1. settlements
marcel   (09.06.09)
prior to 67, there were no settlements and israel was still blamed by the arabs for everything.Arabs do not want israel theree as they hate them. They also hate themselves, so yemen fights egypt, jordan is at odds with syria, iraq is at odds with syria.it doesn't change. Moussa stood up with glee when erdogan walked out in davos. Now he sides wiht hamas, he hates israel.
2. Whats the point of negotiating with this guys?
Mike ,   Mbsa, Kenya   (09.06.09)
Israel need not listen to Arabs, antisemites,Obama or EU they all have their own suspicious agendas.Israelis have come far and getting stronger.Dividing an already small Jewish state for Arabs who don't want to share the middle east is sheer evil.
3. Tick tock tick tock......ONE STATE will be unveiled
Nour ,   Palestine   (09.06.09)
...Israelis shoot themselves in both feet. 2-State solution RIP. A better fu
4. NO NORMALIZATION WITH ISRAEL
HENRYK ,   RAMAT GAN/ISRAEL   (09.06.09)
THAT IS AN OLD STORY WHO REMEMBERS THE KHARTOUM SUMMIT IN AUGUST 1967,WHEN THE ARAB NATIONS AGREED THE THREE NO NO PEACE/NO NEGITIATIONS/NO RECOGNITION
5. When??
Eytan   (09.06.09)
When is a leader of Israel going to stand up finally tell them what they can do with their normalization. The Jewish nations does not need nor want their type of normalization. It is an insult to intelligent people to engage in any type of agreement with arab nations. They would never allow there own people to see the truth about the Nation of Israel. The very exsistence of Israel threatens their dictatorial power thirst and corruption. let it go already we are better off without arab anything.
6. Hamass rejects peace with Israel. Yawn.....wake me up when
you have something ,   else 2 report.Maurie   (09.06.09)
7. as long as Shalit
Barney ,   USA   (09.06.09)
is held settlements should expand at a very rapid pace. keep your normalization. there is no honorable partner for "normalization" anyway and who needs normalization with an abnormal culture and society.
8. Arab League
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron-Israel   (09.06.09)
We must learn to negotiate in their terms! They say everything or nothing, so let's say we are building, you want us to stop? You are more than wellcome to come and talk!

You are absolutely correct, Nour. There will be one state only. But it will be a JEWISH state, and you folks are going to hit the road. Tick tock.
11. #3 Clank, Clank, Clank....No State
Cynthia ,   USA   (09.06.09)
You have a ball and chain attached to each foot. On the left you have Hamas and on the right you have Iran. If you had a third foot, you would have the Arab league. They drag you down and make your dream called Palestine impossible to attain.
12. A Big Yawn
O. Wilkenson Taylor ,   Voitoftsi Ukraine   (09.06.09)
It absdolutely amazes me that anyone is still fooled by the "shell game" played by the Israelis and the Arabs they control, and the "bent-out-of-shape" comments of the gullible sheep who believe that the whole "shpiel" has not been orchestrated for the lst 50 years. Look at the facts on the ground. That's been the plan along. Go Heebies Go.

14. Moussa: "What's good for me is not for thee"
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (09.06.09)
Egypt itself was ostracized after its own deal with Israel in 1979. Now Amr Moussa, the Egyptian head of the Arab League, is opposing any gesture toward Israel by any member of the League. Ironic. Moussa has for years aggressively undermined any deal short of "everything". He's a real piece of work.

