Carter claims the settlements are "rapidly encroaching " on the Palestinians. "Rapidly"? Says who? There has been almost no growth in Israeli settlement area in the past few years, so to say "rapidly" means that Carter is simply lying to push his point. You'd expect his definition to mean that all the settlements have been expanding at a rapid pace and taking over the Palestinians en masse. Nothing could be farther from the truth - Carter is simply a liar on this one. But he's already a known liar about many things dealing with Israel. He's also getting so much Arab money that he feels that he's paid to not mention any of the Palestinian atrocities, war crimes, or official policies that are clearly against peace and the 2-state solution.

The above talkbacks show how hard it is for Israelis to face the fact that Israel is a ruthless oppressor of Palestinians and an illegitimate occupier of their land, and how easy it is for them to fire cheap shots at a decent man who dares to remind them of that fact. As an old Jew I am ashamed.

Carter is once again correct in stating the obvious in that unless Israel agrees to halt settlement construction and define a two state solution now, a single state is the only remaining solution; one where Muslims would quickly become the majority. I personally don't understand why the Palestinians don't just vote to dissolve the PA and wave the white flag surrender right now. Once they admit their homeland was conquered by Israel, Israel would be the one burdened with providing them with food, housing, healthcare, and as a the only democracy in the Middle East, full and equal citizenship. BTW - Anyone is still fooling themselves with the notion that Israel will be allowed by the international community to ethnically cleanse the Palestinians, or that they will voluntarily move to other countries, needs their head examined.

If the Palestinian leadership truely emulates Martin Luther King and Ghandi than we will have peace in our part of the Middle East.
