31. to 14, sigh again with this crap?
The Dude   (08.23.09)
What country are these Journalists staying in? Israel. The fact is that this is not Egypt which Israel has a (cold) peace treaty with. You can enter Gaza through Egypt (if they allow you). The other fact that you so enjoy ignoring is that Israel considers Gaza a hostile entity and has declared siege to it (along with the fact that just half a year ago there was a war there). No state is required to aid entrance into a hostile entity. Entering Gaza through Israel is a service which Israel grants, and employs people to supervise. When you enter Gaza you have your passport stamped that you are leaving Israel. If Israel wanted to, it could pour concrete into the crossing stations and say find your own way in. Even if there wasn't this quite hilarious refusal, we could simply not staff any border police. So please, quit it with this argument of occupation. For a people who seem 'desperate' to get rid of the occupation they enjoy demanding that Israel fill in for many of the institutional gaps that they refuse to build for themselves.
32. What can you expect
DB ,   New York   (08.23.09)
Sweden prohibits shekhita and they have given Jews 5 years to end circumcision. The fact that they now provide "humanitarian" rationales rather than anti-Jewish ones doesn't change the fact that there has never been a time of true religious freedom for Jews.
33. @6 The punisher
moi ,   TA   (08.23.09)
That was a Danish newspaper who published a cartoon about Mohammad....
34. I could not agree more with talkback 12. Gene.

35. This articles says one thing
Palestinian ,   Jerusalem   (08.23.09)
Gaza under Israeli occupation, so never say that Gaza is free, and Israel withdraw only it took its settlers a way under the pressure of resistance
36. Slander(ers) Defended Free Speech... Unless Jews Are Victims

37. Let Jews Slander "Missionaries" But Not Chrstian Free Speech

38. Trouble with slander is...
(08.23.09)
It leads others to slander back. So it turns around and bites you in the ass. LOL
39. Libel is not "freedom of speech"
JPS ,   Efrat   (08.23.09)
Get it through your thick little heads, folks, that freedom of the press and freedom of expression does not include libel. This newspaper article about rumors about stolen body organs is clearly libel, since it contained no factual evidence at all. Free speech does not allow for making false accusations of criminal activity. Unless they can offer proof of the accusations, the Aftonbladet newspaper is indeed in violation of libel laws that are not governed by freedom of speech. In such a case, the government of Sweden should indeed speak out, and the Swedish newspaper association should itself issue a condemnation statement. Otherwise, the perception is that Sweden is a home for hate mongering and incitement against Israel, no matter how libelous or ludicrous the claim.
40. Stop Free Speech of Gentiles/Xns, but not Jewish slanderers

41. Stick to Truth/Facts Yourself Before Expecting it of others

42. Swedish blood libel
Alan B ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.23.09)
We Jews need to take a lesson from the Muslims. Remember how the whole world was in an uproar over that Danish cartoon? None of the PC crowd worried about freedom o speech then; the were cowed into apologetics by violence. Maybe we have to stop being such "nice guys" having intellectual discussion of this. Riot outside their embassies! That will get the apology and retraction we deserve.
43. 39-not right until applied = to Israeli media&posters

ynet, Aruts Sheva, haarretz, etc. Set the example, clean your own house before preaching to others

45. The Mohammed cartoons were published in DENMARK, NOT SWEDEN
Gene ,   Tel Aviv   (08.23.09)
And that's the most recommended talkback?! Seriously guys.. stop embarrassing yourselves (and the rest of us) with your ignorance.

paqweed hod hasharon ,   near somalia   (08.23.09)
47. "retaliation" versus "remedy"
tom ,   toronto, canada   (08.23.09)
hassling the reporters of aftonbladet is one way of retaliating, although it might have been better to grant them access into gaza, and then refuse them entry back into israel... but it really doesn't solve the actual problem, namely that a swedish newspaper has given its support to a crude arab blood libel against israel. the remedy provided in the laws of western, civilized countries is to sue them for libel. nowhere in the west is it legal to publish such defamatory lies. (the reporter himself admitted in an interview that he didn't know if the story was true.) a successful lawsuit would not only give israel the opportunity to publicly quash the initial story, but it would also be a far more effective way to counter the argument that publishing such articles "sell papers".
48. #30 ORAO, look at you!
Wildmandxb ,   M.E.   (08.23.09)
You and all the aggresive talkbackers here are sad, very, very sad! i pitty your state of ill-mind. You people are sick...ORAO how about you go live in israel since you sound so patriotic using the CAPS in your talkback along with your religious captions! Gene at #12 is the best example of how israelis should approach such issues, and not the hypocritical way everone else is adopting! At the era of the famous danish cartoons, the talkbacks were bashing the muslims in all directions! now it's the other way around and you guys expect the world to apologize! Then you punish the journalists by not granting them entries to Gaza, how stupid can that be, you've just proved them right and made fools out of yourselves infront of the whole world! Amazing, the zionist mentality is truely mind-bending, in a negative way!
49. oh come on
pric ,   sweden   (08.23.09)
chill people. why is the israeli government so afraid of such a debate in another country? if you're not happy about the discussion; speak up and tell the truth about those statements (that actually rather was just questions for a debate?). or stay out of it. demanding an apology is just childish. this is a proof that this is actually a quite sensitive subject for the israelis. well, i actually wonder why that is.
50. To 45 Look up Lars Vilks
The Dude   (08.23.09)
Secondly the Swedish reaction to Lars was weak and apologetic, the opposite of what they are doing now in this case with a very serious Libel situation. So please stop embarrassing yourself (and the rest of us) with your ignorance
51. To 45 Look up Lars Vilks, you fail

