(09.10.09)
6. Either way...Its a catastrophe if Iran gets the bomb.
(09.10.09)
We all know that Iran will use its bombs ...to blackmail, to extort , to threaten, pass on to "friends" who will get the "blame" if they're used. Then at one stage it will use them itself. Iran is NOT a peace-loving regime. Not at all. Waiting around for these thugs to get armed is just as risky as trying to stop them.
7. Too Risky, Compared To What?
David H ,   Marietta USA   (09.10.09)
8. Not Very Surprising
Christy ,   Boston, US   (09.11.09)
Quote: "State Department says proposal given to world powers does not allay concerns over Tehran's nuclear program..." Did anyone *REALLY* expect him to allay fears? He's going to keep on doing what he wants and doesn't care what anyone else thinks, says, or does.
9. doesn't he know the joke about the french?
dan   (09.11.09)
its like he set himself and the whole french nation up with that remark!
10. The French against a militay action, I'm Shocked!
The Dude   (09.11.09)
I don't know what qualifies his commentary, primarily due to the fact that France hasn't really operated in major conventional war since WWII. And hasn't had to plan for such a complex operation since before WWII. The fact is that he is talking out of his ass and allowing politics to cloud his judgment. Israel has performed actions similar to this in training with Greece, a convoy attack on Sudan, Osiraq, the opening shot of Cast Lead with hundreds of aircrafts operating in the small area of Gaza, and the strike on Syria's nuclear facility. I don't think the French general really knows what he is talking about.
11. Listening to French advise is too risky
Mongo ,   Paris   (09.11.09)
Especially Military advice. Could very well create a catastrophe!
12. #2, I believe it was 1815
Danny   (09.11.09)
13. That"s why he"s a French General,and not an Israeli General
Roland Seener ,   London England   (09.11.09)
14. It is wasting time policy
Zarebin ,   London, UK   (09.11.09)
Just Talk, Talk and ... for how long ? It is time to show Iranian regime that their days are numbered, not beg them for return to the negotiating table.
15. Yeah and the Pope is Jewish moron...
William ,   Seattle, Wa, USA   (09.11.09)
If it were not for the US and the allies, the French would be speaking German today... The scenario is similar to that of the pre-war era where you have a major lunatic and his pals with ideas similar to those of the nazis and it will take righteous leaders and armies to wipe them off the map... Iran's short destiny is similar to that of nazi germany guaranteed.... Long live the state of Israel and the USA...
16. We don't have a choice
Steve   (09.11.09)
The French General was right; it is extremely risky to attack Iran. However, what other choice do we have? We can wait for Iran to finish making their nuclear weapons and attack us, or we can attack them and prevent them from destroying Israel. Of course a military operation against Iran is dangerous. But there is simply no alternative.
17. JERKS !!!.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (09.11.09)
EVEN IF A MILITARY STREIK BY ISRAEL AGAINST IRAN, WOULD BE CATASYROPHIC TO THE WORLD ECONOMY, A WORLD WAR TO STOP IRAN WOULD BE WORSE. Arn.
18. The allied invasion of Normandy was
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.11.09)
risky also.
19. French General; he knows how to ?
Joseph ,   Fort Lauderdale, USA   (09.11.09)
French army? Please like the French military has any standing to talk. Peeyew. You can smell them 1 kilo away. They can only fight upwind.

21. To the glory of France and their " baguette "
ZORRO   (09.11.09)
It's been a long, very long time since Monsieur Bonaparte..We know that General Petain, General Gamelin, Admiral Darland didn't do much to enhance the prestige of the French army except send train loads of their sons in order to help with labor shortages and fight alongside their mortal enemy. War is,and always was a risky affair. Eisenhower's Normandy was risky.MacArthur's Inchon (N.Korea) was a nasty successful affair. Israel's 67 war and it's bombing of Iraq was a huge risk. Monsieur le General, we cannot afford a Maginot line, and certainly not a " drole de guerre " ( a funny war ) in 39' France. We do take war seriously, and as a matter of policy , prefer to win. Anything wrong with that ?
