never been less than it is today, and Jews aren't in a hurry to go back to there. Maybe the reason is, they already are in their original homeland, with their kinsmen. Facts are facts, whether you choose to accept them or not. And as for scaremongering, just look at the article link above: "North African state nabs cell that plotted assassination of prominent officials, including members of Jewish community". See. It's not Israel pointing out the threat, it's the Moroccan government itself.
5. so?
nadav ,   tlv   (08.20.09)
we owe Morocco nothing. they want us to lift a travel advisory, then establish full diplimatic ties with Israel. they have no problem taking Jewish money from Israeli tourists, but refuse to recognize or trade with Israel as a whole- so typical the Arab governments... They should also give back ALL the PROPERTY the Royal Moroccan government stole from the Jews it expelled from the country!
6. #5 Not only that.
Jake   (08.20.09)
In 1973, Moroccan troops fought in the Yom Kippur War on the Syrian front, which was particularly deadly to Israel. It just goes to show, if the Arabs believe that Israel is in a compromised position and believe they have a realistic chance of destroying it or decisively defeating it, they will all come in for the kill.
7. #5 Not stolen property, but not exportable either
Farid H. ,   Morocco / Germany   (08.20.09)
Nadav, as far as I can see, if you or your parents owned property in Morocco, you could still go there and claim it. But, good luck trying to convert the moroccan dirhams to something useful. I have the very same problem as non-Jewish Moroccan abroad: the excessively restrictive policy of the Office des Changes is nearly equivalent to expropriation: if you can't take your property with you, what good is it? Welcome to the club of the victims of the Office des Changes: we're all in it, and we've always been in it.
8. To Farid

9. Morocco
Israeli ,   TA   (08.21.09)
I went to Morocco, NOT with an organized tour, I planned my trip by myself. It was wonderful, the people were very nice and I, a single blond woman ;), was treated with a lot of respect, that I never got from Israelies...I went to Morocco, coz I don't like to travel to places where Israelies are....they have NO manners, are noisy and have no respect of others...sad, but true...
10. Disability Games in Tokyo
Morton Strauss ,   Winston-Salem NC ...   (05.31.16)
Great disappointment that Moroccan tennis team refused to compete with Israel at these games...What effect will this action have on Jewish travellers to Morocco this summer?...Should we be concerned and consider cancellation?