"Heebies?" Glad to see you are living in the Ukraine. You've certainly gone to the right place. When you get a chance, take a quick trip to Babi Yar. It will gladden your miserable, Jew-hating heart. It's only the Palestinians that are playing a shell game. They have three times rejected a two-state solution. The Arabs have gone to war six times; losing each time. The Palestinians have brought terror to the world on an unparalleled scale while claiming to want only "peace." Facts on the ground? Here they are: Israel acquired territory while fighting a defensive war. The Hague Second and Third Conventions establish unequivocally that territory so acquired may be retained and settled by the victor (that would be Israel). So all the Palestinian bleating about "illegal occupation" and "illegal settlements" are simply false. The Third Convention actually implies that Israel would be well within her rights to deport all the Palestinians from the West Bank. The Palestinians have been the architects of their own misfortune, and since war and terror haven't worked, they now want the world to fix their problems. That is not going to happen. They made their choices, and they have to live with the consequences of those choices. After you see Babi Yar, why don't you take a quick side trip to Chernobyl? Take some really deep breaths while you're there.
16. The Arab League and Islamist movement
Dale ,   USA   (09.07.09)
Moussa says normalization of ties impossible as long as Israel 'persists in its intransigent position' concerning settlement freeze. Oh boy, if it wasn't because of this, I am sure Moussa would come up with something else. Do not forget that the Arab League pulled out of Egypt when Sadat signed a peace agreement with Israel. Standing with Hamas destroys the League's creditability. Neither seems to want peace.
17. existance
steve ,   usa   (09.07.09)
Same garbage a different day, Our Neigbors want us into the sea and no country in the world really cares about the existance of a jewish state. I pray for a strong Israel that will not buckle into evryones self interest and make decisions that will ensure our future
18. "normalization of ties impossible..."
les ,   canada   (09.07.09)
the best news i heard all day!!!
19. "very violent reaction across the Arab world"
William ,   Israel   (09.07.09)
"I believe that there will be a very violent reaction across the Arab world should we learn that someone normalized (ties with Israel)," he added." In other words, a veiled threat against Arab leaders has been made by Palestinian terrorists...."normalize with Israel, and we will attack you". That alone is reason to follow UAE's action and toss Palestinians, especially Hamas-followers, into the streets and out of the country. Not only are Pals holding Israel and the Western world hostage, they are targeting Arab States, too. Not surprising, though. If Arab States began normalizing relations with Israel, the Pals lose their bargaining chip (which wasn't really one anyway, as far as Israel is concerned). That's why no One leader is willing to make the first step, without the involvement of Pals....for it will bring violence.
20. #3 - Only One State is Pals move East
William ,   Israel   (09.07.09)
I for one don't want your violent, racist population in MY country. Move East towards Arabia where those who agree to your barbaric conduct reside. Oh wait, you're not welcome there either. Hmmm.
21. #7 - I like your style!
William ,   Israel   (09.07.09)
I agree Israel should take a hard stance... Two ultimatums to Hamas: 1) for every day Shalit is not return, we issue building orders for 100 more homes in the settlements 2) If Shalit is not returned unharmed, we will not only hunt down any prisoners we released, but the whole of Hamas, as well. It's time to get tough, ramp up the rhetoric, and stop hiding behind hidden diplomacy as if it makes you a better statesman worthy of global respect.
22. #15 - Sarah - Actually you're wrong on one count
William ,   Israel   (09.07.09)
"they (Palestinians) now want the world to fix their problems." This isn't really correct. What the Pals want is world approval and support for their continued terror and racism. Had the world been able to just fix the problem, it could have been finished decades ago.
23. Why do we need "normalization" with these backwards anyway?
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (09.07.09)
Normalization means going down to their level of primitiveness. The Arb civilization is in a dark, long winter. Despite hundreds of billions of dollars in income from oil and massive amounts of Western humanitarian aid, the Arbs have yet to create one single monument to human achievement. Rather, at different times, the Arbs have pointed the finger of blame at colonialists, multinationals, missionaries, Zionists, communists, liberals, religious and/or ethnic minorities, middle classes and even poor Orientalists. But the blame rests only in themselves. The Arb League has never once convened an Arab summit to discuss the backward state of education in the Arb world and therein lies the problem.

There is nothing normal about them and "normalization" means going down to their level of primitiveness. The Arb civilization is in a dark, long winter. 25. Moussa:"No normalization with Israel"
DT ,   TA Israel   (09.07.09)
Suits me ! (end)
26. Oh gee, complaints from kidnappers and killers.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.07.09)
Why don't we add complaints from the pigs that their slop is not up to snuff and the mud irritates their skin.
27. And Israel needs "the gift of normalization" because?...
Shaul ,   Fiji   (09.07.09)
Take out the crude and we are talking about combined single %'ges of the world's GDP. Technologies? Manufactured goods? Machinery? Culture? Education? Sciences? I can only lol
28. America talks about Arab "pleges" of normalization with...
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.07.09)
...Israel although the Arabs states who have "pledged" to do so refused to be named. And the Arab League made of all Arab states plus the Palestinian Authority / PLO, willing to name all of its state members, claims clearly that no normalization of relationships with Israel is forthcoming. To whom should one believe, to George Mitchell or to Amer Mousa...??
29. Arab League a joke
Haider ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (09.07.09)
Poor arabs, they still donĀ“t get it while the whole world knows that their League is a circus and its chief is a clown.
30. To: No. 22
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.07.09)
Point taken. Either way, the Palestinians want to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Six wars; sixty-one years of unrelenting terror -- how many bites at the apple should the Palestinians get? They are a vanquished people, and need to understand this. I cannot think of a single instance in history where those who are soundly defeated in war get to call the shots or decide the terms of surrender.
