1. They paved paradise to put up settlement block
lydia ,   Brisbane   (09.07.09)
They turfed out the Palestinians, dug up their olive trees, shoot their farmers so they could put up settlement blocks for Israelis. And are bewildered that the Palestinians lob rockets across the illegal fence.
2. shock
alexi   (09.07.09)
waht have the arabs and the EU done for peace? Nothing except demand concessions, aided by condi rice and now clinton. What do the arabs offer israel? Its obscene,.
3. Settlements
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.07.09)
"Defense Minister Ehud Barak is slated to green light the construction of hundreds of housing units in the West Bank settlements prior to the moratorium on settlement building being demanded by the international community." The international community has no right to demand anything of Israel. Particularly since Israel's presence in the West Bank is fully legal, as is the building of settlements. It would be a supremely bad idea for Israel to cave in to the international community. The international community makes no demands on the Palestinians for anything. Besides, it will send the wrong message -- i.e., put enough pressure on Israel, and Israel will give in to even the most ludicrous of demands. Perhaps the best response would be for Barak to authorize the building of 2,500 new housing units. Israel stands alone in the world anyway; surely no one can seriously believe that the international community will suddenly turn around and improve relations with Israel if Israel orders a freeze. I see no reason under the sun to give the Palestinians a free "feel-good" moment. And if the international community doesn't like it, tough. Too bad. Get over it. And they will.
4. Barak is Bibi's tool!!!!
JK ,   NYC   (09.07.09)

5. Settlements

Barak must be running for PM. Joshua 1:8
6. Why build on land that could be part of Palestine in 2 years
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, USA   (09.07.09)
If there is to be a peace deal then much of the W. Bank will be come part of Palestine so it makes sence to only continue to build in settlements close to the greenline. The only other option is to push Palestians in to smaller and smaller areas until they are force out to Gaza or Jordan but this will not lead to peace, only more wars in the years to come.
7. houses``
colin   (09.07.09)
Barak is more interested in evictions of mothers and children at night than signing to building of new homes in Israel As in the past Barak will run from these areas in Yehuda and Shomron as he did in Lebenon and gaza.Barak hates jews and will rather assist the arabs and terrorists to build.
8. Pilpul
Michael ,   Haifa   (09.07.09)
Only a culture based on Talmudic pilpul (casuistry) could pit one group of scoundrels (the government) against another group of scoundrels (the settlers) in such a manner.
9. building new houses on the liberated territories
DR ,   israel Hebron   (09.07.09)
There is a thundering silene on the part of YESHA concerning Kiryat Arba and Hebron regarding new building. They cast a stone at ODIE but forget that they have, in effect, abandoned Kiryat Arba and Hebron. Could it be that the Jews of Kiryat Arba and Hebron are their misfortune? Where have I heard that before? History repeats itself.

Get ready for a free "feel good" moment for the Palestinians, Sarah. If you don't like it, tough. Too bad. Get over it. And you won't! Free Palestine. Stop exappropriation of Palestinian farms NOW. Stop ALL settlement building NOW.

Well, aren't you a clever little parrot. If you have an original thought in your head, express it using your own words instead of echoing mine. Are you Neturei Karta? Or just a run of the mill self-hating Jew? Either way, you are a loathesome toad.

You twit. Clearly you have no idea what the West Bank looked like when Israel acquired it in 1967. Olive trees? Yeah, right. Try this: less than 30% of the homes had electricity. Less than 50% of the homes had indoor plumbing. The Jordanians, nominally controlling the West Bank, ignored it. Sewage ran raw in the streets and there were constant outbreaks of cholera. There was one hospital. There were no universities. Homes were largely ramshackle. Israel changed all that. Built an infrastructure. Built six universities. Built three hospitals. Brought electricity and indoor plumbing to all of the territory. Provided an underemployed population with opportunities to work in the building trades, both in Israel and on the West Bank. Olive trees, indeed. Wrong area, dear. Try the Galilee. And try to find another source for your "facts." Al Jazeera just doesn't cut the mustard.

Your posts are consistent to the extent that you accuse Israel of "illegal occupation" and of building "illegal settlements" and you speak endlessly of "land grab" and "land theft." So I have a question for you. As an Australian of presumably European origin, how do you justify YOUR presence in Australia? How do you account for the fact that the European presence in Australia is indeed quite recent (when did the first convict ships arrive? late 1700s, I believe) and the English settlers murdered the native aborigines in the tens of millions and stole their land. Israel, on the other hand, has a well documented 6,000 plus year history in the Holy Land. We didn't settle anything. We didn't steal anything. We returned to our ancient homeland. The presence of white people in Australia, on the other hand, is a relatively new phenomenon and what was done to the aboriginals is quite well documented. Are you prepared to restore all of Australia to its rightful inhabitants? Answer those questions, and I promise to stop laughing at your ridiculous, Jew-hating posts. I PROMISE. Somehow ..... I don't think you will respond. Because you cannot.

Don't waste your precious time and your health answering these low-lifes. Hashem Gadol. That's all we need to say.
15. 13 Australia isn't the one violating Int.Law, Israel is!!
lydia ,   Brisbane   (09.08.09)
Israel unilaterally declared its "jewish state' enshrined in res181 so anything outside these borders do not belong to Israel and constitute land theft. Your 'documented 6000years' has as much credibility as Shrub's 'My Pet Goat. There is documented proof that all civilization originated in Africa go claim Africa as your birthright and see if the Africans would wait 60years go give you a thumping like they gave the Afrikaners. You are living in la la land if you thing your illegal occupation will withstand the test of time.
16. 12 Anyway you spin it's murder to steal Palestinian land
lydia ,   Brisbane   (09.08.09)
After bombing the Palestinian Airport, their Power station, their sewerage facilities, uprooting their trees, bulldozing their homes, shooting their farmers/ fisherman etc.you have the chutzpah to try to convince the World that a bunch of est.European pagan converts are actually desert people and not a bunch of morally bankrupt unconscionable land grabbers.Nice try!
17. 14 Israel's moral turpitude is up for public scrutiny
lydia ,   Brisbane   (09.08.09)
whether you like it or not so who is the real low life here.
18. Lydia, it must be you.
Debbie ,   Israel   (09.22.09)
Get a life.