52. YNET please check your sources! What are you talking about??
Gábor Fränkl ,   Budapest, Hungary   (08.23.09)
Karl Bildt has NEVER condemned the report EVEN in his personal blog! Where actually did you get this information??? Other Talkbackers, Simulaev: Is this true what Ynet is saying here on Bildt? Please help!
53. To Simulev, please help!
Gábor Fränkl ,   Budapest, Hungary   (08.23.09)
Please look at my previous comment and tell me please (since I don't speak Swedish) if Ynet'sinformation on Bildt's alleged condemnation in his blog is real! Please contact me if you can and I I can ask you on my e-mail, please! Regards,
54. Sorry #43, but where are your facts?
Paul ,   Efrat   (08.23.09)
I'm happy to apply the same standards to the Israeli press, but you listed names and not specific examples of libel. I agree with you that the Israeli press is also not allowed to wantonly commit libel. Show us what you are talking about. At the same time, the Swedish newspaper should be sued in court for libel and be made to pay compensation for the damage they have caused by spreading false rumors.
55. 54-You never have to look further than the current posters
(08.23.09)
to find numerous examples of slander by anonymous posters. Until Israel media puts a stop to it, why should anyone else's media? Look no further than a number of posters on this page.
56. way to go Bibi...

nice to see Israel's backbone may be returning.
57. 19 the only people who you have to forgive...

58. 49. Prick...I mean Pric....well, shut the flip up

we're sick of you...and sick of trying to make nice while you say vile things about us... so kiss our Jewish asses.
59. Swedish sauna - by David Frankfurter
Seth Marlin ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.24.09)
http://dfrankfurter.livejournal.com/119607.html I am sure that you have been following the war of words between Sweden and Israel. A Swedish newspaper repeated rumor and innuendo that Israeli soldiers were harvesting organs from Palestinians. Sweden (which currently heads the EU) has refused to condemn this blood libel, confusing freedom of speech with hate speech. The Swedish Foreign Ministry even distanced itself from criticism of the article by its own Embassy staff in Israel. Friend Gerald Steinberg argues that this is consistent with Sweden being a major sponsor of anti-Semitic NGOs which consistently defame Israel with lies, innuendo, propaganda and spin. Gerald expresses the hope that this furore will somehow teach the Swedes a lesson, and that they will stop this destructive funding. Unfortunately, I am less optimistic. This blood libel is, in fact, consistent with Swedish government policy for over a decade. In March of 2004, I highlighted reports from Swedish newspapers that showed that Sweden had, from 1997 to 2004, deliberately and consistently classified as secret their own reports that their donations to Arafat’s Palestinian Authority were being diverted to corruption and the creation of a police state. Why? So that they could continue to knowingly channel billions of crowns to Palestinian corruption and violence. Also hidden from view of the Parliament was tens of millions in donations to the Palestinian Negotiations Support Unit. An organization which had stopped negotiating and had become a pure Palestinian propaganda agency. Swedish politicians were “shocked” – but the money kept flowing. Later that same year, Lisa Abramowicz and I published an article highlighting the fact that the Swedish government was funding a conference in Gothenburg aimed at finding ways to fund Palestinian terrorism. For well over a decade, Sweden has deliberately and carefully looked for and found ways to secretly and openly fund the Palestinian propaganda and physical war against the Jews. And the Israeli government thinks that they can get the Swedes to change their ways with a bit of diplomatic pressure. They forget that the Swedes may live in a cold country, but they have proved that they can take the heat. David Comments are welcome as always. Please post them at this link: http://dfrankfurter.livejournal.com/119607.html I read them all.
