1. Good.
ray bees ,   minneapolis, usa   (09.08.09)
Let them eat their bullets and their rockets. They voted Hamas in, now they can reap what they sew. I have no pity on a people that embraces terror over the well being of its own citizens.
2. stop crying for them
sisi ,   planet hollywood   (09.08.09)
It is all thanks to UN UNRA and Hmmas _PLO.so cry to them only.
3. Not true
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.08.09)
First of all, poverty and disease were rife in Gaza prior to 1967; following the Israeli takeover in 1967, they built Gaza up, provided medical care, and provided jobs within Israel. The poverty and conditions in Gaza are terrible today, to be sure, but you have Hamas to thank for that. All the aid that they have received has gone to the support of terror. Nothing is distributed to the ordinary Palestinian but I can assure you that all the Hamas leadership live in luxurious homes and travel first-class (not to mention hefty private bank accounts and secondary homes in Europe). To fault Israel is irresponsible.
4. ...and whose fault is this...
PW ,   Virginia USA   (09.08.09)
5. gaza in WORST SHAPE.....
les ,   canada   (09.08.09)
AND SO???? did'nt 90% of them elected hamas to "lead" them? did'nt they go along with the years of bombing, fireing rockets, suicide bombings, kidnappings etc. against israel? NOW THEY MUST SLEEP IN BED THEY MADE.
6. That's the price for starting a war.
Steven Wilson   (09.08.09)
Get over it.
7. "Protest"against "U.N.Contributions"!
Roland Seener ,   London England   (09.08.09)
Plenty of Money exist in "Arab" Coffers. This is a job exclusivelly for the Arab World.Povery is not an exclusive for "Gaza".With failing businesses around the world leading ro failing economies how can U.N.seek futher funding when inter-Arab money already exists?Attention is never drawn to their "Money Grabbers" by the U.N financial institutions..Why ? Answer..Bilking !.If there is enough money to pay for weapons and ammunition, who ignores the dire poverty that can be obviated.? Answer,"The Arab War Barrons."It is the time to protest this exploitation of non-moslem hard workers who don"t know exactly how their hard earned money is taxed, and for what purpose.it is re-distributed.Boycott Israel and inflict hardship on Israel, but surely the game is over-played.I do not want to head a "Revolution"but I think that the "Citizens of the World "should hold on much tighter to their "Purse-Strings."and question more their representative bodies. It is completely unacceptable as we don"t want to hear "Gaza,Gaza,Gaza<"for another hundred years !
8. Gaza is an Islamic Paradise
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (09.08.09)
They live in the situation they created and enjoy all the benefits of Islam why should they complain about their Islamic paradise?
9. Only 90% live in poverty?
Sam ,   Nanuet USA   (09.08.09)
Keep shooting rockets and supporting terror, then 99% will live in poverty, the only ones that will be living a life of luxury on the French Riviera will be the heads of hamas and their Families
10. Hamas thinks hanging onto Shalit is worth billions-they nuts
Alan ,   SA   (09.08.09)
11. Let's review
Arie ,   BaGolan   (09.08.09)
1. They keep changing demands for Shalit's release (Most of us believe he is dead and hamasstan is fearful of the truth being exposed!) 2. They keep firing rockets at our civilians 3. They keep shooting at Israelis on OUR side of the internationally recognized borders 4. They keep talking of nothing but war and the annihilation of the Jewish people. 5. They continue to whine Hmmmmmmm....notice a trend here?
12. Pity the Nation
Ramy ,   Lebanon   (09.08.09)
It makes me sad to read the comments put by readers. I expect the Jewish World to be more compassionate and just. Now, they are enjoying the concept of "collective punishment." I would not expect that from the descendants of people who suffered injustice in the past. Gazans are humans and Gazans count too. All humans are equal.
13. Terrible
Joseph ,   Israel   (09.08.09)
This is a terrible but predicted tragedy. The people who claim they support "peace" have always chosen the path that pushes the innocent Arabs deeper into poverty and despair. This gives the "peace camp" justification to hate Israel, makes a generation of Arabs that have nothing to lose and allows the "peace activists" to line their pockets. The first step in reversing this tragedy is to arrest and punish the criminals who destroyed Gush Katif, causing Gaza to descend into this hell.
14. To: No. 12
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.08.09)
Are you serious? More compassionate and just? Where is your compassion for the citizens of Sderot and other locations in the south who had been subject to daily missile barrages from Gaza for EIGHT YEARS. Have you ANY idea how traumatized they are? Where is your compassion for the parents of Gilad Shalit? The plight of Gaza is very much of their own making. They voted Hamas in. When Israel withdrew from Gush Katif, leaving intact greenhouses, hydroponic farms and apartment buildings and homes, Hamas destroyed everything and used the space to build a terrorist training center. The good citizens of Gaza made their bed; now they have to lie in it. Don't come crying to me because you made a choice that turned out to be a bad one. It's your choice; you own it. Live with the consequences. Sorry -- I reserve my full measure of compassion and sympathy for people who actually deserve it.
