1. Ho hum
Shlomo Kamra   (08.29.09)
Another rocket rocket lands in an open field; no damage and no injuries as usual. But the IDF will retaliate with unproportional force, killing Gazans again.
2. Spoliers
Brandon Weinstock ,   Herzliya, Israel   (08.29.09)
As we have seen in the past, there are always going to be "spoilers" who attempt to derail the encouraging peace process and reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah. These people expect Israel to respond either with force or to claim there is no partner for peace. Israel must have the courage to walk through this process in light of the spoilers and to spite them. The "perceived" easy route for Israel is to walk away and maintain the "status quo" of "manageability". But this is not the easier way; the conflict will only get worse. The "easier" way will be to forge ahead with the various initiatives and upcoming peace process to be unveiled by the West. The fear of two (2) people getting divorced is much worse; until the document is signed and both sides realize "hey that wasn't as scary as we thought". The "spoilers" are like misbehaving children, they need to be shown who the adults are and who is in charge.
3. Will not be published
manugw ,   Buenos Aires, Arg   (08.29.09)
Will not be published around the world, but it the IDF retaliates, it will be shown in bold letters as headlines of the mass media, "Israel attacked Gaza" and the subsecuent condemnation

so the iron sky thing dose not work then......haa no money .. not suprizzzing
5. Peace talks? No chance.
Steve   (08.29.09)
Ban Ki-moon is kidding himself if he honestly believes that Hamas is going to sit down and talk about a peace agreement. Hamas are not interested in peace, and anyone who denies this is talking rubbish. The Hamas charter clearly states the following: "Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it." and "There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors."

i want to see that... because you know what: you ASSUME TOO MUCH and......... " ASSUMPTIONS ARE THE MOTHERS OF ALL FUCK-UPS". "No damage and no injuries" I don't care if there was not, because it could have been otherwise. Believe Shlomo, I don't want casualties on either side BUT with people like you, who assume too much, my G-d! have a nice rest of the weekend
7. Another Palestinian war crime, more silence from the NGOs
Joe Sittizen ,   Jerusalem   (08.29.09)
Well, here's another Palestinian warcrime - a missile fired at civilians that thankfully missed its target. Nothing but silence from the phony "human-rights" NGOs out there. Nothing but silence from the UN, of course, which doesn't really care about war crimes. And not, folks, it ain't "legitimate resistance to the occupation", it's a war crime.
8. Surprise, surprise! They don't want peace do they?
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.29.09)
http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/0/0/0/0/0/0/2042.htm There is no left wing road map that will ever lead to peace because the left suffers from an extreme case of denial. Our cousins don't sing for peace they sing for blood. WAKE UP!
9. @1 and 2
buchner ,   paris   (08.29.09)
@1: There is no such thing as disproportionate force. If you are held up by someone with a gun, even if he doesn't fire at you, you are in a position of legitimate defense. @2 If Hamas is really playing the game to participate to the peace process, they should arrest the people responsible for the Qassam attack. Everyone knows that Hamas is in the position of blocking this kind of attack. So it is not simply a matter of "extremists" trying to spoil the peace process.
10. Israel should respond with a thousand
jason white ,   afula,israel   (08.29.09)
artillery shells and twenty JDAMs. The response should hit pali infrastructure and civilians. No other nation puts up with something like this!
11. Shlomo if kids throw rocks at your house
David ,   New England   (08.29.09)
If kids are throwing rocks at your house and car, trying to break the windows, but they miss most of the time, do you say "no big deal"? Would your opinion change if there are toddlers in the yard?
12. #1 - ho hum, another who denies right to self-defense
William ,   Israel   (08.30.09)
Poor Shlomo....sitting at home with a tally sheet hoping to chalk up massive Israelis citizen deaths before he agrees to Israelis right to self-defense against Gazans terrorists. You know the Gazan terrorists, right Shlomo....they're the ones who are separate from the Gazans when they do bad, but part of the Gazans when you refer to their "honest, democratic election"? Nevermind that you didn't mention "civilian Gazans" which underscores my point exactly. Ho hum - if a Gazan dies in a tunnel while smuggling TNT, you can sleep at night knowing he's getting it on with 72 raisins.
13. #2 - Brandon - a question on "spoilers"
William ,   Israel   (08.30.09)
Have you ever asked yourself why Hamas was so quick to massacre 26 people just a couple hours after a sermon challenging Hamas' rule..but can't seem to find these "spoilers"? This is the same tactic Arafat used when negotiating - to pay fringe groups to act as spoilers while having a face of a diplomat....either way, he either shows Israel is a bad partner or he can't control everyone in Pali-land....which was proven untrue. Same with Hamas - they RULE Gaza with an iron fist....and pay those to create trouble. Sending the IAF into Hamas to deliver a "note" is just part of this dance. When Israel backed down and played it cool (as you suggest), Pals both increased the attacks and their demands.

Barney ,   USA   (08.30.09)
what kind of screwed up logic do you follow? was not aimed for an open field. landed in an open field because terrorists are not skilled enought to get it into a civilian area. thankfully, the IDF isn't that unskilled and should slam oh let's say a half dozen or so missiles at gaza. where they land they land. then let the palis get outraged at hamas for initiating the terror. your kind of screwed up thinking excuses a terror attack because it was unsuccessful. i think maybe you are shellshocked yourself
15. No physical injuries
daat y ,   jerusalem   (08.30.09)
The report should state 'NO PHYSICAL INJURIES.' But there are always psychological injuries and exacerbationd of previous post traumatic disorders.
16. Withdrawal from Gaza didn’t bring peace: It brought a ...
Ron B. ,   Lod   (08.30.09)
Withdrawal from Gaza didn’t bring peace: It brought a nightmare. Gaza is ruled by the Hamas, which recognizes neither the Palestinian Authority nor Israel. Does it make sense for peace groups to advocate negotiations with the Hamas that undermine the “moderated “ Palestinian Authority? Given that Hamas are opposed to peace with Israel, those who couple ending the “occupation” with peace might have to wait a long time for the end of the “occupation”. More at : http://xrl.us/bednn9
