1. IT WAS CRUEL BUT IT WAS THE RIGHT DECISSION
zionist forever   (08.27.09)
It may seem unfair and I do feel sorry for them especially if the man is jewish but if we don't deport them no matter how much time has passed then its just going to send a message pretend to be jewish don't worry and if you get caught well hey we didn't catch on earlier so we will let you stay.
2. Just because
Mike Van Harris ,   Antwerp Belgium   (08.27.09)
Just because they were not jews.
3. #2 - Israel is not an immigrant state
Grigorius   (08.28.09)
I know in Europe you welcome immigrants - but hey, look what it caused in France and Sweden.
4. Tragic case
Brod ,   USA   (08.28.09)
This is a tragic case. Is there no room for mercy?

law. Their falsification of documents and fraud is a problem, though.
7. Test loyalty to State
Rina   (08.28.09)
I believe in law and order, but don't agree with how this case was handled. Perhaps if their loyalty to the State of Israel was tested they could receive mercy; specially as there may be Israeli grandchildren involved?
8. Hope this isn't just a token gesture
5th generation ,   Israel   (08.28.09)
If Oz insists on doing their deeds, they need to be sure at least as many whites as non-whites are affected. Otherwise, we're not a country of Jews, but some Middle Eastern KKK.
9. #1 and #4
Shalom   (08.28.09)
The man is not Jewish. If he was they would be allowed in by the law of return. Why should we have mercy? This couple lied and connived to become citizens; they received benefits they weren't entitled to, and built their whole lives on pure fabrication. Israel needs to be tougher in these cases.
10. "Deportation"
Jeffery ,   NJ   (08.28.09)
They lied to take advantage of the Immigrant status and receive many benefits from the government. They should pay the price for not being honest. They didn't go to Israel for asylum or to enrich the Jewish people, they went to enrich themselves for financial gain.

It's the same WORLDWIDE . If you present fake papers , you have to sustain the consequences .
12. IT'S JUST THE LAW, THAT'S SAD SOMETIMES, AS IN THIS CASE !!!

where we have from 10 to 20 percent unemployment and illegal aliens are as common as sidewalks.
14. If we did background checks 1/2 of FSU aliyah would be...
(08.28.09)
returned as most of them aren't Jewish and many of them as in this case falsified documents in order to get out of FSU as economic refugees. Send them all back!
15. to#2 eurabian
Marcelo ,   Frankfurt / Eurabia   (08.28.09)
hahahah, you made me laugh, mainly because your country is one of the most xenophobic in eurabia. In Italia immigrants go to jail, did you say something about it? I am in Germany and have seen a lot of people getting deported, couple with kids, just removed from germany, put in a plain back to some arab country. Is it bad? NO; it is the law. Period!
16. Aliyah of loyal citizens (Jews or not) is our only hope
Alon ,   Israel   (08.28.09)
You all know the demographics problem we face vis-a-vis the Jewish and Muslim populations of Israel, the territories, and our dear neighbours. Aliyah of people who choose to make this country their home and who will serve the country as equal citizens and contribute to its economic life is our only chance to survive the demographic disaster we face. Better yet, allow Reform conversions for all non-Jewish immigrants and foreign workers. Make these people equal AND make them Jews; encourage growth and loyalty at once.
17. Israel the merciless!
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.28.09)
These people have lived in Israel for 18 years and are now elderly. Where is the compassion? How brutal can we get?
18. Choice By Israel
Ronald ,   Brooklyn, NY   (08.28.09)
I must say as cruel Israel showed themslves in this situation, They did 100% the right thing and hopefully all the people living in Israel on Fake papers will start getting scared that they faked they are Jewish. Israel is becoming unbelievable scary with all the crime that the Ukrainians and Russians are bringing.

Although its not guaranteed non jews are permitted to apply for the right to emigrate to Israel. In this case they committed an act of fraud to get the permission and thousands of dollars worth of benefits. Then they wanted the mother to also commit fraud to come to Israel enjoy the good life. They were not deported because they were not jewish .. the government does't go to all that trouble to get rid of individual non jews especially if they have been here so long but in this case they lied and used false documents to enter the country. The government would be within its right to charge them with fraud for that then instead of being deported their new home would be a prison cell. If they are on the run then their bank accounts should be frozen and their home boarded up so they can either leave the country with abit of money in their pocket or live in a cardboard box and compete with the stray cats for their next meal out the trash. Israel cannot afford to become the Mecca for anybody looking for a better life.

Billy ,   Burlington, Canada   (08.28.09)
We'll do the exact same thing here in Canada if an immigrant was granted citizenship based on faked documents. It's not whether they're Jewish of not! What based on dishonesty cannot be accepted no matter what. You cannot have a good citizen if his/her citizenship is based on deception.
22. ALL MISSING THE POINT
