Whomever authorizes the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Shalit is contributing to the success of the kidnapping business and making sure it will continue, endangering the lives of many more Shalits in the future. The proper measure would be to not make the kidnapping business successful, such as destroying 100 buildings in Gaza for every day Shalit is not released. Or whatever measure that will make Hamas tremble with fear just at the thought of kidnapping one of our soldiers. How come I understand this and not our politicians?

They did destroy 6000 buildings in the last invasion and hamas did not tremble and Shalit is still captive. I think you don't understand as you claim you do.

certainly it is ...unfortunatly the politians can say a lot before they are elected ... but once in office are bound by laws & treaties while trying to keep their poll ratings up...takes a lot of courage to make big changes...

14. #9 Obviously you're not a math genious
Yaniv ,   Israel   (09.09.09)
Shalit has been in captivity for 1,169 days. Multiply that with 100 and you have 116,900 bldgs that are due to be destroyed as compensation for Shalit, according to my suggestion. Instead Israel only destroyed 80 gov't bldgs and destroyed/damaged 4,000 homes. That's petty in comparison. So what was it again that I didn't understand?
15. #10 Yes you're right, it takes courage
Yaniv ,   Israel   (09.09.09)
to load a bomber with Palestinian prisoners, fly over Gaza and drop each prisoner through the bomb hatch, one by one until they release Shalit. That's what we should be doing. But instead we reward the kidnappers, expecting the kidnapping to stop by surrounding ourselves with walls and fences, and security checks in every mall. We don't need any of this security stuff, we just need to multiply the current punishments for killing Jews by 100. Why are we boxing ourselves in our own land when we should be making the enemy run away?
16. MY HEALTH IS DETERIORATING DAILY
zionist forever   (09.09.09)
In his first and so far last letter written three years ago he says his health is deteriorating daily. There have been no Red Cross visits in all this time, there have been no letters since then from Shalit himself. Both of those things would stir the Israeli national feelings of emotion demanding the government to accept Hamas demands & get him back but they haven't been provided. The free Gilad supporters and the Shalit family want to hold onto their beliefs he is still in a room somewhere alive and well waiting for Israel to release the terrorists. They are falling into Hamas trap and demand the government accepts Hamas demands so he can be returned. Reality is the man probably died not long after that first letter was written as a result of injuries or sickness and Hamas are playing on peoples emotions to bluff in this game of poker. Time for Bibi to call their bluff demand that negotiations are based on knowladge we won't get a corpse back so the Red Cross must be allowed to visit and at the very least a vidio & letter. We cannot let Hamas dictate the rules.
