1. Why not display polystyrene shelter
yossi ,   sderot   (09.01.09)
Similar as the ones in sderod, and all around Gaza? Is there any selective art for this artist?
2. It isn't authentic enough
Danny   (09.01.09)
Shouldn't they have had body parts from the suicide bombers the wall stopped strewn around too? Or maybe someone could shoot at them whilst they are putting it up. .. after all we are going for verite right?
3. You're putting this in the wrong place
Zvi   (09.01.09)
Israel did not contemplate a fence until Arafat and Hama murdered so many Israeli civilians with suicide bombers in 2000-2002. The fence was conceived as a better answer than going in and flattening Palestinian towns. And it WAS a much better answer than that. Beach-goers in Israel don't commit suicide bombings. Put it in Ramallah.
4. She's complete idiot. Is this a reason for the news?
Alex ,   TA   (09.01.09)
5. did it.....?
Sac ,   TA   (09.01.09)
keep the yafo arabs off the tel aviv beach? then it would be a success.
6. Nonsense!
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron-Israel   (09.01.09)
I really don't consider this art, just another piece of thinking from pseudo intellectuals with too much free money and time. Nice kind of wall that you rent to beach goers! She just looked for a way of getting attention and be payed!
7. Whooaaaa....what a statement....man.
Willie Thornton ,   Jerusalem, ISRAEL   (09.01.09)
what is this supposed to mean? Why doesn't this chick get a job. Why are artists such whiny, irrelevant bastards?
8. Art for Art's Sake
Jeffrey Herman ,   Miami, USA   (09.01.09)
Oh please. Certainly Shelley Federman could have selected a more apt beachfront view, like a large beach ball or ice cream bar. Art for Arts sake.....
9. Terrific display, just add...
AK ,   Israel   (09.01.09)
Love the display, but it could use a few additions to give it a more realist look. Just need to add some masked gunmen on one side shooting BB guns and a Waterboard shaped like a car on the other side to fully show the merit of the wall. Then I would it give it a 5/5.
10. graffity wall cool now people can tell her what
ghostq   (09.01.09)
they think on her art.
11. She lives in a dream world.
Hook ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.01.09)
The artist, and her ilk, enjoy the luxury of protection provided by the IDF and the security barrier, which make it possible for them to express their displeasure. Perhaps she and her friends should try providing some of that protection, instead of mocking it. Somehow, I doubt that they have the courage to do so.
12. "Architectural violence"?!? Is Federman on this planet?
JPS ,   Efrat   (09.01.09)
Wow, what a great comparison! Creating a new politically incorrect concept called "architectural violence" while avoiding mentioning any real physical violence - like suicide bombings. What will brilliant artists like Federman think of next? Kassam missile flower gardens that spray perfume on passers by to show Palestinian engineering beauty?
13. Leftist self-haters are off their rockers!
Yisraeli ,   Israel   (09.01.09)
So obsessed with the feelings of suicide bombers and the hostile enemy that they are blind to the LIVES of their "own kind" which are at stake. These whacked out leftists should go live in Ramallah or Gaza if they really feel that bad. At least it would be productive of them instead of wasting their time with self-hating "art" (if you can call it that), they'll help the Arabs economy as well.
14. Polystyrene wall - Brilliant!
Alan Abbey ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.01.09)
Brilliant idea. Great art!
15. The wall is there to save your life Shelley!
Lioness ,   Israel   (09.01.09)
16. Well EXCUUUUUUSE Israel for its "aggressiveness"
Miriam ,   Israel   (09.01.09)
Perhaps we would not have to be so aggressive if the enemy stopped killing us!
17. too bad this wall wasn't up to save the 50 year old man...
(09.01.09)
who was kidnapped and killed on the beach the other week.
18. Beachfront mimics barrier
Alfred Inselberg ,   Raanana, Israel   (09.01.09)
Place blown-up buses, coffee-shops, with dismembered bodies crying mothers and children together with the homicidal "martyrs" on one side of the barrier, and the artist suning himself on the other side ... to complete the exhibit.
19. fake wall
miri ,   miami/tel aviv   (09.01.09)
you know ms. artiste, we get enough bad press without your help. Israel, love it or leave it. blue and white= these colors don't run.
20. Better yet send federman to live in gaza.
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.01.09)
Is it better for Jews to be blown up or the terrorists kept in the territory they stole from us?
21. thx shelley for the shade
meg ,   israel   (09.01.09)
also my not having to bother to bring my own lilo and inflate it. Shelley i do hope you or yours will never be involved or hurt in a terrorist attack on a bus, in a mall or wherever. Why waste your money why not use it by donating to those that have suffered from terrorism.
22. Why doesn't she go to India
Miranda Rose Smith   (09.01.09)
and put up some mattresses made to look like the wall along the border with Pakistan? There are border walls all over the world.
23. The artist never said she was for against barrier
rebecca ,   modiin   (09.01.09)
24. Hmm. Looks like the Egypt-Gaza barrier.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (09.01.09)
Seriously, why are most "artists" such loons? I think her exhibit says more about her than about Israel.
25. so stupid - so useless
ezra ,   canada   (09.01.09)
26. Israel will have more walls
Cynic #2   (09.01.09)
by the look of things, there will be walls within Israel: 1- between the Haredim and everybody else 2- between Arabs and everybody else 3- between the Russian immigrants and everybody else 4- between the Ethiopians and everybody else 5- between the seculars and everybody else It is called cantonization!!!
27. Put to display dead bodies
NItzan ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.01.09)
The bodies will represent the massive number of Israelis who were killed during the time there was no wall/fence.
28. good idea, wrong place
(09.01.09)
If this "artist" had put her wall at Tel Baruch, maybe Aryeh Karp would still be alive.
29. Shelly Federman
sherry ,   nyc   (09.01.09)
I am so sick and tired of hearing the leftists and their understanding of the poor Palestinians[Jordanians]. My father was in the Jewish Brigade. In Europe he helped so many Jews to escape so that they may come to Israel and live in a secure homeland. Mind toy he is Yemenite. Maybe he should of left them in Europe. We wouldn't want to feel bad for the poor Nazi's. Shelly, when are you going to start showing your pride fpr Israel, because nobody else gives a sh.t for your artistic lunacy.
30. funny she did not do this earlier (GILO remember?)
Golan ,   SL   (09.01.09)
So when the ugly wall was put in the face of Jews who were getting shot at by the Arabs this "artist" said nothing/did nothing/cared nothing but now... Makes you wonder if she is an artist or just an ugly activist.
