I have always thought, that these kids, whose parents, erstwhile Polish citizens, had been deported by the Soviets to Siberia and Kazachstan, were brought to Persia in 1942 by the Polish (gen. Anders') Army. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anders_Army But it appears now that the "Children of Tehran" were "a group of orphaned children gathered in Europe in the midst of World War II by the Jewish Agency and smuggled to [Palestine] via Tehran in 1943". No end to conflicting versions of history. One always learns.