15. SIMPLE PROOF
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (09.08.09)
The one that blesses the Jews, will be blessed. The one that curses the Jews will be cursed. These haters make their own beds, now they can sleep in it. It will not make any difference how many billions the world will poor into this cursed place, it will all be in vain.
16. When PALs begin to value the Lives of PALs over Deaths of Is
meir elazar   (09.08.09)
raelis WHY ARABS AND PALESTINIANS HAVE NO HOPE 1. Arabs, Moslems, and Palestinians do not take ownership of their problems. Instead they blame ALL their failings on the Jews, Israelis, Zionists, and the Mossad, etc. 2. Arabs, Moslems, and Palestinians do not channel their efforts and energy into positive constructive measures. They have ALWAYS focused on wars, murder, terror, kidnapping, stealing, etc. 3. Arabs, Moslems, and Palestinians are living in the ancient past dreaming about their victory under Salah A-Din, are teaching radical Islam brainwashing their children in their Madrasas. They give toy assault weapons to their tots and teach hatred of Israelis/Jews as their core curriculum. 4. Arabs, Moslems, and Palestinians hold their beliefs above historical facts even when they are dead wrong. They believe in the myths that Israelis/Jews did not show up on 9/11 at the WTC and disregard the FACTS that 14 of 19 hijackers were Saudis. They deny the holocaust , etc.(e.g. Ahmadinejad). 5. Their destruction of everything Israeli cost them millions of dollars and many jobs when they destroyed the greenhouses after Disengagement. 6. Their continued attempts to infiltrate Israel and send suicide bombers in Intifada 2 resulted in the Blockade of Gaza isolating them and strangling their economy. Their exploiting the generousity of Israel and knowledge of sites such as the Park Hotel in Netanya for the Passover bombing and Hebrew University Cafeteria bombing cost them jobs in Israel. 7. Their continue rocket fire along with terrorist attacks has resulted in massive successful counter terror measures resulting in roadblocks, border crossings, etc. which limit goods into Gaza and lines of people waiting to get into Israel for medical help, etc. 8. Their attacks on border crossings have resulted in increased security measures further tightening the restraints. 9. Their continued rocket attacks has resulted in bombing of smuggling tunnels further limiting access to goods. 10. PALs had a chance when PLO had the opportunity to disavow terror and follow the "Road" to peace. But Arafat and his corrupt govt. put their interests above the PALs, stole billions, and instituted a govt. based on corruption. 11. The people then voting for Hamas, aligned themselves with a radical terrorist organization further delegitimizing their "cause" 12. They continue their terrorist ways by kidnapping Shalit, overthrowing Fatah in Gaza murdering hundreds, etc. 13. Their continued rocket attacks caused Operation Cast Lead and the subject of this article. 14. PALs walked away from a deal with Barak for 100% of Gaza and 92% of WB. They will never get a deal like this again. They want 100% of Israel and until they face reality, and channel their efforts into legitimate peaceful coexistance, PALs will have no hope, will be contained and blockaded in Gaza. They will live in poverty having to smuggle in all goods while having no jobs, industry, etc. Israel will control their water, electricity, and gas. When will they learn?
17. great job, hamas
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.08.09)
well, they always wanted a 7th century ideology. now they are on their way to making gaza 7th century in every way possible. mission accomplished!
18. UN is the PROBLEM
Roni   (09.08.09)
19. When Israel left Gaza
Galut ,   Selah   (09.08.09)
they left Green house structures - Hamas supporters promptly destoyed them .... the launching of Qassams by Hamas caused borders to be sealed to protect the israeli population...if this happened in an european country there would have been a military operation to clean out the organization causing the problem. the israelis have went beyond the call of duty....

24. "economy has been recessing for nine years"
William ,   Israel   (09.09.09)
Hmm, about the time when Arafat started his terror war against Israel and subsequently ended all inter-economic and freedom of movement of Pals and Israelis..... coincidence? Don't expect a change in Gaza any time soon. No one wants to do business with unstable terrorists so no matter how open borders may be, the FDI just won't flow into Gaza, but weapons and fighters will. Does the word "Somalia" ring a bell?
25. #12 - Jews are more compasionate and Just
William ,   Israel   (09.09.09)
That's why it took years for Israel to react to its citizens being collectively punished by terrorist rockets, suicide bombers, and kidnapping. That's why Jews turned the other cheek and believed in the Gazan citizens over the leaders there - leaving Gaza for peace and leaving behind a multi-million dollar greenhouse industry, with a working industrial park in Erez for Gazans to work at. It was all destroyed within weeks by terrorists and the Gazan citizens were complicit. Had Pals attempted this against an Arab regime, they would have been destroyed en masse - just as precedents set in Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon attest to. Arabs have shown NO compassion or just, to anyone. Compassion and justice are not unlimited and were routinely abused by Palestinians for over 60 years. Today, the results of their hardened racist violence are manifesting themselves, and they have no one to blame but themselves. THAT is justice!
